Specification

[001] The present application relates to a front fork of a vehicle. More particularly, the present application relates to a fork device for a front fork of a vehicle.
BACKGROUND
[002] The information in this section merely provides background information related to the present disclosure and may not constitute prior art(s) for the present disclosure. [003] In two-wheeled vehicles, such as motorcycles, a telescopic fork comprising fork tubes, which contain the suspension components (for example, coil springs and damper) therein, are provided in a front portion of the vehicle. The fork is configured as a suspension unit to absorb the roughness of the ground, and/ or to facilitate free slidable movement of the components of the fork with respect to each other under heavy load conditions, such as in braking conditions. A typical construction of a front fork of a vehicle comprises a bottom casing or fork device filled with working oil and adapted to slidably receive a fork pipe carrying a piston at its lower end. When the vehicle travels on an uneven surface or under heavy load conditions, the fork pipe contracts within the fork device so as to be closed upon contraction of the fork and the fork pipe expands within the fork device so as to be opened upon extension of the fork. [004] Known bottom casing or fork device of front forks are manufactured using casting methods and are produced as single piece components. Also, provisions, for example, holes, protrusions, etc., for mounting the accessories of the vehicle are incorporated during the casting of the fork device. Therefore, in case of any damage or defect in a portion of the fork device, the entire fork device is discarded, thereby increasing the manufacturing cost, and increasing the scrap. Further, in instances where any customization in design of a portion or whole of the fork device is to be incorporated, an entire die is required to be produced for manufacturing such customized fork device, thereby further increasing the manufacturing cost of the component and production time.
[005] Moreover, a structural configuration of a left side fork device of the front fork is distinct from a right side fork device of the front fork, and thus, separate dies for manufacturing left side and right fork devices are required, thereby leading to multi-fold the problems discussed above.

[006] Accordingly, there remains a need for an improved fork device of a front fork that can overcome at least the problems identified above and that reduces scrap during manufacturing process, and reduces manufacturing cost and time

Similarly, as shown in FIGS. 6A and 6B, the brake caliper mounting element (150) may include at least one flange/ protuberance (156) formed at the external surface thereof, and said flange/ protuberance (156) may be adapted to mount the brake caliper (18) thereon and to facilitate laying out brake cables of braking units of the vehicle (1) on the fork device (100)/ the front fork (32)/ the vehicle (1).
[070] Within the scope of the present disclosure, the fork device (100) of the present disclosure is a multi-piece component and said fork device (100) eliminates the need to manufacture the whole fork device using casting methods. The base tube (110) and the one or more mounting elements (120) may be manufactured separately, and the mounting elements (120) may be removably engaged with the base tube (110). Therefore, in case any damage or defect is identified in any of the components of the fork device (100), said component can be easily replaced with a new component and it is not required to discard the whole fork device, thereby the fork device (100) of the present disclosure provides reducing scrap due to manufacturing defects, ease of manufacturing of the fork device (100) and reduces the manufacturing time and cost. Also, in case of producing customized fork device, the corresponding mounting element, and die thereof, if any, can be made separately and said mounting element may be engaged with the base tube, thus reducing development time of the fork device. Moreover, the threads (114, 134, 144, 154) formed on the base tube (110) and the one or more mounting elements (120) facilitates easy and smooth engagement of the

mounting elements (120) on the base tube (110), thereby providing easy and fast
assembly time.
[071] Further, the provision (132, 142, 152) defined in the wall of the mounting
elements (120) facilitates secure engagement of the mounting element (120) on the base
tube (110). Also, the flanges and/or protuberances (126) facilitates easy mounting of
the one or more components of the vehicle (1) on the mounting elements (120).
[072] For the reason, the base tube (110) of the fork device (100) is common for the
left fork (101) and the right fork (101') of the front fork (32), the fork device (100)
eliminates the need of making separate dies for manufacturing the left fork device and
the right fork device by casting, thus reducing manufacturing cost and time, and
reducing scrap.
