Abstract: [0036] The present invention relates to rectangular metal sheet extrusion (100). The developed apparatus is basically a customized bendable drawn profile with alternate extruded screw holes (101). Extruded holes are in alternate position with normal holes (102) to give more rigidity and flexibility in the area of clamping. The bending machine is used to give three bend (200) or four bend (400) structure to the extruded tapped sheet. The apparatus can be used to clamp different accessories as per the requirement.
Claims:We Claim:
1. An extruded bend metal profile, comprising:
a metal sheet (100) to clamp or hold an accessory, wherein the metal sheet is bendable to a pre-determined form;
an extruded tapped hole (101) and a normal hole (100) on the metal sheet; wherein the extruded hole and the normal hole is arranged in alternative manner adjacent to each other.
2. The extruded bend metal profile as claimed in claim 1, wherein the whole extruded bend metal profile is bent in three bends structure (200).
3. The extruded bend metal profile as claimed in claim 2, wherein the distance between two adjacent extruded holes is in the range of 28 to 30 mm pitch.
4. The extruded bend metal profile as claimed in claim 1, wherein the whole extruded bend metal profile can be bent in four bends structure (400).
5. The extruded bend metal profile as claimed in claim 4, wherein the distance between two adjacent extruded holes is in the range of 28 to 30 mm pitch.
6. The extruded bend metal profile as claimed in claim 1, wherein the extruded hole is used to give rigidity and flexibility.

[0002] The present invention relates to a rectangular metal sheet extrusion. More particularly relates to a customized bendable drawn profile with alternate extruded screw holes. Further the apparatus can be used to clamp different accessories as per the requirement.
Background of the invention
[0003] With the increase in demand for the use of bendable profile, there is a need for innovative style to suite the customer’s need. Accessories for which the bendable profiles are mostly used include connector channel, crossbars, clamps, electrical components or any type of supports etc. Mainly three processes are needed for developing such products, those are piercing, drawing and bending.
[0004] Bending is a shaping manufacturing method in which a permanent deformation is caused as a bending moment is applied to the material. Metal sheets are bent basically by folding of a surface portion with respect to the remaining surface of a sheet-metal strip. Depending on the methods and machines employed, relevant characteristics of the workpiece, such as bending edge, bending angle or bending radius, are defined and reproducible.
[0005] Extrusion is a process used to create objects of a fixed cross-sectional profile. A material is pushed through a die of the desired cross-section. The two main advantages of this process over other manufacturing processes are its ability to create very complex cross-sections, and to work materials that are brittle, because the material only encounters compressive and shear stresses. It also forms parts with an excellent surface finish.
[0006] Drawing is a similar process, which uses the tensile strength of the material to pull it through the die. This limits the amount of change which can be performed in one step, so it is limited to simpler shapes, and multiple stages are usually needed. Metal bars and tubes are also often drawn.
[0007] The patent application US 8257005 B2 titled, “Casing with a metallic sheet and a screw sealing an extruded tapped hole in the metallic sheet” discloses two things: first, a casing with a metallic sheet and second, a screw adapted to seal a reserved hole of the metallic sheet. The metallic sheet contains an extruded tapped hole surrounded by an arcuate portion in the metallic sheet. The product has extruded holes made all over the steel sheets. However, there is no bendable unit to give shape to the sheets for further usage.
[0008] The patent application US6109086 A titled, “Punch and method for forming slugless pierced conical extrusions” mainly states a method for forming a slugless pierced conical extrusion in the sheet material. The slugless pierced conical extrusion is adapted to receive a thread-forming screw which has many applications, including attaching components such as voltage regulators, deck lid hinges etc. The extruded tapped holes are made and arranged for attaching components according to the need of the user. However, there is no embodiment present here to show how specific arrangement will lead more rigidity of the clamping.
[0009] The patent application US 20120028068 A1 titled, “Method for producing profiled metal sheets” relates to a method of producing a profiled metal sheet. Here also bending unit is used to bend up parts of the profiled metal sheet. The metal sheets are bent after required proper dimension is chosen. However, there is no extra mechanism to give extra rigidity and extra flexibility to clamping accessories.
[0010] The patent application US 5413836 A titled, “Frame bar extrusion” mainly talks about product frame which is configured by a number of extrusions, a number of links, a number of bolts, a number of nuts and a number of nut positioners. The present disclosed patent claims that the plurality of extrusions can be assembled into a frame for various purposes. This assembly of extrusions will lead to construction of wide variety of frames. However, the mechanical strength and rigidity in clamping will not increase with the absence of bendable parts.
[0011] Hence, there exists a need for a bendable extruded steel frame which gives more rigidity and flexibility in holding accessories.
Summary of the Invention:
[0012] The present invention overcomes the drawbacks in the prior art and provides an apparatus for clamping accessories with flexibly and rigidity. It is achieved through bending of extruded rectangular metal profile sheet.
[0013] The apparatus comprises of a rectangular metal sheet to clamp or hold an accessory. Accessories for which the bendable profiles are mostly used are connector channel, crossbars, clamps, electrical components, any type of supports etc.
[0014] The apparatus comprises an extruded tapped hole and a normal hole on the metal sheet. Further, the position of extruded hole and the normal hole is in alternative manner adjacent to each other.
[0015] The extruded apparatus is then bent into predetermined structure, that is three bend and four bend structure, i.e frame bar (3 bend) and cross bar (4 bend). Sometimes the frame bar and cross bar profiles are tapped with M6x1.0 @ Extruded holes. Further, without tap also can be used where ever required the use of thread roll screws.
[0016] Thus, the invention provides a rigid and flexible way for clamping accessories. Due to presence of extruded hole, the clamping is done nut-less. Thereby increasing the strength in area of clamping. The product results in a profile which can be converted to “it’s piece and pieces to ensure peace of mind to the user”

Detailed description of the invention:
[0022] In the following detailed description, a reference is made to the accompanying drawings that form a part hereof, and in which the specific embodiments that may be used are shown by way of illustration. These embodiments are described in sufficient detail to enable those skilled in the art to practice the embodiments and it is to be understood that the logical, mechanical and other changes may be made without departing from the scope of the embodiments. The following detailed description is therefore, not to be taken in a limiting sense.
[0023] The production mechanism of extruded bendable metal profile mainly uses a multistage progressive tool. The steel coil at the first stage, feeds into the progressive tool through decoiler straightener and feeder. Hence, formed strips are put on the power press, and then progressive tool punches hole in them.
[0024] Punching process is further divided in two stages. In the first stage of operation, the holes are punched in the sheet. In the most preferred embodiment, the hole is of 5.2 mm diameter, wherein there is a pilot hole for extrusion. Second stage of operation is to locate these holes and extrude every alternate predefined hole to bigger diameter hole. In the most preferred embodiment, diameter of 5.45 ± 0.1 mm hole is made with 3.5 mm to 4 mm depth extrusion in 2 mm thick steel coil. The tool carries out this punching process through the whole required length of strip.
[0025] Cut-off tool cuts the terminal strip in required length. This tool is used when punching and draw operation are completed. To guide the strip, a stripper guide is used in the adjoining tools.
[0026] Once the required size component is produced from the progressive tool, then the strip moves for the tapping operation. Strip is loaded on tapping machine and with proper fixture; a tap is made on the drawn hole. In the most preferred embodiment it is of diameter 5.4± 0.1 mm with M6X1.0 mm thread rolled tap.
[0027] The tapped strip is made through go through press brake. In the most preferred embodiment a 2.5meter length press brake is used. The stopper is set for bending and the component is bend according to the required size.
[0028] Fig 1 illustrates the pierced frame bar before bending. In the preferred apparatus (100), the pierced holes are arranged in particular way to give more rigidity and flexibility to the clamping accessories. The piercing is mainly done in alternate position. The extruded hole (101) is present in alternate placement with the normal hole (102). The frame bar (103) therefore has pierced and tapped hole, which therefore avoids the use of nut at the time of fixing other components.
[0029] Fig 2 illustrates the three bending frame bar model. The forming view of the frame bar model (200), shows three bend structure. The holes will be present in the structure as they are bent. These holes give rigidity to the profile when clamping with accessories.
[0030] Fig 3 illustrates the pierced cross bar before bending. In the preferred apparatus (300), the pierced holes are arranged in particular way to give more rigidity and flexibility to the clamping accessories. The extruded hole (301) and normal hole (302) arrangement is alternate. The extruded hole in the sheet (303) gives the particular extruded area more strength that improves the clamping.
[0031] Fig 4 illustrates the four bending cross bar model. The forming view of the cross-bar model (400), shows four bend structures. The holes are present in the structure as they are bent. These holes give rigidity to the profile when clamping with accessories and moreover the use of nut is also avoided at the time of fixing another component.
[0032] In the most preferred embodiment the distance between two extruded holes is a pitch of 30 mm. In between 30mm pitch of extruded holes, a normal hole with no tapping is present.
[0033] The holes can be tapped if required or else thread roll screw can be used to form the thread and fix the accessories.
[0034] The present invention discloses pierced, drawn and tapped hole, which enhances the flexibility of fixing the accessories. Accessories can be anything like connector channel, cross bar, clamps, electrical components, supports, etc.
[0035] The present invention provides an apparatus which is simple and is suitable for the clamping any type of accessory. The user can arrange it according to the need.
