Abstract: Examples of a tuck-in unit (110) within a flow wrapping machine (100) are described. The tuck-in unit (110) includes a first tuck-in component and a second tuck-in component provided on either side of a feeder unit (104). Each of the first tuck-in component and the second tuck-in component comprises a shaft (202), a roller (208) coupled to a first end of the shaft (202), and an elastic member (206) coupled to the second end of the shaft (202). An incoming wrapped product (150) pushes the roller (208) to cause an oscillating motion of the shaft (202). The movement of the rollers (208) along the wrapped product (150) in the tuck-in unit (110) provides for formation of a tuck-in in a pillow pouch (155) to be subsequently formed. Additionally, an oscillatory motion of the roller (208) and of the shaft (202) is limited by the elastic member (206).
Claims:1. A tuck-in unit (110) to provide for formation of a tuck-in pillow pouch (155), the tuck-in unit (110) comprising,
a first tuck-in component provided on a first side of a feeder unit (104) configured to provide a product (108) wrapped in a film (114), and a second tuck-in component provided on a second side of the feeder unit (104), wherein each of the first tuck-in component and the second tuck-in component comprises,
a shaft (202);
a roller (208) coupled to a first end of the shaft (202), wherein an incoming wrapped product (150) pushes the roller (208) to cause an oscillatory motion of the shaft (202), and wherein a movement of the roller (208), as the wrapped product (150) passes through the tuck-in unit (110), provides for formation of a tuck-in in a pillow pouch (155) to be subsequently formed; and
an elastic member (206) coupled to a second end of the shaft (202), wherein a movement of the roller (208) and the oscillating motion of the shaft (202) is limited by the elastic member (206), and wherein a tension of elastic member (206) is based on a width of the product (108) such that, one oscillation of the shaft (202) is completed between two consecutive wrapped products (150).
2. A flow wrapping machine (100) to provide a product (108) packed in a tuck-in pillow pouch (155), the flow wrapping machine (100) comprising:
a feeder unit (104) to provide the product (108) wrapped in a film;
a tuck-in unit (110) to receive a wrapped product (150) to form a tuck-in-wrapped product, wherein the tuck-in-wrap product comprises a tuck on each of side seals of a pillow pouch (155) to be formed, and wherein the tuck-in unit (110) comprises a first tuck-in component provided on a first side of the feeder unit (104) and a second tuck-in component provided on a second side of the feeder unit (104), wherein each of the first tuck-in component and the second tuck-in component comprises,
a shaft (202);
a roller (208) coupled to a first end of the shaft (202), wherein an incoming wrapped product (150) pushes the roller (208) to cause an oscillatory motion of the shaft (202), and wherein a movement of the roller (208), as the wrapped product (150) passes through the tuck-in unit (110), provides for formation of a tuck-in in the pillow pouch; and
an elastic member (206) coupled to the second end of the shaft (202), wherein a movement of the roller (208) and the oscillatory motion of the shaft (202) is limited by the elastic member (206), and wherein a tension of elastic member (206) is based on a width of the product (108) such that one oscillation of the shaft (202) is completed between two consecutive wrapped products (150); and
a side sealing unit (112) to seal sides of the tuck-in-wrapped product to form a tuck-in pillow pouch (155) having the tucks in the side seals.
3. The flow wrapping machine (100) as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2, wherein the tuck-in unit (110) further comprises a bearing (204) coupled to a center of each of the shafts (202) to provide for movement of the shaft (202) about the center.
4. The flow-wrapping machine (100) as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2, wherein the shaft (202), the roller (208), the elastic member (206), and the bearing (204) are made of stainless steel.
5. The flow wrapping machine (100) as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2, wherein the second tuck-in component is mirror symmetric to the first tuck-in component.
6. The flow wrapping machine (100) as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2, wherein the tension of the elastic member (206) is based on an amount of pressure to be applied of the product (108).
7. The flow wrapping machine (100) as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2, wherein the elastic member (206) is a spring.
8. The flow-wrapping machine (100) as claimed in claim 6, wherein,
each of the springs (206) has a diameter in a range of about 8 mm to about 10 mm.
each of the roller (208) has a diameter in the range of about 25 mm to about 30 mm
each of the roller (208) has a thickness in the range of about 4 mm to about 6 mm; and
