Front Storage Unit For A Scooter Type Vehicle

Abstract: Given description discloses a front storage unit for a scooter is fixed with rear part of the front panel through different fastening means. Lower centre part of this front storage unit is fixed with the rear part of front panel through multiple dual lock fasteners. Said dual lock fasteners are positioned above a secondary cavity provided on the lower most edge of the front storage unit. Also the sides of said secondary cavity are formed such that an imaginary line joining sides of said secondary cavity and sides of a primary cavity formed on the upper most end of the front storage unit forms an acute angle with respect to the upper line of the secondary cavity. Use of said dual lock fasteners and corresponding upper and lower cavity ensures voluminous flexibility as well as strength of the storage unit with even with use of less plastic material.

FIELD OF INVENTION
[001] The present invention generally relates to a storage unit of a scooter type vehicle and more particularly to front storage unit of the scooter type vehicle.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[002] In scooter type vehicles, front storage units are generally of two types i.e. closed type and open type. In closed type storage units, a lid is provided with which the storage unit can be closed and locked. Due to closed lid over the storage unit, use to storage unit is limited to storage area available behind the closed lid. [003] Further, in order to access the items kept behind the lid, it needs to be unlocked every time thus creates user discomfort. Also, in closed type front storage units use of number of parts are more which increases its manufacturing cost and time.
[004] In open type front storage units, it is integrated with rear part of the front panel such that upper part of the storage unit is open thus facilitates more utility space. As there is no support on the upper side of this front storage unit, issues like rattling noise and vibration occurs.
[005] In order to reduce rattling noise of the open type front storage unit, thicker material is extended upward from the rear panel in the form of storage unit or a separate thick and stiff member is fixed with the rear panel such that it forms the front storage unit.
[006] Use of said thicker and stiffer material storage unit decreases the rattling noise of the open type front storage unit but limits the flexibility of said storage unit and hence utility issues for storing voluminous item arises.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[007] Main objective of present invention is to provide a front storage unit for a scooter type vehicle. Said front storage unit is fixed with rear part of the front panel through fastening means like screws etc. Lower centre part of the front storage unit is fixed with the rear part of front panel through multiple dual lock fasteners.
[008] Said dual lock fasteners are positioned above a secondary cavity provided on the lower most edge of the front storage unit. Sides of said secondary cavity are formed such that an imaginary line joining sides of said secondary cavity and sides of a primary cavity formed on the upper most end of the front storage unit forms an acute angle with respect to the upper line of the secondary cavity. [009] Summary provided above explains the basic features of the invention and does not limit the scope of the invention. Additional detailed information related to the enablement of the invention will be provided in the detailed description and accompanying claims. Scope of the invention shall be based on the claims provided.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
[010] The present invention will become more fully understood from the detailed description given herein below and the accompanying drawing(s). Provided drawings are incorporated in and constitute embodiments of the invention and illustrates several aspects of the invention and together with a description of the embodiments serve to explain the principles of the invention. Drawings given below are provided to support the description of the invention and
are not limiting the scope of the present invention. A brief description of the
drawing is as follows:
Figure 1 shows a scooter type vehicle describing main embodiments of the
vehicle and the invention.
Figure 2 is depicting rear view of the rear part of the front panel showing
essential embodiments of the invention.
Figure 3 and Figure 4 are showing enabling arrangement of the essential
embodiments of the claimed invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[Oil] The embodiments disclosed below are not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the invention to the precise forms disclosed in the following detailed description. Rather, the embodiments are chosen and described so that best enabling arrangements of the invention can be explained through all possible embodiments and examples of it. The invention may have application to all kind of two wheeled vehicles.
[012] Referring to Figure 1, scooter type vehicle S is shown depicting the embodiments of said scooter type vehicle S. Front part of the vehicle is covered with a front panel 116 and the rear part of the vehicle is covered with side covers 104. Rear space left between left and right side covers 104 is accommodating the tail lamp assembly 103 and a seat 100 is fixed in the upper area left between the side covers 104. Engine, fuel tank (not shown in figures) etc. are mounted in the housing space available between said side covers 104. Said engine is transmitting power to the rear wheel 107 through a transmission assembly 109.
[013] Further, as shown in Figure 1, rear part of the vehicle S is connected with
the front part of the vehicle S through a floor board 111. Steering assembly is
housed between the outer front panel 116 and inner front panel 115 and is
connected with a front fork assembly 113. Said front fork assembly 113 is further
fixed with the front wheel 112. Front wheel 112 and rear wheels 107 are covered
with front fender 114 and rear fender 105 respectively.
[014] Referring to Figure 2, Figure 3 and Figure 4 a front storage unit 118 is
shown fixed with the inner front panel 115. As a most suitable embodiment of the
invention, mentioned front storage unit 118 is formed with plate like structure.
Said front storage unit 118 is curved on sides and the bottom forming side and
bottom walls of the storage unit 118.
[015] Referring to Figure 3, front storage unit 118 is fixed with the inner front
panel 115 through mounting points 122, 123, 124 and 125 such that mentioned
mounting points are facilitating assembly between outer front panel 116 and inner
front panel 115.
[016] Further referring to Figure 4, rear view of the rear part or inner front panel
115, inner view of front storage unit 118 and side view of the rear part or inner
front panel 115 and front storage unit 118 are shown in order to elaborate enabling
assembly details of the essential embodiments of the invention. Mounting points
122,123,124,125 are fixed with corresponding mounting points 122i, 123i, 124i,
125i on the inner front panel 115.
[017] Further referring back to Figure 2, the upper edge of the storage unit 118
is defining a primary cavity Cp lying below an imaginary line il joining the upper
mounting points 122, 124. The bottom wall of the storage unit 118 is defining a secondary cavity C that is lying below an imaginary line i2 joining the lower mounting points 123, 125. This secondary cavity is extending upwards in the storage unit 118.
[018] Further, one or more dual lock fasteners 119 are fixed with said secondary cavity C on the lower most edge of the centre part of the front storage unit 118. These dual lock fasteners 119 are further locked with corresponding dual lock fastener set 119i on the inner front panel 115.
[019] Above mentioned fastening mechanism helps in maintaining flexibility of the front storage unit 118 due to its particular mounting location. As shown in Figure 2 and Figure 4, sides of mentioned secondary cavity C are formed such that an imaginary line 120/121 is joining sides of said secondary cavity C and sides of a primary cavity Cp formed on the upper most end of the front storage unit 118 forms an acute angle with the upper edge of the secondary cavity C. [020] Described front storage unit 118 and its mounting mechanism ensures minimum rattling vibrations as well as maintains usability flexibility of the front storage unit especially due to relative primary Cp and secondary C cavities and position of dual lock fasteners 119.
WHAT IS CLAIMED IS
1) A scooter type vehicle, comprising:
a front panel defining a front part of the front panel and a rear part of the front panel; and
a front storage unit mounted on the rear part of the front panel such that sides of said front storage unit are extended rearward forming a plurality of side walls of the storage unit and lower side of the storage unit is extending backward forming a bottom wall of the storage unit;
characterized in that, the storage unit is secured with the inner front panel at a plurality of upper mounting points and a plurality of lower mounting points such that said mounting points are joining the front part of the front panel and the rear part of the front panel; and
the upper edge of the storage unit is defining a primary cavity lying below an imaginary line joining the plurality of upper mounting points and the bottom wall of the storage unit is defining a secondary cavity lying below an imaginary line joining the plurality of lower mounting points.
The scooter type vehicle, as claimed in claim 1, wherein a plurality of imaginary lines are joining edges of said secondary cavity to the edges of a primary cavity such that said imaginary line forms an acute angle with the upper line of the secondary cavity C.
The scooter type vehicle, as claimed in claim 1, wherein atleast one flexible mounting means is connecting the centre part of the bottom wall of the storage unit.
The scooter type vehicle, as claimed in claim 3, wherein the flexible mounting means is a dual lock fastener.
The scooter type vehicle, as claimed in claim 3, wherein the flexible mounting means are secured above the secondary cavity of the storage unit.
