FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to front timing belt cover with integrated clamp
mounting.
PRIOR ART
Front Timing Belt Cover (FTBC) of an automobile engine is an integral part of
an engine. Generally it has following functions:-
a. To increase life of timing belt cover by protecting it from dust, oil and
water seepage in the timing belt region.
b. To cover the timing belt and thus providing protection to user of the
vehicle from moving parts of the timing system.
In engine layout there are many engine components which are assembled on
the engine. These peripherals include engine auxiliaries, coolant hoses and
electric wire harnesses. Lay outing of these peripherals require may mounting
points on the engine and vehicle body.
Reference may be made to fig. 1 and 2 showing conventional front timing belt
cover, in which brackets (as shown in fig) are provided for mounting of electric
wire harness and coolant hoses.
In the conventional design, clamps are shown near the FTBC which are used
for mounting of the harnesses and hoses. These clamps are generally welded or
bolted with the rear or front timing belt cover.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
An'object of the present invention is to provide front timing belt cover with
integrated clamp mounting, which eliminates bracket and metal insert.
Another object of the present invention is to provide front timing belt cover
with integrated clamp mounting, which makes the whole system light in weight
and cost effective.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION
According to this invention, there is provided front timing belt cover with
integrated clamp mounting comprising of a mounting for clamp integrally
provided with engine cover to mount coolant hoses and wire harnesses.

the ensuing description when read in conjunction with the accompanying

Fig. 4 and 5 shows: front timing belt cover with integrated clamp mounting of
the present invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION WITH REFERENCE TO THE
ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS:
Reference may be made to fig. 3, wherein the engine cover (1) is provided with a
support (2) for clamp, wherein said support (2) is welded or bolted to a clamp
(3) for mounting of the harnesses and hoses. Provision of the support for clamp
increases weight of the whole assembly, which also adds to the cost.
Hence, provision is required to be made to overcome the abovementioned
drawbacks.
Therefore, the present invention has been proposed, which is directed to front
timing belt cover with integrated clamp mounting. Now, reference may be made
to fig. 4 8s 5, in which front timing belt cover (1) is mounted with a clamp (2).
For mounting of said clamp on the cover, a slot (S) is integrally provided on the
belt cover (1). So that, the clamp can be detachably mounted on the belt cover
through said slot. The clamp is used to hold coolant hoses and wire harnesses.
For disassembly of said clamp, clip/tong is used.
FTBC of the present invention is designed to serve following additional
functions: -
Integral mounting point on FTBC to provide mounting point to the electric wire
harnesses and coolant/fuel hoses.
Advantageous features
1. Elimination of additional bracket and metal inserts to facilitate mounting
of the electric wire harnesses and coolant hoses, causing reduction in
total no of parts.
2. Provision of slot in which any clamp can be easily assembled and easily
disassembled.
3. Cost effective, and light weight of the system.
It is to be noted that the present invention is susceptible to modifications,
adaptations and changes by those skilled in the art. Such variant embodiments
employing the concepts and features of this invention are intended to be within
the scope of the present invention, which is further set forth under the
following claims:

WE CLAIM:
1. Front timing belt cover with integrated clamp mounting comprising of a
mounting for clamp integrally provided with engine cover to mount
coolant hoses and wire harnesses.
2. Front timing belt cover as claimed in claim 1, wherein said mounting
comprising a slot for detachably mounting clamp.
3. Front timing belt cover as claimed in claim 1 or 2, wherein said belt cover
is associated with the advantageous features such as herein described.
4. Front timing belt cover with integrated clamp mounting substantially as
herein described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
