PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner
in which it is to be performed.
FIELD OF INVENTION
The present invention generally relates to under run protection device for vehicles and more particularly to a front under run protection device with front exhaust mounting assembly for vehicles.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
The vehicles are equipped with under-run protection devices (UPD) to enhance the safety of occupants in the vehicle in the event of under-run. During a collision between the vehicles, there is a risk that the passenger vehicle may penetrate under the front or rear part of the vehicle. The parts of the vehicle enter the passenger compartment of the vehicle with the high force, causing serious injuries to the passengers of the vehicle. In conventional system, the exhaust system is located near the fuel tank, which is not safe as it may explode at any time because of the heat generated. Also the ground clearance reduces when the exhaust system is mounted near the fuel tank. More over when ever there is an accident, a load is exerted on the front under load protection cross beam resulting in bending of the cross beam, hence there is a need to reduce the bending load exerted on the cross beam. Hence there is a need to provide an improved FUPD with an exhaust mounting assembly to protect the vehicle from under-run and improve the ground clearance of the vehicle.
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
The primary object of the present invention is to provide a front under run protection
device with a front exhaust mounting assembly for vehicles.
Yet another object of the present invention is to increase the ground clearance of the
exhaust system in the vehicle.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a front under-run protection
device to support and withstand the bending load exerted on the FUPD beam.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The embodiments herein relate to provide a front under-run protection device (FUPD) with front exhaust system for vehicles to increase the ground clearance of the vehicle. A front under-run protection device and exhaust mounting assembly comprises at least two mounting bracket mounted between FUPD beam and chassis frame. Said atleast two mounting bracket includes a front curved profile, a plurality of ribs, a lower clamp and an upper clamp. An exhaust system is supported at said curved profile of mounting brackets with the help of a strap and a clamping arrangement. Said strap and clamping arrangement is connected to said chassis frame. Said plurality of ribs provides strength to the mounting brackets. The lower clamp and upper clamp in said atleast two mounting brackets are mounted between FUPD beam and chassis frame to support and withstand the bending load exerted on the FUPD beam.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The embodiments herein relate to provide a front under-run protection device (FUPD) with front exhaust system for vehicles to increase the ground clearance of the vehicle. The under-run protection device comprises atleast two mounting bracket 3, 4. Said atleast two mounting bracket 3, 4 is clamped between a chassis frame 1 and a FUPD beam 2. The exhaust system including a silencer 11 and catalytic
converter 10 is supported in front of said mounting bracket 3, 4 and clamped to said mounting frame. The front under-run mounting brackets 3,4 are provided to support FUPD beam to with stand the bending load exerted on the FUPD beam.
FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of the front under-run protection device with front exhaust system, according to present invention. The front under-run protection device comprises at least two mounting brackets 3 and 4, Said mounting brackets 3,4 having a curved profile 5, a plurality of ribs, a lower clamp 6 and a upper clamp 7. A plurality of ribs is provided in said mounting brackets 3, 4 for reinforcement. An exhaust system is supported by said two mounting bracket 3,4. A strap 14, 15 and a clamping arrangement 12, 13 is provided for mounting said exhaust system to chassis frame. The said mounting bracket 3 and 4 is mounted between FUPD beam 2 and the chassis frame 1 facilitating to withstand the bending load exerted on the FUPD beam 2.
The lower clamp 6 and upper clamp 7 includes a plurality of holes provided for mounting with FUPD beam 2 chassis frame 1. The lower clamp 6 is inverted L-shaped and the upper clamp 7 is projected vertically upright for mounting to chassis frame 1. The mounting bracket 3, 4 acts as a rigid device to prevent the under-run of vehicles during accidents. The front portion of the mounting bracket 3 and 4 having a curved profile 5 at front portion to hold said exhaust system 9 and provide reinforcement to said bracket 3 and 4. The outer and rear portion of the mounting bracket 3 and 4 are plane surface. The reinforcement ribs 8 are provided on inner portion of the mounting bracket 3 and 4 to provide strength to the mounting bracket 3 and 4. The exhaust system 9 including a silencer 11 and catalytic converter 10 is supported in front of said mounting bracket 3 and 4 at said curved profile 5 and clamped to the chassis frame 1 with the help of mounting clamps 12 and 13. The mounting clamp 12, 13 includes a rubber buffer to avoid vibration of the exhaust assembly.
FIG. 2 shows an exploded view of the under-run protection device of FIG.1. It shows the left hand mounting bracket 3 and right hand mounting bracket 4. The mounting brackets 3 and 4 are clamped between the chassis frame 1 and FUPD cross beam 2 to protect FUPD cross beam 2 against bending load in the event of crash. The exhaust system 9 including catalytic converter 10 and the silencer 11 is clamped to the chassis frame 1 with the help of silencer mounting clamps 12 and 13. The exhaust system 9 is mounted above the cross beam 2 and is supported at the curved reinforcement 5 provided in the mounting bracket 3 and 4.
