Abstract: An integrated front fender wheel cover for a scooter type motorcycle is made in a three piece construction having a left side piece extending circularly downwards having a L shaped wall to accommodate one leg of front fork, a right side piece extending circularly downwards and also having L shaped wall to accommodate one leg of front fork, and a top piece connecting the left side and right piece.
Front wheel cover
Field of the invention:
This present invention relates to "Front wheel cover" and more particularly related to a front wheel cover for a scooter type motorcycle.
Background of the invention:
Conventionally in two wheeled vehicles the front fender is disposed above the front wheel between a pair of left and right front suspension supporting the front wheel, which protects the frame and the body panels from mud and water splashes. However in case of scooter type motorcycles having smaller wheels, the wheel assembly are relatively lower compared to bigger wheeled motorcycles. Such shorter wheel assemblies are provided sheet metal rims. The wheel rim, brake panels, Speedo meter hub drive are exposed water / mud while wading through in rainy reason. Under such conditions of usage the sheet metal rims gets corroded resulting in safety hazard and hence replacement. In order to overcome this in the prior art, alloy wheel rims are used which needs higher stiffness thereby increasing the cost. Further water is also prone to enter to brake drum thru' the brake panels causing poor braking performance. Hence there is a need to protect the wheel assemblies from such environmental factors on scooter type motorcycle having sheet metal wheel rims. Generally in the said vehicles apart from front fender there is no arrangement provided for covering the front wheel against scuffs and impact damage.
The present invention thus seeks to provide a new and inventive form of front wheel cover, which is very effective, yet is easily fitted to a range of wheels whilst being easy to remove and replace when required.
Object of the invention:
The present invention proposes a front wheel cover, which includes substantially a dome shaped cover having a front fender integrated with it.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a front wheel cover which will protect the wheel rim, brake drum, speedometer drive and front fork from mud splashes.
It is another object of the present invention to provide an arrangement for covering the front wheel against scuffs and impact damage.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a front wheel cover structure without affecting the airflow through it.
It is further an object of the present invention to provide a front wheel cover that would enhance the appearance of the vehicle.
Other features and advantages of the invention will be apparent from the following detailed description taken in conjunction will the accompanying drawings that illustrate by the way of example, various features of the embodiment of the invention.
Brief Description of the Drawings:
The present invention will become more fully understood from the detailed description given herein below and the accompanying drawings which are given by way of illustration only, and thus are not limitative of the present invention, and wherein
FIG. 1 is a view of two wheeled scooter type motor vehicle according to the present invention.
FIG. 2 showing the left side exploded view of the integrated front fender wheel cover according to the present invention.
FIG. 3 showing the perspective view of the integrated front fender wheel cover according to the present invention.
FIG. 4 showing assembled condition of the integrated front fender wheel cover according to the present invention.
Detail Description of the Drawings:
The present invention deals with a rear wheel cover for a two wheeled vehicle.
For the purpose of illustration it will be illustrated with the help of a scooter type two wheeled vehicle.
Any known scooter type vehicle can be divided into three major portions, the front portion F, the middle portion M and the rear/tail portion R. Referring to figure 1, the front portion comprises of the head tube, the handle bar, the front suspension, front fender, the front wheel with necessary brakes and the body panels; the middle portion comprises of floor board , the seat support, the fuel tank , the battery, the utility box etc; and the rear/tail portion comprises of the engine support, the riders seat, the rear shock absorber, rear fender and the back wheel with suspensions.
In assembling such a vehicle, especially the body covers, there are many sub assemblies, which are independently mounted onto the frame at different locations. The body covers are mounted to the frame using brackets.
According to the present invention the front portion of the two wheeled vehicle is provided with an integrated front fender and wheel cover which is present on either sides of the wheel shown in Figure 2. The said integrated front fender and wheel cover covers both the legs of the front fork (201, 202) and is mounted on either side of the fork tube. The said front wheel cover is circular in shape and covers three fourth of the wheel circularly. Referring to Figure 2, the said integrated front fender wheel cover is a three piece construction, having left (203), right (204) and top piece (205) which are fixed together to cover the wheel with legs of front fork by the means known in the art. The said wheel cover is connected to the top piece (205) approximately by 120-150 degrees at the topmost portion of the wheel cover, which forms front fender structure. The said integrated front fender and the wheel cover thus forms a domed structure, which does not rotate along with the wheel. The said integrated front fender and the wheel cover, is preferably made up of polymer resin or any such material.
Figure 3 shows a perspective view of the integrated front fender wheel cover. An L shaped wall (206) is provided on the left and right side piece so as to cover the legs of the front fork.
Figure 4 shows the integrated front fender wheel cover in assembled condition.
The invention being thus described, it will be obvious that the same may be varied in many ways. Such variations are not to be regarded as a departure from the spirit and scope of the invention, and all such modifications as would be obvious to one skilled in the art are intended to be included within the scope of the claims.
We Claim:
1. A three piece integrated front fender wiles cover for a scooter type motorcycle, comprising:
a left side piece extending circularly downwards having a L shaped wall
to cover one leg of front fork;
a right side piece extending circularly downwards having a L shaped wall to cover one leg of front fork; and
a top piece connecting the left side and right piece.
2. The three piece integrated front fender wheel cover as claimed in claim 1, wherein the said right side piece extends downward circularly to cover preferably three fourth of the wheel.
3. The three piece integrated front fender wheel cover as claimed in claim 1, wherein the said left side piece extends downward circularly to cover preferably three fourth of the wheel.
4. The three piece integrated front fender wheel cover as claimed in claim 1, wherein the said integrated front fender wheel cover is preferably of polymer resin.
