Specification

Claims:CLAIMS
We claim:
1. 1. A method of producing Fibre reinforced plastic product with holographic glittering effect and hologram like effects, comprising,
a) the first step of applying the holographic glittered transparent gelcoat,
b) the second step of sticking of the multiple layers using polymer resin and
c) the third step of applying the multiple layers of mat and inject / infuse the coloured resin, to give a smoother finish and better aesthetic value, wherein such gel coat is mixed with particles that can create a glittering effect.

2. The invention as claimed in claim 1, wherein the gel coat produces a glittering effect in silver, gold or in any colour combination, producing a hologram like effect.

3. The invention as claimed in claim 1, wherein the gel coat mixed with glitter material may be applied by hand brush or by spray gun or by any mechanical means.

4. A Fibre reinforced plastic with a glitter finish in a choice of colour, manufactured as per the invention claimed in claim 1.

3. Preamble to the Description :

The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed.

DESCRIPTION
Field of the Invention:
The present invention is related to the products used in theme parks and water parks and also used in playground equipments. More particularly the invention relates to achieving an attractive glittering surface.
Background of the Invention
This invention can be applied to the products including slides, canopy, bridges, ladder/steps, roofing, characters, railings and theming components for water parks, theme parks and play ground equipment made with FRP (Fibre reinforced plastic).
Theme parks, Water parks, playground equipments are important attractions for people thronging theme parks and water parks. The products offer relief from the heat and also users find the rides as very exciting and also safe. Therefore these products are very popular among children and adults.
Various types of the products have been devised in the past to provide different types of fun and attraction to the users. In a typical water slide, a rider slides his body downward along a surface. The surface is a flume, which is a winding tubular water slide or chute, which also carries a flow of water from a source at a higher elevation to a landing pool at a lower elevation. The water provides a lubricating film between the rider and the surface of the slide, thereby enabling easy sliding and increasing speed of the rider down the flume.
Currently the products are manufactured in fibre reinforce plastic or in sheet metal. These products have either a painted finish or use stickers or integrate colours in the outer layer of the products during the process of manufacturing. These products are manufactured by traditional hand lamination process or light resin transfer moulding process or by any other traditional method. These products are available in single colour or multiple colours with transparent and opaque effects or a combination of these.
Objects of the Invention
A primary objective of the invention is to improve the aesthetic look of the products used in water parks, theme parks and in the playground equipment.
Another objective of the invention is to provide a novel method of manufacture of the products with glittering effects.
Summary of the invention
The invention discloses a novel method of production of FRP product with glittering effect that can be used in water park, theme park and in outdoor and indoor playgrounds. The product is made in multiple layers of fibre mats and stuck together using polymer resin. The outer layer of the product comprises a thin transparent or coloured polymer gel coat to protect the multiple layers from abrasion. The outer layer of the product also provides a smoother finish and offers better aesthetic value. The glittering effect is obtained due to the mixing of particles made up of polyester film and holographic effect printed on it with the vacuum metalizing process with the gel coat.
The glitter material is made with special grade polyester film printed with the holographic effect. This glitter material is later cut in regular and fine shape as per the requirements. Glitter materials are available in multiple colours and it is also possible to obtain gold, or silver colour effects also. These can be combined in various combinations and compositions on transparent gel coat or on multiple colour or mono colour gel coat.
The process of making sparkling / glittering fibre reinforced plastic products involves formulation of a holographic glitter top coat with a pigment of choice.
Formulation :
Top glitter coat 100% + 1% MEKP (Methyl Ethyl Ketone Peroxide) for spraying
10% pigment (as per choice of colour) + 90% Resin (Ortho-Thallic) for Flange lamination and also for hand lay-up process
10% pigment + 90% resin (ISO/LRTM grade) for injection
Method of making Holographic glitter effect on the FRP for LRTM
The required amount of top coat is taken as per the selected module. The top coat is then sprayed using Cup gun / Pilot gun to get 1000 micron DFT (dry film thickness). The module is then covered and the injection by pigmented resin is done as per regular LRTM (Light resin transfer molding) process.
Method of making Holographic glitter effect on the FRP for Hand Lay-up
The required amount of top coat is taken as per the selected module. The top coat is then sprayed using Cup gun / Pilot gun to get the desired DFT. Then matting as per regular hand lay-up process is performed with pigmented resin instead of regular resin.
Critical factors and parameters to be considered includes Skill of the painter, Glitter top coat, MEKP and AAP (Acetyl Acetone Peroxide) ratio, constant air pressure, pigment and resin ratio, recirculation of the resin before injection to avoid air bubbles, prefect sealing of ports and checking leakage in seals.
