Fuel Consumption Measurement Mechanism For Motorized Vehicle

Abstract: A fuel system with a fuel consumption measurement mechanism for a motorized vehicle is disclosed. In this mechanism fuel flows from the fuel tank to the carburettor passing through the fuel vault and the fuel reservoir such that the fuel reservoir is filled with a predefined volume which can be used under no fuel flow condition of the vehicle and hence accurate fuel consumption rate can be measured. Said fuel system includes a fuel tank, a fuel vault connected to the fuel storage tank through a fuel flow control valve connected to the fuel tank through one fuel channel. It further includes a fuel reservoir connected to the fuel vault through another fuel channel and a carburettor which is connected to the fuel reservoir through a third fuel flow channel.

Specification

FIELD OF INVENTION

The invention generally relates to a fuel system of a motorized vehicle and more particularly to a fuel system having a fuel consumption measurement mechanism.

BACKGROUND

Generally, in motorized vehicles with manual fuel cork, fuel consumption rate is checked by manufacturer/ dealer by direct fuel supply to carburetor from a separate fuel container, which is not installed in the vehicle.

Fuel consumption rate measured by above said method sometimes differs from the fuel consumption rate in actual road conditions, when measured by the vehicle user.

As the flow of fuel from the vehicle fuel tank to carburettor depends upon the usage of vehicle such as driving road conditions etc, thus the fuel consumption rate as claimed by the manufacturer differs from the fuel consumption rate calculated by the vehicle user.

Thus there is a requirement of an arrangement by which accurate fuel consumption rate can be calculated by the vehicle user.

SUMMARY

The present invention provides a fuel system with a fuel consumption measurement mechanism for a motorized vehicle. Said fuel system includes a fuel tank, a fuel vault connected to the fuel storage tank through a fuel flow control valve which is further connected to the fuel tank through

a first set of fuel flow channels. Said fuel consumption measurement mechanism further includes a fuel reservoir connected to the fuel vault through a second fuel flow channel and a carburettor which is connected to the fuel reservoir through a third fuel flow channel. Fuel flows from the fuel tank to the carburettor passing through the fuel vault and the fuel reservoir such that the fuel reservoir is filled with a predefined volume which can be used under no fuel flow condition of the vehicle and hence accurate fuel consumption rate can be measured.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

The present invention will become more fully understood from the detailed description given herein below and the accompanying drawing which is incorporated in and constitute embodiments of the invention- illustrate several aspects of the invention and together with a description of the embodiments serve to explain the principles of the invention and thus, are not limited of the present invention and a brief description of the drawing is as follows:

Figure 1 is an exemplary representation of the embodiments of the invention.

Figure 2 is another exemplary representation of the embodiments of the invention.

Figure 3 is describing the mounting arrangement of the embodiments of the invention.

Figure 4 is explaining the essential embodiments of the invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The embodiments disclosed below are not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the invention to the precise forms disclosed in the following detailed description. Rather, the embodiments are chosen and described in view of enablement of the claimed invention through provided examples. The invention may have application(s) to all types of vehicles. The scope of the invention is entirely based upon the claims provided.

Reference is made to figure 1 and figure 2, which illustrates exemplary embodiments of the invention wherein fuel from the fuel tank (not shown in figure) flows to the carburettor 104 through a fuel channel 107 having multiple channels connected to the fuel vault 106 through a fuel control valve 113.

Said channels 107 are facilitating flow of the fuel to the fuel vault 106 as per the available path which is decided by manually by adjusting the fuel control valve knob 108,109,110. Fuel from fuel vault 106 flows to the fuel reservoir 114 and fill that up to a predefined level (e.g. half in case of figure 1 and full in case of figure 2).

In case of reserve fuel condition 109 and main fuel condition 108 fuel from the fuel reservoir 114 flows through the third fuel flow channel 103 whereas the fuel volume in said reservoir 114 remains same.

Further, as shown in figure 3 and figure 4, at no fuel flow option 110 fuel from the fuel reservoir 114 flows to the carburettor 104 and the vehicle user can calculate the fuel consumption rate of the vehicle more accurately as the predefined volume of the reservoir fuel is not dependent on the main fuel flow.

The fuel consumption rate measurement mechanism 100 is a facility provided to the vehicle user so that the user can measure the fuel consumption rate of the vehicle for his / her satisfaction.

User can measure said fuel consumption rate by switching off the main fuel flow or the reserve fuel flow such that only predefined volume of fuel which is stored in the fuel consumption measurement mechanism 100 i.e. in fuel reservoir 114, second fuel flow channel 105, and the third fuel flow channel 103 and the carburetor bowl is supplied to engine.

WHAT IS CLAIMED IS

1) A fuel system for a motorized vehicle, comprising:

a) a fuel tank;

b) a fuel vault connected to the fuel tank through a fuel flow control valve; wherein, the fuel flow control valve is connected to the fuel tank through a plurality of first fuel flow channel;

c) a fuel consumption measurement mechanism comprising a fuel reservoir, a second fuel flow channel and a third fuel flow channel;

wherein, the reservoir connected to the fuel vault through the second fuel flow channel and the third fuel flow channel is configured to facilitate output of said reservoir; and

d) a carburettor connected to the fuel reservoir through the third fuel flow channel;

wherein, the fuel flows from the fuel tank to the carburettor passing through the fuel vault and the fuel reservoir such that the fuel reservoir is filled with a predefined volume.

2) A fuel system, as claimed in claim 1, wherein the plurality of first fuel flow channel is defining a main fuel flow passage and a reserve fuel passage.

3) A fuel system, as claimed in claim 2, wherein the plurality of first fuel flow channel is regulated by the fuel flow control valve on predefined conditions for main fuel flow, reserve fuel flow and no fuel flow.

4) A fuel system, as claimed in claim 1, wherein the fuel reservoir is configured to facilitate fuel consumption measurement such that stored fuel is sent to the carburettor under no fuel flow condition.
