PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION
The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed.
Field of invention
The present invention pertains to the field of sedimentor mounting system in a vehicle and more particularly this relates to fuel filter and sedimentor mounting assembly in vehicles.
Background of the Invention
Generally the fuel system of vehicles having fuel tank, fuel lines, fuel sedimentor, fuel filter,
high pressure pump, high pressure pipe, common fuel rail and electronically controlled fuel
injectors.
The primary function of the fuel system in automobiles is to carry fuel from fuel tank to the
fuel injectors. In addition to the fuel supply to the injectors, the said fuel system also carry the
excess fuel available at common rail, back to the fuel tank mounted on the chassis frame.
Generally sedimentor and fuel filter are mounted in engine compartment with the help of
mounting brackets, so that the said fuel sedimentor and filter remains fixed at one location
when the vehicle is moving. The function of fuel sedimentor is to separate the water available
in fuel and that of the fuel filter is to trap the impurities available in fuel from reaching the fuel
injector.
The mounting bracket for fuel sedimentor and fuel filter is bolted to wheel arch of vehicle in
the engine compartment. For maintainance, the sedimentor drain plug is not easly accessible
to the user in existing mounting bracket assebmly; it is also difficult to remove the sedimentor
and fuel filter from the mounting location for maintainance and repairs.
In order to address above said problems, the present sedimentor mounting assembly is
developed such that the sedimentor drain plug can easly be accessed by the user during
service, it can also be easly removed from the mounting location for repaire and
maintainance.
