Fuel Tank For A Motorcycle

Abstract: Present invention provides a fuel tank for a motorcycle with more stable mounting mechanism especially on its front side. Said fuel tank has an upper cover and a bottom cover integrated to each other. The bottom cover is fixed with a frame structure through rear, centre and front mounting mechanisms. As said before this invention improves front mounting mechanism such that it multiple cushion cavities on front bottom part of the fuel tank securing cushioning elements integrated with the frame. The frame with said cushioning element is fixed with the cushion cavity and supports front part of the fuel tank. Said cushioning cavity is characterized by its C shaped inwardly dented structure in the bottom of the fuel tank.

Specification

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The invention generally relates to fuel tank of a motorcycle and more particularly to mounting mechanism of said fuel tank over frame of the motorcycle.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

In motorcycles fuel tank is mounted over the frame through rear mounting, side mountings and the front mounting. Generally front mounting arrangement has rubber cushions integrated with the frame which is fixed with cup shaped mounting brackets on the bottom of the fuel tank. Said mounting bracket is welded over a reinforcement plate which is further welded with the fuel tank bottom wall on both right and left side.

This existing arrangement of fuel tank front mounting is welding based and liable to cause distortions causing dimensional inconsistencies. This results in uneven seating of the rubber cushions when assembled on the frame members leading to stress on the rubber cushions causing damage over a period of time. Present invention provides a simple and durable solution for the above described issue.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Main objective of the present invention is to provide a fuel tank for a motorcycle with a specific front mounting mechanism having multiple cushion cavities on front bottom part of the fuel tank holding cushioning elements which are integrated with the frame.

This mechanism is supporting front portion of the fuel tank such that there cannot be any dimensional discrepancy of this supporting system as it is sitting in a dented structure i.e. cushioning cavity on the bottom of the fuel tank unit.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

The present invention will become more fully understood from the detailed description given herein below and the accompanying drawing which is incorporated in and constitute embodiments of the invention, illustrate several aspects of the invention and together with a description of the embodiments serve to explain the principles of the invention and thus, are not limited of the present invention and a brief description of the drawing is as follows:

Figure 1 is depicting fuel tank unit and novel embodiments of the invention.

Figure 2, Figure 3 and Figure 7 are the isometric views from the different angles of the claimed invention in order to explain the position and structure of the claimed embodiments of the invention.

Figure 4, Figure 5 and Figure 6 are depicting constructional details of the essential embodiments of the invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The embodiments disclosed below are not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the invention to the precise forms disclosed in the following detailed description. Rather, the embodiments are chosen and described for enablement purpose of the invention. The invention may have application to all types of vehicles. The scope of the invention is entirely based upon the claims provided.

Reference is made to Figure 1 to Figure 7 for description of the claimed embodiments of the invention. As shown, fuel tank is having an upper cover U and a bottom cover B fixed with each other and mounted over the frame from a rear point R, a centre point C and a front point F.

Conventionally, a pair of bracket is located over the front part bottom cover of the fuel tank but due to usage wear and tear of the vehicle this welded bracket can break and fuel tank gets displaced from its location which may lead to accidents.

As shown in provided figures, present invention is providing an arrangement of front mounting in which mentioned bracket is not required as the bottom cover B of the fuel tank is modified in such a way that front tank support unit 103 sits in bottom cover B itself.

As provided in enclosed figures, front part F of the bottom cover B has an inner wall 100 and an outer wall 102. Said inner wall of the fuel tank has a cup type cavity structure 101, which is extended outwards from inner wall 100 to outer wall 102 (as shown in Figure 2 and Figure 3).

Referring to Figure 4 and 5, constructional details of said cavities 101 in the inner wall 100 of the bottom cover B of the fuel tank are described. Inner wall 100 is bent in such a way that it is forming a cup type or c shape structures 101 on left and right side of the inner wall 100 of the bottom cover B.

A front support structure 105 with is further integrated with the frame, is connected with the support cushions 104 on its both ends such that said cushions 104 are secured in mentioned c shape cavity 101 on the inner wall 100 and acting as a front support mechanism for the fueltank.

Above described mechanism provides a cost effective, secure and easy way to assemble or mount fuel tank in the motorcycle.

WHAT IS CLAIMED IS

1) A fuel tank for a motorcycle comprising an upper cover and a bottom cover integrated to each other and the bottom cover is fixed with a frame structure through rear, centre and front mounting mechanisms such that front mounting mechanism is defining a plurality of cushion cavity on front bottom part of the fuel tank securing atleast one cushioning element integrated with the frame such that frame with said cushioning element is fixed with the cushion cavity and supporting front part of the fuel tank; wherein said cushioning cavity is characterized by its dented structure in the bottom of the fuel tank.

2) The fuel tank for a motorcycle, as claimed in claim 1, wherein the . cushioning cavity is configured to house cushioning elements fixed with the frame of the motorcycle.

3) The fuel tank for a motorcycle, as claimed in claim 1, wherein the dented structure is defining a C shaped inwardly curved cavity.
