Fully powered Fourth Part Boom Assembly With Synchronized Boom Extension-Retraction and Rope Compensation Mechanism
Field of the invention:
The present invention is generally related to a four part boom to be used in a crane, particularly in a pick and carry crane, wherein said four part boom assembly is provisioned with automatic boom extension-retraction mechanism synchronized with simultaneous rope compensation thereof.
Said four part boom assembly comprises of a main boom (that is, mother boom), disposed with three boom extensions, namely 1st boom extension, 2nd boom extension and 3rd boom extension; wherein said boom assembly comprises following novel and characteristic constructional as well as functional features:
(i) 3rd boom extension is not a manual extension and is so assembled with the 2nd boom extension that it gets automatically extended and retracted in proposed boom assembly, preferably with the 2nd boom extension therein;
(ii) 3rd boom extension is so assembled in the complete boom assembly that the rope compensation function is also automatically performed alongwith the boom extension or retraction operation;
(iii) The construction and assembly of various components of the proposed four part boom assembly, including the boom extension mechanism through hydraulic cylinder and unique rope routing arrangements thereof as well as the load handling rope-arrangement thereof, is so novel that the operator of the crane easily conducts boom extension or retraction operation, synchronized with the simultaneous rope compensation function of the load handling rope-arrangement of the said boom assembly, particularly through single lever operation;
(iv) The proposed four part boom assembly comprises a novel rope mechanism for extension & retraction of 3rd boom extension.
Background and Object of the invention:
Usually three part boom assembly with synchronized boom extension/retraction and rope compensation mechanism is known for using in a crane, particularly in pick and carry cranes. In a conventional four part boom assembly, the fourth part (third boom extension) is a manual component which is manually mounted at the distal end of the second boom extension and the jib head is mounted at the distal end of said fourth part boom. Thus the load holding rope, assembled with the jib head, passed through the fourth part boom, which is basically the integrated third boom extension therein.
Therefore the instant invention proposes a four part boom assembly to be used in a crane, particularly for pick and carry cranes, wherein the third boom extension is so assembled with the second boom extension that it is not manually mounted on to the second boom extension and it is characterized in its automatic extension and retraction in the complete boom assembly with the help of unique anchoring and routing of the rope-arrangement, and wherein its extension/retraction is well synchronized with the automatic rope compensation associated therein.
