Abstract: Provided is a gate valve (10) that comprises: a valve box (14); a linear channel (12) that is formed inside the valve box (14); a valve disc (16) that is displaceable in an axis direction perpendicular to the channel (12) and that can obstruct the channel (12) by the external surface thereof abutting the inner wall (12a) of the channel (12); a valve rod (20) that extends from the base end (16a) of the valve disc (16); and a valve chamber (18) that accommodates the valve disc (16); wherein the external surface of the portion of the valve disc (16) protruding into the channel (12) while in an open position is configured to be a streamline curved face.
