Abstract: The invention is about a se1t-illurnmating storage box for a scooter type vehicle comprising a light source accommodated within the box; an ON-OFF spring-loaded push button switch provided for the light source; a lid for the storage box de-actuating the switch OFF to switch OFF the light source in the closed position of the lid and actuating the switch ON under spring actionto switch ON the light source in the open position of the lid~ one set of electric charging means provided for the box, said first set being connected to the electric power source of the vehicle, and anotl1er set of electric charging means provided for the light source, the said two sets being detachably attached to each other such that the light source is also detachably attached to the box.
This mveation relates to a sdf-illtmiinatmg box for a
seoeler meler vetede.

A storage box below the seat of a scooter type vehicle is well known. The storage box is used to keep -safely articles, such as, a heknet, documents, a handbag, and so on. During night time whenthere arenolightsareund, it is difficult for the user to identic the objects to be taken outofthebex.
This is overcome in the prior art by providing a small light to illuminate the interior of the box. However, such Ifeht is a permanent part of the vehicle and is used only for the puipose of illuminating the interior of the box and does not serve my other purpose.
It is therefore an object of this invention to propose a self- illuminating storage box, the interior of which will be lit up whenever the lid of the box is opened and which will also
aHbw the light source to be taken out of the box, when necessary, and used as a regular torch light. After such use the said light source can be put back into the box, the lid of the box closed. In this condition, tile said light source will be OFF, but undo: charge.
The storage box for a scooter type vehicle, according to this invention, comprises a light source accommodated within the box; an ON-OFF spring-loaded push button switch provided for the light source; a lid for the storage box for actuating the switch OFF in the closed position of tiie lid and for actuating the switch ON in the open position of the lid; one set of electric charging means provided for the box, said first set being connected to the electric power source of the vehicle, and smother set of electric charging means provided for the light source, the said two sets being detachably attached to each other such that the light source is also detachably attached to the box
This invention will now described with reference to the accompanying.drawings which illustrate, by way of example, and not by way of limitation, one of possible embodiments of this invention, wherein
Fig. 1 illustrates the storage box with its lid closed Fig. 1A illustrates the circuit diagram Fig.2 illustrates the storage box with its lid open Fig. 2A illustrates the circuit diagram
The storage box B will be seen to comprise a light source, such as, a detachable electric torch T accommodated within the said box .
An ON-OFF spring-loaded push button switch S is provided for the torch T.
The box B has a lid L for opening and closing the box. The lid L, when opened, actuates the switch S to its ON position (under spring action) to switch ON the torch; and the lid L, when closed, de-actuates the switch S to its OFF position, to switch OFF the torch.
The torch is provided with a socket C which is connected to the electric power source P of the vehicle such as the battery or regulated supply of the magneto. In other words the torch T normally gets charged from the vehicle battery. When not in use the torch T can be detached from the box B and charged through a known means of domestic power supply and used to illuminate.
Since the torch T is detachable from the box B the torch T can be used to illuminate other parts of the vehicle in the event of any maintenance. In such cases the switch S will be
operated manually by the user When the torch T is attached to the box B the operation of the torch T is automatic depending upon the opening and closing of the lid.
The torch T will usually be powered by d.c. cells which will be replaced from time to time, as may be required.
It will be appreciated form the foregoing description that various other embodiments of this invention are possible without departing from the scope and ambit thereof.
