Abstract: ABSTRACT “Germ Free (Anti-microbial) colour coated silica quartz granules and preparation method thereof” The present invention contemplates to provide Germ Free (anti-microbial) colour coated silica quartz granules and preparation method thereof wherein the granules are prepared from natural silica quartz granules mixed with inorganic colour pigments, organic epoxy binder, and silver ions encapsulated inside a mixture to result in the antimicrobial material to prevent the multiplication of the microbes on the surface of the granules, hence providing the 99% germ free and more hygienic granules.
DESC:FIELD OF INVENTION
The present invention relates to Germ Free (anti-microbial) colour coated quartz silica granules and preparation method thereof, particularly to the field of the colour coated silica quartz sand being used in the manufacturing of the Industrial and commercial flooring, Countertops, Sanitary wares, Kitchen Sinks, Table top, Tiles, Engineering Stone, and other such products that can be manufactured by silica quartz mixed with other necessary materials.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
The silica-quartz is one of the filler materials being used in the composition of the moulded articles like kitchen sinks, washbasins, countertops, tiles and any other moulded article that can be made by casting a composition in a mold of any desired shapes and sizes.
The silica-quartz colour sand granules are available in the state of arts that are coated with the chemical ingredients.
Nowadays people are getting more and more conscious about health and hygiene. Moreover, in view of the diseases being spread through air and touch are bringing the hygiene needs at top priority. In view of emerging needs and necessities the germ-free environment and ambience becomes the immediate requirement. In order to meet this requirement present invention proposes a germ-free (antimicrobial) colour coated silica quartz granules to be used in the manufacturing of the moulded articles being used in personal and commercial spaces. Till date no such preparation of quartz granules is available or suggested in the state of art.
The Germ Free (anti-microbial) colour coated silica quartz granules are prepared by adding silver ions with natural silica-quartz sand. Therefore, when the microbes come in contact with the surface of antimicrobial granules, the silver ions present in the antimicrobial granules puncture the cell membrane of bacteria thus stopping the rapid multiplication of bacteria on the surface of the granules. The silver ions get released, when the granules come in contact with bacteria. This helps the antimicrobial property to last longer and keep the antimicrobial treated granules germ-free for a long time. Hence, the antimicrobial granules will be 99% germ free and more hygienic.
The present invention helps to provide solution to the emerging need of germ-free experience to the user by disclosing anti-microbial colour coated silica quartz granules prepared from natural silica quartz granules mixed with inorganic colour pigments, organic epoxy binder, and silver ions encapsulated inside a mixture that can be used for the manufacturing of the moulded articles casted by using anti-microbial colour coated silica quartz granules as one of materials to prepare the casting material. Such granules provide germ-free and hygienic experience to the user and lessens the chances of spreading of diseases being spread through touch.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
The major object of present invention is to provide Germ Free (anti-microbial) colour coated silica quartz granules and preparation method thereof wherein the 100% natural Silica quartz is mixed with silver ions encapsulated inside a mixture.
Another object of the present invention is that, inorganic colour pigments and an organic epoxy binder are used for the preparation of colour coated silica quartz granules.
Further object of the present invention is to provide the Germ Free (antimicrobial) colour coated silica quartz granules which will be 99% germ free and more hygienic.
Further object of the present invention is that the silver ions from the silica quartz mixture will only get released when come in contact with the bacteria hence keeps the antimicrobial treated granules germ-free for a long time.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention contemplates to provide Germ Free (anti-microbial) colour coated silica quartz granules and preparation method thereof wherein the germ free (anti-microbial) colour coated silica quartz granules are prepared by adding silver ions with natural silica-quartz sand. Therefore, when the microbes come in contact with the surface of antimicrobial granules, the silver ions present in the antimicrobial granules puncture the cell membrane of bacteria thus stopping the rapid multiplication of bacteria on the surface of the granules. The silver ions only get released, when the granules come in contact with bacteria. This helps the antimicrobial property to last longer and keep the antimicrobial treated granules germ-free for a long time. Therefore, the antimicrobial granules will be 99% germ free and more hygienic hence it provides following advantages:
1. To provide anti-microbial colour coated silica quartz granules to be used in the manufacturing of the moulded articles to be used in the personal and commercial spaces.
2. To provide germ-free and hygienic experience to the user and lessen the chances of spreading of diseases being spread through touch.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to provide Germ Free (anti-microbial) colour coated silica quartz granules, which can be used as one of the materials to prepare the casting material for the manufacturing of the moulded articles like kitchen sinks, washbasins, countertops, tiles etc. The silver ions present in the silica quartz granules imparts anti-microbial property to the granules thus when the microbes come in contact with the surface of such granules, the silver ions present in the antimicrobial granules puncture the cell membrane of bacteria thus stopping the rapid multiplication of bacteria on the surface of the granules. Therefore, the granules prepared from the antimicrobial material will be 99% germ free and more hygienic.
According to the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the silver ions only get released when the granules come in contact with bacteria. This helps the antimicrobial property to last longer and keep the antimicrobial treated granules germ-free for a long time.
The anti-microbial colour coated silica quartz granules according to present invention is prepared from natural silica quartz granules mixed with inorganic colour pigments, organic epoxy binder, and silver ions encapsulated inside a mixture.
In the preferred aspect of the present invention, some of the experimental examples are specified for the preparation of optimized combination for the Germ Free (anti-microbial) colour coated silica quartz granules, prepared from 100% natural Silica quartz, inorganic color pigments 0.5% to 4.5%, organic epoxy binder 0.36% to 5.40%, and Silver Ions encapsulated inside a mixture 0.05% to 1.5%.
The results of the five experimental trials are summarized as follows: trials 1 and 2 failed to meet the expected criteria and were disregarded and discarded; trials 3, 4 and 5 achieved satisfactory outcomes and were verified by Biotech test services lab. The antimicrobial activity of the samples was assessed using two test microorganisms: 1. Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 (1.60 x 105 CFU/ml) and 2. Escherichia Coli ATCC 25922 (1.70 x 105 CFU/ml). The method of ASTM: E 2149-2020 was followed to evaluate the samples.
