Field of Invention:
The present invention relates to the glove box used on automotive vehicles. More particularly the present invention relates to a glove box with tool retaining shelf to hold the tools systematically without disturbing it by virtue of an impact and/or vibrations during driving.
Background & Prior art:
In general a glove box for use in automotive vehicles is equipped to one side of an instrument panel, and has a storage space formed therein for storing small articles and the like. Variety of glove boxes is available in public domain which has met with varying degrees of success.
Japanese patent No. JP 2002014942 discloses a storage article holder for a glove box. It has a panlike support member installed in a lower part of the box lid, and a broad storage article B of a road map or the like is made keepable in a state of being leaned. A spring is installed between screws installed right and left on the backside of the box lid, and retention of the storage article B leaned against the support member is performed with certainty.
It only prevents road map / small diary or the like articles of being leaned when the glove box lid is opened.
Korean patent application No. KR 20040051398 describes a pen holder of a glove box
provided to receive writing tools in a determined place by preparing many pen holders
on the inner face of the door of a glove box and to prevent the generation of noise by
holding the writing tools on the inner face of the door. A glove box has a receiving
groove and gripping recess to hold pen.
The scope of this concept is limited to the safely holding of pen or similar writing
instrument.
American patent No. US 7226103 disclose a glove box for preventing received articles from being ejected from the glove box. The glove box comprises a receiving part opened or closed in front side of the glove box about a hinge part provided at a lower portion of the glove box and having an inner receiving space formed in the receiving part to receive articles, a front cover formed on a front side of the receipt part and a secondary cover to cover one side of an upper portion of the glove box in order to prevent the receiving articles from being ejected from the receiving part." r
Korean patent application No. KR 20040073208 talks about glove box with ticket holder for holding a ticket or a business card at the inner face of a door. In a glove box, a ticket placed groove is formed at the inner face of a door. A ticket holder unit is formed at the bottom of the ticket placed groove, and holds a ticket or a business card. A gripping groove is formed at the boundary face of the ticket placed groove, and enables a user to easily grip the ticket or the business card placed on the ticket placed groove. This glove box is limited to safe and easy handling of ticket and business card only.
German patent No. DE 102006006852 describes a glove box with a spacer divider that variably divides the box. The divider includes two parts that are connected with each other by a joint that is designed as a retractable hinge-joint. An axis of the joint lies in a level of the space divider and runs parallel to a side edge of the space divider. The space divider is inserted in guide rails that are integrated in the box. The guide rails are arranged such that different positions of the space divider are provided in the box. It addresses effective space utilization within the glove box by segregating it for articles to be stored.
Japanese patent application No. JP 2005246994 provides a glove box with a coin holder capable of storing and taking out coins very easily with a simple structure. The coin holder has a storage part formed of walls of a casing and the storage box and having a space slightly larger than the thickness of a coin C. A rib to suppress rattling of the coin C is protruded in the storage box, and a recessed part and a bored part to allow a finger to be put therein to take out the coin P is formed. The scope of this glove box is limited to safe keeping and easy handling of coins or similar articles only.
Objectives of the present invention:
The main object of the present invention is to manage and utilize the space effectively within the glove box for retaining / holding the tools.
Another object of the invention is to provide a glove box with tool holding shelf which prevents the tools from ejecting out in case high ride vibrations, impact, collision and like situations.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide safety and easiness of handling the tools retained in glove box.
Another object of the present invention is to prevent noise generated by loosely placed tools in glove box by virtue of an impact and/or ride vibrations while driving.
Still another object of the present invention is to overcome the drawbacks of prior art glove boxes and provide a novel glove box with tool retaining means.
Description of Figures:
The objects and features of the present invention will be more clearly understood from the following description of the invention taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which,
Figure 1 shows the perspective view of a glove box in accordance with the present invention.
Figure 2 shows the top view of the glove box in accordance with the present invention.
Description of the Present Invention:
Referring to Figure 1, a glove box (1) comprises of a lid panel (2), rear panel (3), side panels (4) and tool retaining means such as spanner holders (7 & 8), screw driver holder (9), plier holders (10 & 11), holding means for wheel spanner with tommy bar (14) and a hook (12). Lid panel (2), rear panel (3) and side panels (4) combined form the storage space (13) for storing the articles. The glove box (1) is generally fitted in the instrument panel of a vehicle to one side. The glove box (1) has hinge slot (6) to mount it inside the instrument panel of a vehicle. The glove box rotates on the hinge while putting it in open and/or close position. The glove box has a dampener slot (5) in which a movement dampener is fitted.
The glove box has spanner holding means (7 & 8) in the form of cavity formed by moulding of the shape of a desired spanner. The spanner holding cavity (7) is made for double open end spanner whereas the spanner holding cavity (8) is made for round end spanner. Screw driver holder (9) is made in the in the form of cavity of the shape and size of a screw driver. The plier holding means (10 & 11) are made in the form of cavity made in the rear panel (3) by moulding to securely retain the tools. A
hook (12) is provided on the rear panel (3) of glove box (1) to hang the keys and like things. The tool holding means (7, 8, 9, 10, 11 & 12) are moulded in rear panel (3) by the process of moulding. A hook (12) is used to hang the keys, metal rings and to keep the like things systematically.
In another embodiment, the tool holding means (7 to 12) can be carved or positioned on any of the panels namely lid panel (2) or side panel (4) or on all the panels. The tool holding means/cavities are provided with at least two snap fit type, projections on the edges of the cavity so as to retain the tool securely in the panel.
The primary tools such as spanner, screw driver, plier, etc. which are not required daily / frequently, the present invention provide a permanent solution for its safe retaining and storage. In addition, it prevents the tools from falling out while opening the glove box as generally observed in traditional glove boxes. Thus, glove box with tool holding means in accordance with the present invention can be used for safe holding and retaining of primary tools required for a vehicle.
It is to be understood that the present invention is not limited in its application to the details of the construction and to the arrangements of the components as mentioned in the above description or illustrated in the drawings. The invention is capable of other embodiments and of being practiced and carried out in various ways. Also, the terminologies used herein are for the purpose of description and should not be regarded as limiting.
Advantages of the present invention:
• The tools will not eject out of the glove box while opening it.
• Low cost and easy to handle
• Space inside the glove box is managed and utilized effectively.
• Gives systematic appearance inside the glove box.
• The invention facilitates the easy search for the desired primary tool.
