Abstract: This grain-oriented electromagnetic steel sheet is provided with a base steel sheet, a glass coating film formed on the base steel sheet, and a tension-imparted insulating coating film formed on the glass coating film, in which the base steel sheet has a plurality of linear strains that extend continuously or intermittently in a direction that intersects the rolling direction, the distance between adjacent two of the plurality of linear strains is 10 mm or less when observed in the rolling direction, there is a closure domain in a region where the strains are present, the thickness-direction length d of the closure domain as measured from the surface of the base steel sheet is 30 to 60 µm, the length w as measured in the rolling direction is 200 µm or less, and a ratio m/d, which is a ratio of the depth m from the surface of the base steel sheet at which the rolling-direction compression strain in the closure domain becomes maximum, to the aforementioned length d falls within the range of 0.30 to 0.90 exclusive.
