Graphene Reinforced Reaction Bonded Silicon Carbide

Abstract: The present invention provides a graphene reinforced reaction bonded Silicon carbide. The graphene is coated with SiC-coating which is achieved in-situ by pyrolysis of pre-ceramic polymeric layer on graphene. There is also provided a process for preparing the composite of reaction bonded silicon carbide ceramics with graphene reinforced in the matrix. The present disclosure also provides a means to process the composite materials under process condition that ensures the uniform formation of ceramic material coating on graphene as well dispersion of the coated graphene dispersion in the matrix of the reaction bonded silicon carbide ceramics.
