Gravure Printing System

Abstract: A system (100) for printing on both sides of a substrate (118) utilizing gravure printing process is disclosed. The system (100) comprising plurality of printing units (102, 104, 106) arranged in series. The substrate (118) supplied as a web of substrate sourced through a reel (124). A substrate flipping unit (128) is provided between any two adjacent printing units of the plurality of units. The substrate flipping unit (128) flips a first planar side of the substrate (118) with a second planar side of the substrate (118), such that printing units before the substrate flipping unit (128) are printing on the first planar side of the substrate and printing units after the substrate flipping unit (118) are printing on the second planar side of the substrate (118). The substrate flipping unit (128) is mounted on a guided rail (130) provided over the plurality of the printing units (102, 104, 106).

Specification

Claims:1. A system (100) for printing on both side of a substrate (118) using gravure printing process, the system (100) comprising:
plurality of printing units (102, 104, 106), each of the plurality of printing units corresponds to a single color and prints an impression on one planar side of the substrate (118);
a reel (124) having a length of the substrate (118), the substrate (118) from the reel (124) is supplied to the plurality of printing units (102, 104, 106);
a substrate flipping unit (128), provided between any two adjacent printing units of the plurality of printing units, to flip the planar side of the substrate (118) moving between the any two adjacent printing units of the plurality of printing units; and
a guided rail (130), provided over the plurality of printing units (102, 104, 106), to movably mount the substrate flipping unit (128), wherein the substrate flipping unit (128) is movable along the guided rail (130) to configure the substrate flipping unit (128) between the any two adjacent printing units of the plurality of printing units.
2. The system as claimed in claim 1, wherein the substrate flipping unit (128) comprises an assembly of a plurality of turner bars (202, 204, 206, 208).
3. The system as claimed in claim 2, wherein the plurality of turner bars (202, 204, 206, 208) are configured as cross turner bars.
4. The system as claimed in claim 1, comprising:
a station (122) to mount the reel (124); and
an unwinder (120) to unwind the substrate (118) form the reel

(124) and supply the substrate (118) to a first printing unit (102) of the plurality of printing units.
