Abstract: Provided herein is a Green Tea Extract composition, process for preparing the composition and formulation of Green Tea Extract as an Effervescent tablet. The composition comprising: (i) Green Tea leaves extract, (ii) Ginger, (iii) Tulsi extract, (iv) Cinnamon, (v) Nutmeg, (vi) Hing (Ferula asafoetida), (vii) Clove, (viii) Cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum), and (ix) Black Pepper. The Green Tea Extract is formulated into an effervescent tablet. the effervescent Green Tea extract tablet is used for weight loss, and to reduce inflammatory skin conditions.

Description:FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001] All embodiments of the present invention relate to green tea extract composition, process for preparing composition and effervescent tablet formulations thereof.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
[0002] Tea is one of the most commonly consumed beverages throughout the world due to its potential health-promoting properties Based on the processing techniques, tea leaves are classified into green tea, black tea, oolong tea and white tea. Black teas usually undergo full oxidation leading to the development of the characteristic dark brown and black colours of the leaves. Oolong tea is partially oxidized tea before drying to preserve the natural flavors. White tea is produced by picking the tea leaves and buds just before they open fully, when the buds are still covered in fine, white hairs. That, of course, is why it is called “white” tea. The leaves and buds are then steamed thoroughly to inactivate the enzymes responsible for tea discoloration, and the product is subsequently dried either in the dryer or in the sun. Black tea, which is the most commonly consumed tea in the world is the one processed in the largest amount among the four types. Green tea is a non-oxidized tea produced by drying and steaming the fresh leaves to inactivate the enzyme polyphenol oxidase, which oxidize tea polyphenols and cause the formation of the brown or black color.
[0003] There still exists a need in the art for an effective green tea extract which is easy to use, has high poly phenol content and is suitable for curing multiple medical conditions.
[0004] Present inventors attempt to prepare a green tea extract effervescent tablet.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0005] In one important aspect, the present application provides a Green Tea extract composition comprising: (i) Green Tea leaves extract, (ii) Ginger, (iii) Tulsi Extract (iv) Cinnamon, (v) Nutmeg, (vi) Hing (Ferula asafoetida), (vii) Clove, (viii) Elettaria cardamomum, and (ix) Black Pepper; wherein the ingredients (i) to (ix) have polyphenol concentration in the range of 20 -30 wt. % of total extract.

[0006] In another important aspect, the present application provides a Green Tea extract, wherein the total polyphenol concentration is present in the range of 21.02 +/- 1.54 to 14.32 +/- 0.45% of gallic acid equivalents (GAE).

[0007] In another important aspect, the present application provides a Green Tea extract formulated into an effervescent tablet.
[0008] In yet another important aspect, the present application provides an Effervescent Green Tea extract tablet used for weight loss, and to reduce inflammatory skin conditions.

It will be clear from this description of the invention that the invention is not limited to these illustrated embodiments but that the invention also includes a variety of modifications and embodiments thereto. Therefore, the present description should be seen as illustrative and not limiting. While the invention is susceptible to various modifications and alternative constructions, it should be understood, that there is no intention to limit the invention to the specific form disclosed, but, on the contrary, the invention is to cover all modifications, alternative constructions, and equivalents falling within the spirit and scope of the invention as defined in the claims.

[0014] In one embodiment, the present application provides green tea available in the form of an effervescent tablet. People have hailed the health benefits of green tea for centuries. Studies suggest that consuming green tea may positively affect skin health, help with weight loss, and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.
[0015] In one important embodiment, the present application provides a Green Tea extract with the ingredients - Ginger: Prevents Cancer, Boost Immunity, Good for Diabetes, Flawless Skin; Tulsi Extract: Antioxidant, Improves digestion, Strengthens Immune System, Cinnamon: Promotes Weight Loss, Loaded with Antioxidants, Lower inflammation & improve Heart Health, Nutmeg: Boost Skin Health, Boost Immunity & Improve Blood Circulation, Hing: Anti-Bacterial, Rich in fibre aida in digestion & Promotes Digestive Health, Clove: Better Digestion, Elettaria cardamomum: Anti Inflammatory & Improve digestion, and Black Pepper: Lower Cholesterol Level, Fight against Cancer & Anti-inflammatory.
[0016] In another embodiment, the present application provides Green Tea extract high in anti-oxidant content. Polyphenol concentration present in the ingredients is described below. Ginger are the major polyphenols such as 6-gingerol, 8-gingerol, and 10-gingerol. Several polyphenols have been isolated from cinnamon. These polyphenols include rutin (90.0672%), catechin (1.9%), quercetin (0.172%), kaempferol (0.016%), and isorhamnetin (0.103%) Polyphenols also isolated from Nutmeg. Hing also contain high concentration of phenolic compounds such as tannins and flavonoids, Elettaria cardamomum contains Polyphenols such as flavonoids etc., Black pepper also has a diverse range of bioactive compounds, especially for Polyphenolic compounds.
[0017] In another embodiment, the present application provides Green Tea Effervescent Tablet have rich of polyphenols. Green tea Extract in effervescent tablet also contains condensed and hydrolysable tannins.
[0018] After numerous experimentations, present inventors found from calculated Polyphenol concentration that: Inventive Green Tea showed a higher polyphenol content than other commercial tea samples. The total polyphenol concentration in green tea was found to vary from 21.02 +/- 1.54 to 14.32 +/- 0.45% of gallic acid equivalents (GAE). In comparison, other tea, the polyphenol content ranged from 17.62 +/- 0.42 to 8.42 +/- 0.55% of GAE (P < 0.05). Commercial effervescent green tea tablet contains Green Tea Extract, Calories, Protein, carbohydrate, added sugar & fat whereas in inventive effervescent green tea tablet contains Green Tea extract, ginger, tulsi extract, nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, cardamom, Elettaria cardamomum, Hing (Ferula asafoetida) & black pepper.
[0019] In commercial effervescent tablet, the content of polyphenol less in amount as compared with inventive green tea effervescent tablet due to ingredients added in the composition. These all ingredients are flavonoid and tannins that’s why they have high amount of Polyphenols & EGCG also a component of Polyphenols.
[0020] In another embodiment, the effervescent green tea extract tablet is used for treating the following conditions:
[0021] FOR WEIGHT LOSS: Others consume Coffee or tea to lose weight as caffeine consumption can boost your metabolism. But Green tea has one of the highest concentrations of antioxidants of any tea. It is naturally low in calories and contains less caffeine than tea and coffee.
[0022] FOR INFLAMMATORY SKIN CONDITIONS: Others use corticosteroid creams to reduce inflammation but it also depends upon the type of skin. Sometimes these creams do not suit the skin & will cause allergy or other reactions but Green Tea has no such side effects on the skin.

[0024] EXAMPLE 1: GREEN TEA EXTRACT COMPOSITION
[0025] Green tea extract was prepared using the following ingredients:
(i) Green Tea leaves,
(ii) Ginger,
(iii) tulsi extract,
(iv) cinnamon,
(v) nutmeg,
(vi) hing (Ferula asafoetida),
(vii) clove,
(viii) cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum) and
(ix) black pepper.
[0026] EXAMPLE 2: GREEN TEA EXTRACTION METHOD
[0027] Green tea is an infusion of the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant, a member of the Theaceae family. As a popular drink favoured by Asians, in particular Chinese, green tea has received much global attention for its promotion of human health. A number of studies have shown that green tea possesses a wide range of biological activities, including antioxidant activity, anti-inflammatory activity, antimutagenic as well as anticarcinogenic activities, and neuroprotective effects. The major functional constituents of green tea, catechins, account for 8–15% of the dry leaf weight
[0028] Processing of Green Tea
[0029] Instead of a brewing process, green tea solutions were prepared using tap water and distilled water at 25°C. The former was taken from the suburban area of the City of Greater Taichung, Taiwan. Distilled water (<1?µS/cm) was purified using a Millipore Alpha-Q Luton ultrapure water system such that both the organic and inorganic impurities were removed. Two water samples were divided into 25?mL aliquots in 50?mL polypropylene centrifuge tubes. Aqueous extracts were prepared by soaking a 31.25?mg infusion of ground up and homogenized dry green tea leaves in 25?mL water at 25°C for 20?min. After centrifugation (1250?rpm), the green tea supernatant was collected for further examination; five replicates were made for statistical analysis.
[0030] Materials & Method
[0031] Soxhlet apparatus (500 mL) and domestic appliances of ultrasonic bath and microwave oven were used.
[0032] Defatting of tea powder:
[0033] Coarsely powdered air-dried leaves of green tea (250 g) was placed in a glass- stoppered conical flask, macerated with sufficient quantity of petroleum ether shaking frequently, and allowed to stand for over two nights. The completion of defatting process was confirmed by performing spot test on ordinary filter paper. The solvent from defatted tea powder was then removed by filtration and dried. Dried tea powder was stored in an air-tight container until subjected for further extraction process.
[0034] Maceration:
[0035] About 100 g of tea powder, defatted previously was macerated with 200 mL of ethanol in an Erlenmeyer flask for 6, 12, 24, 48 hours respectively.
[0036] Soxhlet extraction - (100 g) of defatted green tea powder was subjected to Soxhlet extraction using 200 mL of ethanol in an Erlenmeyer flask as solvent. The temperature ranging from 60-70ºC until the tea powder gets completely exhausted.

[0037] EXAMPLE 3: GREEN TEA EFFERVESCENT TABLET FORMULATION
[0038] An effervescent tablet of Green Tea extract was prepared and the formulation components are provided below:
[0039] 1 effervescent tablet so prepared was taken into 250ml of water, wait until it dissolves completely and the drink is ready to be consumed whereas other green tea extract are taken by dipping the tea bags in hot water.

1. A Green Tea extract composition comprising:
(i) Green Tea leaves extract, (ii) Ginger, (iii) Tulsi extract, (iv) Cinnamon, (v) Nutmeg, (vi) Hing (Ferula asafoetida), (vii) Clove, (viii) Cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum), and (ix) Black Pepper;
wherein the ingredients (i) to (ix) have polyphenol concentration in the range of 20 -30 wt. % of total extract.

2. The Green Tea extract composition according to claim 1, wherein the total polyphenol concentration is present in the range of 21.02 +/- 1.54 to 14.32 +/- 0.45% of gallic acid equivalents (GAE).

3. The Green Tea extract composition according to claim 1, wherein the Green Tea Extract is formulated into an effervescent tablet.

4. The Green Tea extract composition according to claim 3, wherein the effervescent Green Tea extract tablet is used for weight loss, and to reduce inflammatory skin conditions.
