Specification

FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention is Ground Data Analysis equipment used to analyse
the various parameters of Solid State Flight Recorder of ALH/LCH.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The existing ground replay equipment is carrying out the analysis in graphical
& tabular format. The present invention is for enhancing the capabilities of
existing Ground Replay Equipment in the following ways:
• Audio Analysis for recorded audio data for 4 channels 2hs duration
each
• Complete audio Download capability (whole memory) in timing
order when duration is more than 2 hrs.
• Time based Data download capability i.e. for last 30 minutes, 60
minutes & 120 minutes.
• Report generation in suitable format for comparing the parameters
of different sorties.
SUMMARY OF PRESENT INVENTION
In accordance with one aspect of present invention, the system setup uses a
handheld portable Unit (which acts as the Ground Replay Equipment), which is
interfaced through USB (Universal Serial Bus) to the SSFDR.
In accordance with second aspect of present invention, the equipment
developed is capable of retrieving the data stored in the SSFDR, processing the data
and representing the same in graphical & tabular form for analysis. The Equipment
uses a graphical user interface, which runs on Operating System with toolbar and
menu bar for selection of the various options.
In accordance with another aspect of present invention, this module is
designed to retrieve the recorded data from the SSFDR. The maximum 25 Hrs Flight
data and the 120 Minutes audio data of 4 channels each that has to be downloaded
from the bulk memory.
Annexure‐II
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention, the time taken to
download complete 25 Hrs data from SSFDR is less than or equal to 15 minutes.
However the complete audio download for 120 minutes 4 channels Audio data is
maximum 90 minutes.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention, it will enhance the
performance in the following ways:
• Accident investigation
• Post Flight Analysis of Aircraft component health & usage
• Enhances the safety and reliability of aircraft system.
• Aids in identifying the fault in the system.
• Provides a base for further modification in designing and
manufacturing methods of the Aircraft and thereby prevent
incidents/accidents.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The features and advantages of the present invention will become more
apparent and descriptive in the description when considered together with
figures/flow charts presented:
Fig. 1 is the pictorial representation of Ground Replay Equipment.
Fig. 2 is a Block Diagram of Ground Replay Equipment for SSFDR for
ALH/CLH.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Functionality of GRE:
1. Data Retrieval:
This module is designed to retrieve the recorded data from the SSFDR. The
maximum 25 Hrs Flight data and the 120 Minutes audio data of 4 channels each that
has to be downloaded from the memory.
Screen consists of options such as Download Sortie, Download Data, Analysis,
Main, Help & About GRE. The downloading of the sortie information is done using
the “Download sortie” option.
The “Download data” option is first disabled. It is enabled only after the sortie
information has been downloaded using “Download sortie” option.
Annexure‐II
The user has an option to select one sortie number for downloading the data
from SSFDR or complete data download option at a time. GRE then send the sortie
number to the SSFDR for which data is retrieved. The latest 25 sorties is available in
the NVRAM and can be downloaded individually however an option is provided
wherein it is possible to download complete memory data of 25 Hours. The time
taken to download complete 25 Hours data from SSFDR is less than or equal to 15
minutes. However the complete audio download for 120 minutes 4 channels Audio
data is maximum 90 minutes. The retrieved Flight data is stored in a data file and
audio data is stored in compressed form and will be decompressed during post
download processing for current /future analysis. Portability option is provided on the
menu bar. This option enables user to copy the files downloaded on any other
system running GRE to the current system..
2. Data Processing
The GRE enables the conversion of raw data retrieved from the SSFDR to the
corresponding engineering values.
3. Data Analysis
Data analysis is designed to represent the retrieved data in graphical form and in
tabular form. Data from two different sorties can be shown in two different windows
and compared in single screen at the same time for full sortie length by viewing two
windows at the same time in tiled window format.
4. Audio Analysis
This module enables Audio data retrieval based on sortie count or retrieval of the
complete recorded data. The retrieved data is decompressed and converted into
voice for replaying.
5. Graphical Analysis
This module shows a graphical representation of the selected parameters. The user
is provided an option for selecting the parameters to be viewed, before showing the
graph. In the graphical representation of discrete parameters, there will be only two
states. Initially, the graph will represent entire data set. User is allowed to select
zoom in / zoom out / time period for analysis of graph in detail.
• Parameter selection
The user has the option to select the parameters that is displayed in graphical form.
The user is prompted to select the parameters to be displayed before displaying the
graph.
• Time period selection
The user can optionally specify the period of the graph to be displayed.
• Print Graph
There is an option for printing the graph being analyzed by the User. There is option
to view the preview of the graph to be printed.
• Save Graph
Save option is used to store the viewed graph in a file.
Annexure‐II
6. Tabular Analysis
This module represents a tabular picture of all the parameters. A limited number of
parameter is displayed in a window at a time and the remaining data is viewed by
scrolling the window.
• Parameter selection
The user has the option to select or deselect the parameters with some or all sample
of a parameter that will be displayed in tabular form.
• Time period selection
The user may optionally specify the period of data to be displayed in tabular form.
For this purpose, an option is provided for time period selection.
• Report Generation
There is an option of report generation of downloaded data in suitable format during
tabular analysis.
• Engineering Conversion
The user is given an option to view the engineering values for the raw data that is
being displayed. This option is provided on the menu bar in the tabular analysis
screen.
