Guide Arrangement for Drive Chain of Engine Lubrication Oil Pump
Field of invention:
The present invention relates to a lubricating oil pump drive for a single cylinder internal combustion engine and more particularly to an improved arrangement for the guiding the drive chain of the lubricating oil pump for an internal combustion engine.
Background of the invention:
Internal combustion engine is provided with'an oil pump for sucking oil in an oil pan and sending it under pressure to lubricate and cool the parts of engine. Oil is circulated by the oil pump to lubricate and cool the parts of engine. The oil is stored in the oil pan under the internal combustion engine, supplied to the parts of engine and returned to the oil pan after achieving the lubrication and cooling of the parts of internal combustion engine.
In the known internal combustion engines, the lubrication oil pump drive arrangements are made to ensure the oil supply in the internal-combustion engine by nieans of gear pumps or internally-geared rotor pumps. Such known oii pump drives are expensive because they require corresponding transmission members, require additional installation space. Furthermore, internally-geared rotor-pump arrangements are known in which the inner rotor is pressed onto the crankshaft and is mounted in the oil-pump housing together with the outer rotor, which leads to a complicated drive mechanism.
The known joil pump drive by gear increases the size of the engine, and the overall arrarigement require additional installation space, and hence, the size and cost of the loll pump drive arrangement is increased which leads to unwanted increase in engine size and cost.
In order to eliminate the above-described disadvantages, an oil pump drive is provided for an internal combustion engine having a continuous driving chain for connecting an oil pump drive chain wheel to an engine clutch shaft. The oil pump is driven by the rotation force from the engine clutch shaft.
However the application of the aforesaid related art becomes difficult if the chain line and chain guides are not provided at a suitable construction and in a position suitable for smooth running of the engine lubricating oil pump. Moreover if it is tried to secure and guide the chain line in a conventional mechanism, it is inevitable that the engine is made larger in size and results in increase in engine size and cost.
Hence it is an object of the present invention to provide an oil pump drive for an internal combustion engine with an improved guide for the continuous chain placed in oil pump drive arrangement.
Object of the invention:
The main object of the present invention is to provide an improved guide arrangement for drive chain of the oil pump for an internal combustion engine.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an improved guide arrangement for drive chain of the oil pump, which effectively reduces the noise generated and increases smoothness during the pumping process.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a simple and inexpensive guide arrangement for drive chain of the oil pump for an internal combustion engine.
Summary of Invention:
The present invention was devised so as to solve the problem inherent in the related art and an object thereof is to provide a guide structure for a continuous chain for oil pump which is constructed so as not only to increase the smooth running of oil pump, also to obviate the necessity of enlargement of the engine.
The present invention relates to an improved single cylinder engine having a crankshaft and clutch shaft assembly. A driven chain wheel is press fitted on to the oil pump rotor shaft; the driven chain wheel is driven by a drive chain wheel through a continuous drive chain. The drive chain wheel is fitted on to the clutch housing of the internal combustion engine. The rotor shaft of the oil pump is driven directly by the continuous chain drive arrangement through the driven chain wheel fitted on the oil pump rotor shaft and the drive chain wheel fitted on the clutch housing.
The object of the present invention can be attained by providing a chain guide structure in a clutch cover interior of the internal combustion engine, according to the present invention; The chain guide includes a chain guide ways integrally formed with clutch cover of the engine and a chain guide shoes made of polymer suitably provided in the chain guide ways for guiding the continuous chain. The continuous chain covers the driven chain wheel fitted on the oil pump rotor shaft and the drive chain wheel fitted on the clutch housing. Two guide way means are respectively provided on the two sides of the clutch cover interior for guiding and applying a predetermined tension to the continuous chain, and thereby preventing the run-out of the chain.
The chain guide structure is defined by coupling the end face of the guide ways and the rib inner surface of the clutch cover. The chain guide shoes are suitably provided with the chain guide ways, so that the chain is effectively guided through the guide shoes. According to this construction, the chain guide ways cooperates with the guide shoes so as to form an improved guide way for the drive chain of the lubricating oil pump in the internal combustion engine. This improved construction of the guide ways for the drive chain of the lubricating oil pump allows for providing a simple and inexpensive drive guide for the continuous chain connecting the oil-pump rotor shaft and the engine clutch housing.
The objective of the present invention to provide an improved guide arrangement for drive chain of the oil pump, which effectively reduces the noise generated and increases smoothness during the pumping process. Other and further objects and advantages of the present invention will appear hereinafter.

Figure. 1 is the view showing drive and driven sprocket with chain in the crankcase.
Detailed Description of the Drawings:
The present invention eliminates the above-described disadvantages, and provides a guide structure for a continuous chain for oil pump which driven by the rotation force from the engine clutch shaft. The present invention relates to an internal combustion engine which mounts crankcase and a Crankshaft assembly housed in the said crankcase of the internal combustion engine. A clutch shaft assembly is connected to crankshaft assembly by means of a gear for meeting the drive and transmission requirements. A drive shaft is mounted on the adjacent axis of the crankcase and is respectively connected to clutch shaft.
The gear final drive and differential assembly is mounted on another axis of crankcase and is connected to drive shaft through another set of gears. The single cylinder engine includes a crankshaft and clutch shaft assembly. Referring
to Figure 1 a driven chain wineel (101) is press fitted on to the oil pump rotor shaft (104); the said driven chain wheel (101) is driven by a drive chain wheel (102) through a continuous drive chain. The said drive chain wheel (102) is fitted on to the clutch housing (103) of the internal combustion engine. The continuous
chain is set around the oil pump drive chain wheel and the clutch shaft drive chain wheel. The rotor shaft (104) of the oil pump is driven directly by the continuous chain drive arrangement through the driven chain wheel (101) fitted on the oil pump rotor shaft (104) and the drive chain wheel (102) fitted on the clutch housing (103).
The chain wheels can transmit torque from the clutch shaft in the clutch housing (103) to the oil pump rotor shaft (104) through the ontinuous chain connecting the driven chain wheel (101) in oil pump and the drive chain wheel (102) on the
clutch housing (103). The oil pump sucks the oil from the oil pan through a suction pipe and sends the oil to the parts of the internal combustion engine under pressure by the pumping action.
The chain guide structure Is defined by coupling the end face of the guide ways (106) and the rib inner surface of the clutch cover (107). The chain guide shoes (108) are suitably provided with the chain guide ways (106), so that the chain is effectively guided through the guide shoes (108). According to this construction, the chain guide ways (106) cooperates with the guide shoes (108) so as to form an improved guide way for the drive chain of the lubricating oil pump in the internal combustion engine. This improved construction of the guide ways for the drive chain of the lubricating oil pump allows for providing a simple and inexpensive drive guide for the continuous chain connecting the oil-pump rotor shaft and the engine clutch shaft.
The present invention of improved guide arrangement with guide shoe effectively reduces the noise generated and increases the smoothness in operation during the pumping process. The lubrication oil pump drive mechanism of the present invention allows for providing a simple and inexpensive drive guide for the continuous chain connecting the oil-pump rotor shaft and the engine clutch shaft.
The continuous chain drive arrangement through the driven chain wheel (101) fitted on the oil pump rotor shaft (104) and the drive chain wheel (102) fitted on the engine clutch housing (103) allows for providing a compact and positive drive arrangement, and hence reducing the size of the engine.
