Abstract: The present invention provides a hand lever assembly for a two wheeler which comprises a front wheel hand brake lever, actuating the front wheel brake; a rear wheel hand brake lever, actuating both rear and front wheel brake; a interlink lever provided on the rear wheel hand brake lever holder; a spring attached between the interlink lever and the rear wheel hand brake lever and where the depression of rear hand brake lever actuates rear brake first and then front brake.
Hand Lever Assembly
Field of the Invention:
This invention relates to "Hand Lever Assembly". In particular this invention relates to hand lever assembly which allows interlocking of front and rear brake for two-wheeled vehicle.
Background of the Invention:
Generally a brake force is transmitted from a hand lever to an equalizer lever housed within a casing and placed far from the hand lever. The brake force is transmitted through the hand lever to the equalizer lever. This equalizer lever is housed within a casing and is apart from the hand lever and accordingly a cable between the hand lever and the equalizer lever is used to transmit the brake force from the hand lever to the equalizer lever, thereby the hand lever distributing brake force must be adjusted for initial adjustment of brake force to be transmitted to equalizer lever, which further affects the functioning of the equalizer lever.
To improve the riding comfortability, it is desirable to suitably control the amount of a nose dive. In this regard, the typical braking device has only a mechanism of distributing a braking force to front and rear wheel brakes upon operation of equalizer lever, and is not provided with a mechanism for controlling the nose dive amount.
Motorcycles having an equalizer lever to distribute the brake force behaves differently than a conventional motorcycle which does not have a equalizer lever.
Therefore the challenge is to bring the brake feel as that of conventional motorcycle while using an equalizer lever.
In view of the foregoing problems, the present invention has been made.
Summary of the Invention:
Further scope of applicability of the present invention will become apparent from the detailed description given hereinafter. However, it should be understood that the detailed description and specific examples, while indicating preferred embodiments of the invention, are given by way of illustration only, since various changes and modifications within the spirit and scope of the invention will become apparent to those skilled in the art from this detailed description.
An object of the present invention is to provide an interlink brake system integrated with the hand lever assembly.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a integrated interlink brake system with hand lever assembly which eliminates the initial adjustment between hand lever and equalizer lever which is generally placed apart from hand lever.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a brake feel like a conventional motorcycle which does not have a interlink brake system.
Another object of the present invention is providing a simple structure thereby reducing the number of parts counts.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a cost effective arrangement at the hand lever assembly for interlink brake system.
Brief Description of the Invention:The present invention will become more fully understood from the detailed description given herein below and the accompanying drawings which are given by way of illustration only, and thus are not limitative of the present invention, and wherein
FIGURE. 1 is a conventional scooter type motorcycle.
FIGURE. 2 shows hand lever assembly according to one of the embodiment of the present invention.
Detailed description of the Invention:
One or more embodiments of the invention provide an interlink brake system which can be easily integrated with the existing hand lever assembly.
The present invention relates to hand lever assembly for a two wheeled vehicle. Referring to Figure 1, a front wheel, 2 denotes a front fork, 3 denotes a front fender, 4 denotes a front cover, 5 denotes a leg shield made of resin or metal, 6 denotes a handle bar cover, 7 denotes a headlight, 8 denotes a handle bar assembly ,17 denotes a rear fender and 18 denotes tail lamp.
The center of the body forms a low floor board 9 for functioning as a part for putting feet and a under cowl 10 which is located below the rider's seat and covers at least a part of the engine, The under cowl is made up of metal or resin. The under cowl is hinged to the seat 11. A utility box 12 opens from the rear end to hinged portion. The utility box 12 is provided under the seat extending longitudinally of a vehicle body and the inside of the utility box has a large capacity so that a large article can be housed. A main frame 14 extended along the center of the body before and behind and made of a metallic pipe and is provided under the floor board 9. A swing type power unit 13 is coupled to the rear end of the main frame 14.
A rear wheel 15 is supported on one side of the rear end of the swing type power unit 13. The swing type power unit 13 is suspended in the rear of a body frame.
The side covers 16 both on left and right sides, covers the utility box 12 and other parts of the vehicle, thereby providing a good appearance to the vehicle.
According to one aspect of the present invention and referring to Figure 2, the hand lever 201 which actuates the rear brake is provided with a interlink lever 202. The said interlink lever 202 is supported on a holder 203 fixed to one end portion of a steering handlebar 204 and allowing both the front wheel brake and rear wheel brake to exhibit braking forces in interlocking with each other.
With the configuration of the invention, the handle bar assembly 8 is provided with a holder 203 and a interlink lever 202 supported on to the holder 203 and fixed at one end. Rear brake cable 206 is connected to the hand lever, and the front brake cable 205 is connected to the said interlink lever at its free end. A spring 207 is fixed between the interlink lever 202 and the hand lever 201.
In addition to the said handle bar assembly which actuates the rear brake, the other hand lever 208 on the other side of the handle bar 204 is use to activate front brake independently.
With the depression of hand lever 201, the rear brake is actuated by the means of rear brake cable pulling 206. On further depression of the hand lever 201, the interlink lever 202 on the holder is pulled through the said spring, whereby it actuates the front brake.
The spring 207 used with the interlink lever 202 provides delay in actuating the front brake. The said interlink lever 202 one end is hinged 209 to the holder 203, and the other end is left free to which the front brake cable 205 is connected.
When the hand lever 201 is released, the said spring 207 retracts to its original position.
Since no casing is required integrally with the holder 203, it is possible to reduce the number of parts and to improve the assembley performance.
The invention being thus described, it will be obvious that the same may be varied in many ways. Such variations are not to be regarded as a departure from the spirit and scope of the invention, and all such modifications as would be obvious to one skilled in the art are intended to be included within the scope of the claims.
We Claim:
