Abstract: An apparatus of a wireless device, such as a user equipment (UE), can include processing circuitry configured to perform one or more of the handover-related techniques disclosed herein. For example, when associated with moving with a plurality of mobile devices from coverage of a first cell to a second cell, the processing circuitry can detect the second cell. One or more parameters of the second cell can be measured. The one or more parameters can be communicated to one or more other mobile devices of the plurality of mobile devices.
What is claimed is:
1. An apparatus of a mobile device, theapparatus comprising: memory; and
processing circuitry coupled to the memory, the processing circuitry to:
when associated with moving with a plurality of mobile devices from coverage of a first cell to a second cell, detect the second cell;
measure one or more parameters of the second cell; and
communicate the one or more parameters to one or more other mobile devices of the plurality of mobile devices.
2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the processing circuitry is configured
to:
detect the second cell while moving with the plurality of mobile devices from coverage of the first cell to the second cell.
3. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the processing circuitry is furtherto:
communicate the one or more parameters using a device-to-device (D2D) protocol.
4. The apparatus of claim 3, wherein the D2D protocol includes a wireless protocol operated according to an IEEE 802,11 or 802.15 family of standards.
5. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the processing circuitry is furtherto:
communicate the one or more parameters while a connection of the first mobile device is serviced by the first cell.
6. An apparatus of a mobile device, theapparatus comprising: memory; and
processing circuitry coupled tothe memory, the processing circuitry to:
transmit a handover request to a serving cell;
determine if the handover request is received at the serving cell; and
send the handover request to a second mobile device within the swarm of mobile devices for forwarding tothe serving cell, responsive to determining that no handover request is received at the serving cell.
7. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the processing circuitry is further to:
detect that an acknowledgment (ACK) was not received in response to transmitting the handover request.
8. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the processing circuitry is further to:
encode location information for transmission using device-to-device (D2D) communication to other mobile devices within the swarm of mobile devices, after decoding an acknowledgment (ACK) received in response to transmitting the handover request.
9. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the processing circuitry is further to:
decode a request received from a different mobile device within the swarm to forward a different handover request to the serving cell.
10. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the processing circuitry is further to:
detect that a signal strength measurement of a signal received from the serving cell deteriorates below a threshold, after transmitting the handover request; and
encode a notification for transmission to at least one other mobile device within the swarm of UEs mobile devices responsive tothe detecting that a handover command is expected from the serving cell.
11. An apparatus of a base station, the apparatus comprising: memory; and
processing circuitry coupled to the memory, the processing circuitry to:
identify a swarm of mobile devices wirelessly connected to the base station via a first cell, wherein the plurality of mobile devices of the swarm are adjacent to one or more other mobile devices of the swarm;
assign an identifier to each of the mobile devices of the swarm; and
assign a swarm identifier to the swarm.
12. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein each mobile device of the swarm is moving in the same direction as each other and each with an average speed within a threshold.
13. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the processing circuitry is to:
receive first information from a first mobile device of the swarm, wherein the first information includes the swarm identifier and an indication the first mobile device measured a second cell.
14. The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the processing circuitry is to:
receive second information from the first mobile device, wherein the second information includes the swarm identifier and a handover request for handover of the swarm to the second cell.
15. The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the first information includes measurement information from a second mobile device of the swarm.
16. The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the first information includes measurement information from a plurality of mobile devices of the swarm.
17. The apparatus of claim 16, wherein the plurality of mobile devices of the swarm comprises a non-center mobile device of the swarm.
18. The apparatus of claim 14, wherein the processing circuitry is to:
determine a point of handover for each mobile device of the swarm in response to the handover request.
19. The apparatus of claim 18, wherein the processing circuitry is to:
transmit handover information to the swarm, wherein the handover information includes the swarm identifier and specific handover information for multiple mobile devices of the swarm.
20. A wireless communication device, comprising:
an antenna;
a transceiver coupled to the antenna; and
a baseband processor to:
aggregate first information for reporting to a wireless network;
initiate sending of the first information to a datalink layer for transmission via the transceiver to the wireless network;
e second information for rep orting to the wireless network that is higher priority than the first information;
initiate sending of the second information to a datalink layer for transmission via the transceiver to the wireless network; and
if first information is transmitted, instruct the datalink layer to discard the first information.
21. A wireless communication device, the device comprising:
means for aggregating first information for reporting to a wireless network;
means for sending the first information to a datalink layer for transmission to the wireless network;
means for aggregating second information for reporting to the wireless network;
means for detecting the second information is higher priority than the first information;
means for sending the second information to a datalink layer for transmission to the wireless network; and
means for discarding the first information in the datalink layer, when the first information is not transmitted.
22. A wireless communication device, comprising:
processing circuitry configured to:
perform a fisten-before-talk (LBT) procedure to determine spectrum usage information within a wireless network;
aggregate the spectrum usage information for transmission to a base station of the wireless network;
decode spectrum assignment information from the base station, in response to the spectrum usage information; and
configure a transceiver sub-system of the wireless communication device to operate in one or more frequency bands based on the spectrum assignment information; and
memory coupled to the processing circuitry, the memory configured to store the spectrum assignment information.
23. The wireless communication device of claim 22, wherein the wireless
communication device is a drone within a drone swarm moving within the
wireless network,
24. The wireless communication device of claim 22, wherein to determine
the spectrumusage information, theprocessing circuitry is configured to:
scan a plurality of communication bands of a wireless communication protocol; and
detect a plurality of signals transmitted within the wireless network in one or more of the plurality of communication bands.
25. The wireless communication device of claim 24, wherein the spectrum usage information includes one or both of signal strength level and frequency band associated with the detected plurality of signals.
26. The wireless communication device of claim 24, wherein the wireless communication protocol operated according to an IEEE 802.11 family of standards.
27. The wireless communication device of claim 24, wherein the wireless communication protocol operated according to an IEEE 802.15 family of standards.
28. The wireless communication device of claim 24, wherein the wireless communication protocol operated according to a low-energy, personal area network (PAN) protocol.
29. The wireless communication device of claim 22, wherein the spectrum usage information is associated with a first geographic location of the wireless communication device.
30. The wireless communication device of claim 29, wherein the processing circuitry is configured to, upon detecting movement of the wireless communication device from the first geographic location to a second geographic location:
sense spectrum usage information at the second geographic location, for transmission to the base station;
decode second spectrum assignment information from the base station, in responsetothe spectrum usage information sensed at the second geographic location; and
configure the transceiver sub-system to operate in one or more frequency bands indicated by the second spectrum assignment information.
