Abstract: The present subject matter discloses a harmonized braking system (100) for a two-wheeled vehicle (200). The harmonized braking system (100) disclosed 5 herein includes a front wheel brake (108) and a rear wheel brake (106) capable of applying braking forces to a front wheel (214) and rear wheel of the two-wheeled vehicle (200). A synchronized braking assembly (218) including a rear brake lever (216) adapted to synchronously actuate the rear wheel brake (106) by means of a rear brake cable (112) and the front wheel brake (108) by means of a HBS cable 10 (110) is provided. A HBS assembly (400) including a front brake lever (220) adapted to actuate the front wheel brake (108) by means of a front brake cable (114), and a HBS lever (302) adapted to independently actuate the front wheel brake (108) is provided. The HBS lever (302) is functionally coupled to the rear brake lever (216) through the HBS cable (110).
DESC:HARMONIZED BRAKING SYSTEM ,CLAIMS:1. A harmonized braking system (100) for a two-wheeled vehicle (200), the harmonized braking system (100) comprising:
a front wheel brake (108) capable of applying braking forces to a front wheel (214) of the two-wheeled vehicle (200); 5
a rear wheel brake (106) capable of applying braking forces to a rear wheel of the two-wheeled vehicle (200);
a synchronized braking assembly (218) including a rear brake lever (216) adapted to synchronously actuate the rear wheel brake (106) by means of a rear brake cable (112) and the front wheel brake (108) by means of a HBS cable (110); 10 and
a HBS assembly (400) including a front brake lever (220) adapted to actuate the front wheel brake (108) by means of a front brake cable (114), and a HBS lever (302) adapted to actuate the front wheel brake (108) independently of the front brake lever (220) actuation by means of the front brake cable (114), said 15 HBS lever (302) functionally coupled to the rear brake lever (216) through the HBS cable (110).
2. The harmonized braking system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said front wheel brake (108) is a disc brake and said rear wheel brake (106) is a drum brake. 20
3. The harmonized braking system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said HBS assembly (400) further comprises: a HBS holder (304) mounted on a handlebar (404) of said two-wheeled vehicle (200), said HBS holder (304) has a first mounting location having a front brake lever mounting (422) capable of hinging 25 said front brake lever (220) by means of a front brake lever hinge (408), an adjoining second mounting location capable of independently hinging said HBS lever (302), and another end capable of supporting said HBS cable (110).
4. The harmonized braking system (100) as claimed in claim 3, wherein said HBS 30 lever (302) is functionally coupled to an inner brake cable (402) of said HBS cable (110), and wherein said HBS cable (110) is circumferentially disposed with
19
a HBS spring member (306) adjoining said HBS lever (302) for transmitting brake actuation forces from the HBS cable (110) to the HBS lever (302).
5. The harmonized braking system (100) as claimed in claim 3, wherein said HBS assembly (400) includes an adjustment member (308) circumferentially disposed 5 on the HBS cable (110) adjoining the HBS spring (306) for adjusting a braking ratio between the front wheel brake (108) and the rear wheel brake (106).
6. The harmonized braking system (100) as claimed in claim 3, wherein said extending arm is hingedly coupled to said inner brake cable of said synchronous 10 front wheel braking force transmitting member.
7. The harmonized braking system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said front brake lever (220) is actuated from an initial position (412) to an actuated position (414), and wherein said HBS assembly (400) includes an actuator pin (310) 15 moving away from the HBS lever (302), said actuator pin (310) causes corresponding actuation of a piston (416) of a master cylinder (222) of said HBS assembly (400) and pushes a plunger (418) of the master cylinder (222) away from the actuator pin (310) causing the actuation of the front brake cable (114).
20
8. The harmonized braking system (100) as claimed in claim 1 or 7, wherein actuating said rear brake lever (316) causes said HBS lever (302) to push against the actuator pin (310) causing the piston (416) of the master cylinder (222) to push the plunger (418) away from the actuator pin (310).
25
9. The harmonized braking system (100) as claimed in claim 8, wherein the actuation of the rear brake lever (316) and the corresponding actuation of the HBS lever (302) causes the actuator pin (310) to slide through a receiving slot of said front brake lever (220) against the piston (416) of the master cylinder (222).
30
10. The harmonized braking system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said HBS assembly (400) includes a RH brake lamp switch (424) mounted together
20
with the HBS holder (304) to the master cylinder (222), said RH brake lamp switch (424) is mounted at a mounting location (420) on the HBS holder (304) adjoining the front brake lever mounting location (422), and wherein the RH brake lamp switch (424) includes a brake lamp switch plunger (430) positioned at a region facing away from the HBS lever (302) and abutting against the front 5 brake lever (220).
