Specification

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[001] The present invention relates generally to health measurement/scoring systems and methods for the same. More specifically, the present invention relates to an automated health measurement (scoring) system and a method for providing an overall score or grade of the user's health and wellness.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[002] Health is the functional and metabolic efficiency of a living organism. In humans, it is the ability of users or communities to adapt and self-manage when facing physical, mental, psychological and social changes with environment. In today’s world everyone is suffering from either one or more health issues and the cost to treat them are high, making it difficult to afford them. With the advancement in technology and government reforms, people are shifting their attitude towards a healthier lifestyle and involving themselves more in physical activity.

[003] Health Score is a scoring system used by several companies in various ways to track an user’s health via Quantified Self and the help of mobile applications, social networking and elements of gamification. According to them, when user health is tracked over time, it offers a good directional indicator of how the user’s health and well-being is evolving over time. Health is invisible and therefore, all health scores in use have one thing in common: they want to capture and measure health and wellness and make it visible.

[004] A wide array of technologies are available that allow data to be collected on various components of wellness many of them using a variant of the Health Scoring system. Devices for measuring physical attributes, such as blood pressure, blood glucose and total cholesterol are also commonly used by patients with chronic diseases such as diabetes or hypertension. Furthermore, devices for monitoring exercise and energy expenditure are increasingly popular and ranges from heart rate monitors or step counters to more elaborate computerized exercise machines.

[005] The existing solutions in today’s market are very fragmented and do not offer a comprehensive picture of the user’s health. There are mobile tracking applications that measures different health elements in isolation. For instance, there are several applications that measure sleep, nutrition or activity separately. There exists no single measure of the consumers’ health and fitness in the market Different gadgets and applications track different data in isolation.

[006] In view of the aforementioned disadvantages, there exist a need to provide a health measurement (scoring) system for providing an overall score or grade of the user's health and wellness. The present invention eliminates the shortcomings of the existing prior arts and provides a health management (scoring) system that gives one resultant score that is a comprehensive and dynamic measure of the user’s health.

OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
[007] The main object of the present invention is to provide a health measurement (scoring) system that calculates the overall score or grade of the user's health and wellness, based on the lifestyle status, fitness status and body status of a user.

[008] Another object of the present invention is to provide a health measurement (scoring) system, wherein the score calculated provides current health status of an user and suggests ways to improve overall health.

[009] Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a method for calculating the heath score by taking into account several elements/parameters.

[0010] Other objects and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following description taken in connection with the illustrations to disclose the aspects of the present invention.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0011] The present invention is directed to a health measurement or scoring system and a method for providing an overall score or grade of the user's health and wellness. The overall health score gives an user a general sense of his/her overall health. The score also provides significant motivation to users aspiring to improve their overall health by offering suitable suggestions.

[0012] According to an embodiment of the present invention, the health scoring system calculates the heath of the user based on statistical data of the user’s lifestyle status (sleep, nutrition, activity), fitness status (exercises, calories burnt etc.) and body status (vitals, medical and other data).

[0013] In another embodiment of the present invention, the different status of the user is calculated to provide dynamic result or score of the user’s improvement and performance.

[0014] In another embodiment of the present invention, the score achieved is dynamic and changes with every small achievement of the user.

[0015] These and other features and advantages of the present invention may be incorporated into certain embodiments of the invention and will become more apparent from the following description or may be learned by the practice of the invention as set forth hereinafter. The present invention does not require that all the advantageous features and all the advantages described herein be incorporated into every embodiment of the invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0016] The following description describes various features and functions of the disclosed system and method and are not meant to be limiting. It can be readily understood that certain aspects of the disclosed system and method can be arranged and combined in a wide variety of different configurations, all of which are contemplated herein.

[0017] The embodiment is chosen and described to provide the best illustration of the principles of the invention and its practical application and to enable one of ordinary skill in the art to utilize the invention in various embodiments and with various modifications as are suited to the particular use contemplated.

[0018] The present invention is directed to a health measurement or scoring system and a method for providing an overall score or grade of the user's health and wellness. The overall health score gives an user a general sense of his/her overall health. The score also provides significant motivation to users aspiring to improve their overall health. The vitals of a user may be entered using handled or wearable devices.

[0019] The health scoring system is highly dynamic and combines all the basics of a user’s Health, Fitness and Vitals and involves a method for calculating the heath score by taking into account several elements/parameters.

[0020] The lifestyle parameter measures the users activity that includes movements throughout the day; active minutes; steps and distance; sleep that includes the quantity and quality of sleep on a daily basis; sleep duration; sleep timings; sleep efficiency and nutrition that specifically includes the meals intake; daily logging of meals; breakfast; lunch; dinner; water logs; macro nutrients; carbohydrates; fats; proteins; micro nutrients and vitamins and minerals.

[0021] The fitness parameter measures varying intensities of physical work the users engage in throughout the day such as physically demanding work life or regular workout, it adds value to his/her health and mental well-being and the calories burned during workouts.

[0022] Our bodies are constantly changing and through measuring the vital parameters the system gets a deeper understanding of user’ physiology. The system measures the components of the user’s blood work including basal metabolic index and vital logs.

[0023] The present method for computing a health score of an user involves use of a computing device having a processor, memory and code modules executing in the processor for the collection, processing and publishing the processed information as output. Further, predetermined weighting factors are used as variables to calculate and assign a relative value to each of the parameters that are used to calculate the health score.

[0024] With the help of scientifically derived formulas and algorithms the scoring system computes all the above health parameters with recommended allocated weightages to give ONE resultant score that is a comprehensive and dynamic measure of the user’s health.

[0025] In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the method for computing ONE resultant health score of an user is determined. Information concerning a plurality of health parameters namely lifestyle, fitness and vital parameters of the user is received by the user device. The received information on the weighed health parameters are combined to give one resultant health score being displayed on a user device. The user device used in calculating the health score is a mobile device preferably, a mobile phone.

a communication unit to receive data on lifestyle, fitness and vital parameters of the user;
a memory unit to store the received data;
a processor to give one resultant health score as output on a user device for an user.

[0027] Although the embodiments herein are described with various specific embodiments, it will be obvious for a person skilled in the art to practice the invention with modifications. However, all such modifications are deemed to be within the scope of the invention.

We claim:
