BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
A number of tooth paste are as such known in the prior art for cleaning the tooth. Even the herbal tooth paste compositions are known in the prior art for cleaning the tooth. One of the herbal tooth paste is disclosed in the Indian patent no. 215567. The tooth paste composition comprises 0.5 to 0.85 weight percent carrageenan, at least 70% of the carrageenan being iota carrageenan, 35 to50 weight percent water, 35 to 50 weight percent of a calcium based polishingagent or abrasive, 5 to 15 weight percent humectant and 0.5 to 5.0 weightpercent surfactant.
In the PCT application no. PCT/EP1999/005362, a toothpaste comprising, in a liquid or pasty medium, particulate calcium carbonate as the main abrasive cleaning agent is disclosed. Characterized in that the particulate calcium carbonate comprises a mixture of 75-92.5 % by weight of the mixture fine of particulate calcium carbonate with a weight average particle size of between 1 and 15 microns, and 7.5-25 % by weight of the mixture of coarse particulate calcium carbonate with a weight average particle size of between 30 and 120 microns.
In the US patent no. 7083779, a process for the preparation of a formulation is disclosed. The formulation comprises 2 to 5.5% w/v (Azadirachtaindica from bark and leaves); 0.5 to 2.5% w/v (Citrulluscolocynthis); 0.1 to 0.4% w/v (Cucumissativus): 82–97% w/v of carrier or additive.
There are disadvantages associated with the herbal tooth paste known in the prior art. One of the disadvantages is thatthe conventional herbal tooth paste comprises only few herbs and therefore is incapable of taking due oral care.
Another disadvantages is that so many useful herbs have not been used so far and therefore the toothpaste is not capable to clean the teeth and gums completely.
Yet another disadvantages is that the convention tooth paste are incapable to keep oral cleanness and freshness for a long time.
Therefore, there is a need to develop anherbal tooth paste comprising aloe vera and other efficacious natural and active herbs for oral care.
