Abstract: A high modulus hot rolled steel having high modulus elasticity is provided. The high modulus hot rolled steel comprises the following composition expressed in weight %: C: 0.03-0.15, P<0.03, Cr<1, Mn: 0.0 – 2.0, Si: 0.0-1, S<0.03, Al<0.15, B: 1.8-3, Ti:4-6, N<0.015, and the balance being Iron (Fe) and unavoidable impurities. The high modulus hot rolled steel comprises a microstructure of 73-90% ferrite, maximum 5% pearlite, and 5-22% TiB2 particles. The high modulus hot rolled steel exhibits an elastic modulus E>240 GPa, a tensile strength ≥ 450 MPa, a yield strength ≥ 250 MPa, a total elongation ≥ 10%, and a hardness ≥ 150 Hv. A method (100) for manufacturing high modulus hot rolled steel strip of the abovementioned composition is also provided.
