THE FOLLOWING SPECIFICATION PARTICULARLY DESCRIBES AND ASCERTAINS THE NATURE OF THIS INVENTION AND THE MANNER IN
WHICH IT IS TO BE PERFORMED

FIELD OF INVENTION:
The present invention relates to a hood holding bracket. More particularly the present invention relates hood holding mechanism by means of bracket for the automotive vehicle in open position.
BACKGROUND AND PRIOR ART:
The hood is a cover over the engine of a motor vehicle and is hinged to the vehicle body. It is also called as bonnet.
Variety of mechanisms / systems to hold the hood in open position is available in public domain which has met with varying degrees of success.
Many hoods use a prop rod integrated with the vehicle. The prop rod is located on the upper frame of the front or side rails and attached at the bottom. A small clip holds the upper end of the rod in place. Release the rod from the clip, swing it upward and locate its seating position (usually marked) on the underside of the hood. Other models may have the prop rod attached to the underside of the hood and the seating position located on the upper frame rails. The drawback of this system is that there are greater chances of sliding the prop rod leading to accident. Also over a period of time prop rods tend to bend leading to poor holding of the hood.
High-end vehicles are now using hydraulic hood shocks to automatically open car hoods and replace the hood prop rod altogether. This system is very costly and complex in nature. It also requires periodic maintenance for its proper functioning.
UK patent No. GB 220843 discloses an improved bracket for hood stick fittings of vehicles. Metal brackets of the shape shown are secured to the sides of motor coach bodies for receiving and holding the hook sticks of a collapsible hood. The bracket is provided with a slot C to accommodate the hood stick with its extension E and a, countersunk D for the wing not shown.

Webs F are provided and served to suit the sides of the vehicle bodies. This system is bulky and involves the mechanical linkages leading to complexity.
Japanese patent application No. JP 2008087508 describes a hood hinge bracket and its mounting structure. Hood hinge brackets are composed of a pair of right and left members for mounting a pair of right and left hood hinges on the car body so as to support the front hood to be opened and closed, and are connected to two or more car body panels for transferring the load from the front of the car body to the front pillar panel. This bracket is complex in nature and it targets to keep a positional relation between a front hood and a car body to efficiently transfer a load from the front of the car body to a front pillar panel.
None of the prior art hood hinge brackets / mechanisms to hold hood in open position educates on a simpler and cost effective solution.
OBJECTIVES OF THE PRESENT INVENTION:
The main object of the present invention is to provide a novel mechanism using a hood holding bracket to hold the hood of an automotive vehicle in open position.
Another object of the present invention is to eliminate the need of prop rod / stay rod to hold the hood in open position.
Still another object of the present invention is use / manage the under hood space very effectively.
Still further object of the present invention is to provide a simple and less complex mechanism to hold hood in open position
Accordingly the invention provides a hood holding mechanism comprises a bracket of plate shape, fitted to the vehicle body, having a pair grooves with inner edge rail type arrangement, first groove, a longitudinal groove cut

to form inverted L shape at an angle 75 to 80 degrees to the horizontal and an another small groove cut at distant making an angle 5 to 20 degrees to the horizontal; a pair of rollers attached to the bonnet by means of pin around which rotates such that when hood is in closed position the roller in small groove is at one end and roller in the inverted L-shape is at lower edge and in the open position of the hood the roller in the small groove is at other end and roller in the inverted L-shaped groove at upper side at the corner edge projection of L-shape.
Accordingly the invention provides a hood holding bracket for automotive vehicle used in the hood holding mechanism comprises a bracket of plate shape adapted to be fitted the vehicle body having a pair grooves, with inner edge rail type arrangement, one a longitudinal groove having cut inverted L shape at an angle 75 to 80 degrees to the horizontal and an another small groove at an angle 5 to 20 degrees to the horizontal cut at distant.
DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES:
The objects and features of the present invention will be more clearly understood from the following description of the invention taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which,
Figure 1 shows the hood hinge bracket with hood in closed position in accordance with the present invention.
Figure 2 shows the hood hinge bracket with hood in open position in accordance with the present invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PRESENT INVENTION:
Referring to Fig. 1 & 2, which illustrates a mechanism for holding hood of an automobile using a hood hinge bracket (1) is a metal piece comprising of a longitudinal groove (2) cut in inverted L shape and another small groove (3) cut on the bracket (1). The inner edge of the grooves (2 & 3) has rail type arrangement to slide the rollers (5 & 6) over it. The rollers (5 & 6) are

attached to the edge of bonnet (4) with the help of pin around which the roller rotates. The cut groove (2) is made at an angle of 75 to 80 degrees with the horizontal. The cut groove (3) is made at an angle of 5 to 20 degrees with the horizontal.
When the bonnet (4) is to be taken to open position from the closed position, it is lifted manually from its front end (8). As the bonnet (4) moves in upward direction, the roller (5) slides in the longitudinal groove (2) from its position at downside of the groove to upper side and gets locked at projection (7) as shown in Fig. 2. At the same time the roller (6) slides in the groove (3) changing its position from left corner of the groove to the right corner of the groove.
When the bonnet (4) is to be taken to the closed position from the open position, it is slightly lifted manually from its front end (8) and slightly pushed backward over the projection (7). As the bonnet (4) moves in downward direction, the roller (5) slides in the longitudinal groove (2) from its position at projection (7) of the groove to lower side of the groove as shown in Fig. 1. At the same time the roller (6) slides in the groove (3) changing its position from right corner of the groove to the left corner of the groove.
The hood hinge bracket (1) and rollers (5 & 6) is made from metal or fiber reinforced plastic material or combination of thereof fulfilling the mechanical requirements.
It is to be understood that the present invention is not limited in its application to the details of the construction and to the arrangements of the components as mentioned in the above description or illustrated in the drawings. The invention is capable of other embodiments and of being practiced and carried out in various ways. Also, the terminologies used herein are for the purpose of description and should not be regarded as limiting.

ADVANTAGES OF THE PRESENT INVENTION:
• The hood hinge bracket is low cost and easy to handle.
• It requires less space under the hood. Only one bracket is sufficient to hold the hood in open position.
• The space underside the bonnet / hood is managed and utilized effectively.
• No need of stay rod to hold the hood in open position.
