Abstract: This hot-dip Zn plated steel sheet includes a steel sheet and a plating layer formed on at least a portion of the surface of the steel sheet. The plating layer has a chemical composition containing, in mass%, 6.00-35.00% of Al, 2.00-12.00% of Mg, 0.005-2.00% of Ca, 0-2.00% of Si, 0-2.00% of Fe, 0-0.50% of Sb, 0-0.50% of Sr, 0-0.50% of Pb, 0-1.00% of Sn, 0-1.00% of Cu, 0-1.00% of Ti, 0-1.00% of Ni, 0-1.00% of Mn, and 0-1.00% of Cr, the remaining portion being Zn and impurities. In a cross section of the plating layer in the thickness direction, the area percentage of a MgZn2 phase is 15-60%. The MgZn2 phase contains a Ca-based intermetallic compound having a circle equivalent diameter of 0.10 µm or less.
