Abstract: AN ELECTRIC PROPULSION SYSTEM WITH A CONVENTIONAL INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE (ICE). PIXY IS A LIGHT WEIGHT SMALL HYBRID ELECTRIC CAR WITH A SMALL PETROL INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE. PETROL ENGINE IS USED TO FULFILL MORE POWER REQUIREMENT WHEN NEEDED AND IT CAN ALSO BE USED AS AN ALTERNATIVE WHEN BATTERY BACKUP IS NOT ENOUGH. PLX Y IS A TWO SEATER SMART CAR WHICH IS DEVELOPED TO MEET THE NEED OF COMMUTERS, CITY TRAVELERS AND DISABLE PERSONS. AUTO PILOT MODE (APM) IS EXTREMELY HELPFUL FOR DISABLE PERSONS IN TRAFFIC JAM OR SLOW MOVING CONDITIONS.

Specification

This invention relates to the development of an Android Based Hybrid Electric Smart Car
named as PIXY (see figure 1), which combines an electric propulsion system with a
conventional internal combustion-engine (ICE). PIXY is a light weight small hybrid electric car
with a small petrol internal combustion engine. Petrol engine is used to fulfill more power
requirement when needed and it can also be used as an alternative when battery backup is not
enough. PIXY is a two seater smart car which is developed to meet the need of commuters, city
travelers and disable persons. Auto Pilot Mode (APM) is extremely helpful for disable persons in
traffic jam or slow moving conditions.
Software controlled integrated Dual Power
Transmission Switch (DPTS) is developed to
switch or select the power/fuel type between
Electric and Petrol. A GUI based Smart Car
Control System (SCCS) (see figure 2) is
developed, which can be easily installed on any
Android based smart phone or tablet. SCCS can
communicate with DPTS, Door opening system,
GPS navigation system and music system of
PIXY through Bluetooth. The smart phone or
tablet can be easily mounted on the front

dashboard of PIXY. The commuter can easily select the buttons on touch screen of smart phone
to switch the desired power source either electric or petrol, moreover other functions can also be
operated like opening/closing the doors, music player, GPS navigation etc.

PIXY has following features and technical specifications.
FEATURES:
(i) Gullwing Doors
PIXY has three doors. Two side doors opens upwards automatic I manual and one back door
opens upwards manual (see figure 3).

(ii) Access through RFID system

PIXY gets Power ON and doors open upwards through an authorized RFID card (see figure 4).
Moreover manual button on dashboard or soft button on smart phone can also be used to open
and close the doors.

(iii) Auto Pilot Mode (APM)
This feature is extremely helpful for disable persons. APM controls the car in long traffic jams
and slow moving conditions. In APM car gets switch to Battery mode and follows the slow
moving traffic without collision (see figure 5).

(iv) Smart Car Control System (SCCS)

A smart phone or tablet which can be easily mounted on the dashboard of the car as shown above
is used as sees.

SCCS can communicate with DPTS, Door opening system, GPS navigation system and music
system of PIXY through Bluetooth. Figure 6 is the home screen of SCCS. On pressing CAR
button following window opens (see figure 7).

is directly linked with DC motor chain drive shaft and petrol engine shaft as shown in figure 8.

PRIOR ART AND PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED
The smart cars already available in the market does not have duel power mode, which can be
switched from Battery to Petrol and vice versa through Android based smart phone or tablet, they
are either Petrol or Battery and smart features are not available like Gull Wing Doors, Auto Pilot
Mode and RFID system to access. The car which I developed named as PIXY, have hybrid
solution for Battery and Petrol. This is electric car, which combines an electric propulsion system
with a conventional internal combustion engine (ICE). PIXY is a light weight small hybrid
electric car with a small petrol internal combustion engine. Petrol engine is used to fulfill more
power requirement when needed and it can also be used as an alternative when battery backup is
not enough. PIXY is a two seater smart car which is developed to meet the need of commuters,
city travelers and disable persons. Auto Pilot Mode (APM) is extremely helpful for disable
persons in traffic jam or slow moving conditions. PIXY having Gull Wing doors which is
operated through Smart phone or manual push buttons. PIXY having RFID system to open and
close the doors through RFID Smart Card, these features make this car smart and unique.
SIGNATURE

Claims:
1. I claim that, Power modes either Electric Mode or Petrol Mode or Both (Electric and
Petrol) can be selected through Android based Smart Phone.
2. I claim that, Gull Wing Doors can be operated through Android based Smart Phone or
through manual push buttons on the dashboard.
3. I claim that, the in built Bluetooth module is used to communicate with Android based
Smart Phone to control Gull Wing Doors, DPTS (Duel Power Transmission Switch).
4. I claim that, the inbuilt RFID system of frequency 13.56 MHz enables doors OPEN and
CLOSE through contact less RFID smart card.
5. I claim that, the inbuilt Auto Pilot Mode (APM) puts the car on battery mode and follows
the slow moving vehicle ahead in dense traffic jam conditions.
6. I claim that, Android based Smart Phone which is used as Smart Car Control System
(SCCS) can be easily mounted on the dashboard of car and is easily detachable. SCCS
used to select power mode (Electric or Petrol or Both) and to operate Gull Wing Doors.
SCCS is also used as (i) Speedo Meter which shows the speed of the car using GPS, (ii)
GPS navigation and (iii) music system for the car.
7. I claim that, Chain Drive Duel Sprocket Differential is designed and developed for duel
power transmission.
8. I claim that, the developed car having inbuilt charging system to charge the batteries and
in addition Solar System can also be used to charge the batteries.
9. I claim that, the developed car having (i) LED based cluster panel to show the Power
Mode status, Doors open-close status, (ii) welcome message on door opening and
closing, (iii) LED lights and warning indicators on the doors, which switches ON when
doors open, (iv) LED based taillight viewed through across the rear wind shield.
