Abstract: A Hybrid Electric Vehicle Dual Power Transmission Switch (DPTS) is developed, which is used in switching the distinct power sources in hybrid vehicles. DPTS works on logical switching which is controlled by the Smart Car Control System (SCCS). DPTS system is linked parallel with Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and controller of DC motor 60V.
Before I explain about the development of Hybrid Electric Vehicle Dual Power Transmission
Switch (DPTS}, let's understand what hybrid vehicles are. Any vehicle that has two or more
distinct power sources can be called a hybrid vehicle. Hybrid vehicles are of different types,
vehicles use both the fuels petrol and CNG can also be termed as hybrid vehicle, but if we talk
about hybrid electric vehicles, these vehicles that combine a usual internal combustion engine as
well as an electric motor as shown in figure 1. ·
A Hybrid Electric Vehicle Dual Power Transmission Switch (DPTS) is developed, which is
used in switching the distinct power sources in hybrid vehicles. DPTS works on logical
switching which is controlled by the Android based Smart Car Control System (SCCS). DPTS
system is linked in parallel with (i) Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and (ii) controller of DC
motor 60V as ~hown in figure 1.

Working of Hybrid Electric Vehicle Dual Power Transmission Switch (DPTS)
DPTS which communicate through Bluetooth with Smart Car Control System (SCCS) (see figure 2),
controls both the power transmissions received from petrol engine and electric motor. Switching
to either mode (Petrol or Battery) or to both the modes can be done manual or automatic in
different scenarios. User can select Petrol mode when more power is needed or in the case of low
battery backup. Smart Car Control System convert the transmission to electric mode during Auto.
Pilot conditions or when the vehicle remains in idle condition for a long.

Two DC motors M1 and M2 receive the command from SCCS through Bluetooth (see figure 3).
Both the motors deliver high torque at 10 RPM to rotate the respective connecting rod. Each
connecting rod bear a U shaped hook at one end which can be easily hooked with the sliding rod
of respective mode. Both the DC motors M1 and M2 coupling with the connecting rods are
assembled on a sliding platform. Four ball bearings are fitted at the bottom of sliding platform to
move the platform horizontally forward and backward on the side rails. Both the sliding rods are
connected with Accelerator Control cables of Petrol Engine and DC Electric Motor 60V .
respectively. The Accelerator ofthe vehicle is connected with the control cable ofDPTS. DPTS
switches ON the respective device Petrol Engine or Controller of DC motor 60V and make a link
to the respective Accelerator Control Cable as per the command received from Smart Car
Control System (SCCS).

PRIOR ART AND PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED
The smart cars already available in the market does not have duel power mode, which can be
switched from Battery to Petrol and vice versa through Android based smart phone or tablet. The
Hybrid Electric Vehicle Dual Power Transmission Switch (DPTS), which I developed is used
in switching the distinct power sources in hybrid vehicles. DPTS works on logical switching
which is controlled by the Android based Smart Car Control System (SCCS). DPTS system is
linked parallel with Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and controller of DC motor.
