Hydraulic Pressure Testing Facility Of Pipelines Of Lca Tejas Aircraft

Abstract: LCA Aircraft is having around 1000 pipe lines which to be tested before installation on the Aircraft. To meet the requirement of pressure testing of the pipelines, a Compact pressure test facility is required. The invention describes the development of customized Hydraulic Pressure Test Facility for the division, which is part of the process for the pipes/pipe assemblies that are fitted on the aircraft.

DESCRIPTION

TECHNICAL FIELD

The invention describes the development of customized Hydraulic Pressure Test Facility for the LCA Tejas Aircraft, which is part'of the checking and validation process for the pipes/pipe assemblies to be fitted on the aircraft.

BACKGROUND OF INVENTION

LCA Aircraft is having around 1000 pipe lines which are to be pressure tested before installation on the Aircraft. To meet the requirement of pressure testing of the pipelines, Compact pressure test facility is designed and developed. Actual working pressure of Titanium pipelines are around 1000 bar. The pressure test facility is designed to test the pipelines accordingly.

Hydraulic fluid used in the Test facility is MIL5606H.

SUMMARY OF INVENTION

Establishment of customized compact Hydraulic pressure test facility for testing the pipe lines before installation in the Aircraft.

PROCESS DETAIL DESCRIPTION:

Pipe lines: LCA Aircraft is having around 1000 pipelines which to be tested before installation in the Aircraft. Actual working pressure of these pipe lines is around 1000 bar.
Pressure test facility was designed based on

• Material of the pipes

• Working pressure of the pipe

Pressure test facility includes:

SS Tank reservoir: It is used to store the hydraulic fluid which is used for pressurization of pipes.

Hydraulic filter: The contamination of the hydraulic fluid is reduced by passing the fluid through the filters.

Hydraulic pre-filling pump with motor: The flow of the hydraulic fluid is being done by this pump which is driven by a motor.

Air Operated Liquid Pump: The circulation is controlled by Air operated pump.

Check valve: Check valve is used for controlling the flow of fluid in one direction.

Pressure Regulator: Pressure regulator is a valve that automatically cuts off the flow of a liquidat a certain pressure.

The pipes are connected to the Outlet connections through the suitable adopters. The hydraulic flow is generated and the pipes are subjected to the required pressure gradually. The pipes are subjected to a pressure of 1000 bar. The pressure is regulated and monitored using the pressure gauges. The pipes are then inspected for any deformation and other dimensional changes. If no deviation is found, the pipes will be approved to be fitted on the aircraft, after subsequent operation on the pipes.
