Abstract: The present invention discloses the squeeze cylinders being installed to occupy the space inside the bottom structure which limits the increase in height and footprint of press due to long stroke squeeze cylinder. The present invention uses molds of different sizes in a single hydraulic tire curing press. The invention in this regard discloses an indexing spacers mold height adjustment mechanism. Indexing spacer mechanism consists of moving spacer and a fixed spacer. A manual or automated linkage mechanism positions the moving spacers above different steps on the fixed spacer. In this condition the opening of mold in will be restricted to the gap between the moving spacer and the respective step in the fixed spacer. This positioning of moving spacer above the fixed spacer limit the mold opening to the predefined safe value and also sets the mold height. Figure: 4
1. A hydraulic tire curing press comprises
a bottom structure (1) fixed at both sides of side frame (5) accommodates
plurality of squeeze cylinders (6),
a top structure (2) movable in linear directions on extension and retraction
of press lift cylinders (22),
a top mold section (3) secured to top platen (8) and the top platen (8) being
secured to the top structure with a top platen insulation (7) between the top
platen (8) and the top structure (2),
a bottom mold section (4) secured to bottom platen (9) and the bottom
platen (9) being secured to the bottom platen support (10) with a bottom
platen insulation (11) between the bottom platen (9) and the bottom platen
support (10), and
an indexing spacer mechanism (15) secured between the bottom platen
support (10) and top surface of the bottom structure (1).
2. The hydraulic tire curing press as claimed in claim 1, wherein the indexing spacer mechanism comprises a moving spacer (12) and a fixed spacer (13) that supports in holding molds of different sizes.
3. The hydraulic tire curing press as claimed in claim 1, wherein the moving spacer (12) are secured to bottom surface of the bottom platen support (10) by guiderails (16) and the fixed spacer (13) are secured to top surface of the bottom structure (1).
4. The hydraulic tire curing press as claimed in claim 1, wherein the fixed spacers (13) comprises machined steps of varying heights defined to match required molds of different sizes.
5. The hydraulic tire curing press as claimed in claim 1, wherein movement of the moving spacers (12) are directed by links (17).
6. The hydraulic tire curing press as claimed in claim 1, wherein the links (17) are secured to an actuator ring (18) and the actuator ring (18) are connected to bottom surface of bottom platen support (10) by rollers (21).
7. The hydraulic tire curing press as claimed in claim 1, wherein an actuator lever (19) secured to the actuator ring (18) by means of a cam roller (29) changes position of the moving spacers (12).
8. The hydraulic tire curing press as claimed in claim 1, wherein positioning of the moving spacers (12) above the fixed spacers (13) limit mold opening to predefined safe value.
9. The hydraulic tire curing press as claimed in claim 1, wherein the moving spacers (12) are positioned above the different steps in the fixed spacers (13) by locking the actuator lever (19) to lock position holes (24) predrilled in the bottom platen support (10) using a lock pin (28).
10. The hydraulic tire curing press as claimed in claim 1, wherein a side frame (5) comprises side frame rails (23) for linear movement of the top structure (2) and press lock shafts (20) for locking the top structure (2) at defined positions.
11. The hydraulic tire curing press as claimed in claim 1, wherein the squeeze cylinders rod connects the bottom platen support (10) to the bottom structure (1).
12. The hydraulic tire curing press as claimed in claim 1, wherein a squeeze rod retainer (27) connects the squeeze cylinder rod to the bottom platen support.
13. The hydraulic tire curing press as claimed in claim 1, wherein strokes of the squeeze cylinders (6) compensates deflections and gaps between the top mold section (3) and the bottom mold section (4).
14. The hydraulic tire curing press as claimed in claim 1, wherein the squeeze cylinders (6) is capable of being assembled/ disassembled from sides.
15. The hydraulic tire curing press as claimed in claim 1, wherein plurality of provisions are provided on the bottom structure as shown in figures 9 & 10 (1) to secure multiple squeeze cylinders.
