Hydrogen Generation Unit

Abstract: A hydrogen generation unit (100) comprising a pre-reformer (102), a membrane reactor (104), and a reformer (106). The membrane reactor (104) is fluidly coupled to the pre-reformer (102) and the reformer (106). The pre-reformer (102) processes hydrocarbons, present in an input gas stream, to obtain a feed gas. The membrane reactor comprises a first separation chamber (202) and a reaction chamber (206) fluidly coupled to the first separation chamber (202). The first separation chamber (202) has a first membrane ring (208) to separate a predetermined gas component from the feed gas to obtain a treated feed gas. The reaction chamber (206) carries out catalytic reactions between the treated feed gas and steam to obtain processed feed gas. The reformer (106) converts CH4 present in the processed feed gas to obtain CO, CO2, and H2.
