DESC:FIELD OF INVENTION
The embodiments of the present disclosure are generally related to the internal combustion engine system of a vehicle. More particularly, but not exclusively, it pertains to the Ignition Coil System with an adaptor for the efficient operation of the internal combustion engine system.
BACKGROUND
Interpretation Considerations
The section describes the technical field in detail and discusses the problem encountered in technical field. Therefore, the statements in the section are not to be construed as prior art.
Discussion
The conventional after-market Ignition Coil System comprises of plurality of ignition coils and bracket structure to mount the ignition coils at specific predefined location over the cylinder head of the internal combustion engine system.
During the operational working of the internal combustion engine, a lot of vibrations and heat are generated from the combustion mixture. Therefore, for the significant working of the engine, the ignition coils need to withstand the generated vibrations and heat. Conventionally, to fulfill this requirement, a large and extended bracket structure has been used.
The conventional bracket assembly is mounted on the cylinder head of the internal combustion engine with several bolts at different predefined locations on one side. Similarly, on the other side of the bracket assembly, there are multiple holders for ignition coils and several two-point bolts to fix the coil to the bracket assembly.
The large and extended bracket assembly with handling parts occupies more space, becomes an overweight assembly, requires bolting and tooling costs, involves higher part costs, and takes more time for assembly and service. Importantly, due to the conventional bracket assembly, less open space is available for heat dissipation to the environment, decreasing cooling efficiency significantly. This affects the overall performance and efficiency of the internal combustion engine.

The present invention provides effective and efficient solutions to the above-mentioned problems with competitive economic significance.

These embodiments are described in sufficient detail to enable those skilled in the art to practice the disclosure, and it is to be understood that other embodiments may be utilized, and changes may be made without departing from the scope of the present disclosure. The following description is, therefore, not to be taken in a limiting sense.
The detailed description of the figures provides a better comprehension of the present invention.
Figure 1 illustrates an exemplary arrangement of the components of the Ignition Coil System with an adaptor (100).
In one embodiment, the ignition coil system with an adaptor (100) comprises a Seal Head (102); a Pin Connector (104); a Pressure rod (106); a Spark Plug Boot (108); and a Single-point Adapter (110). The single-point adaptor (110) is a compact design with adequate clamping force and is a suitable replacement for the conventional large and extended bracket assembly used to hold the ignition coil system (100). The single-point adaptor (110) positions the ignition coil system (100) over the cylinder head (not shown in Figure 1) in a way that the ignition coil system (100) can withstand vibrations and heat generated from the combustion mixture.
In an embodiment, the seal head (102) of the ignition coil system (100) comprises an integrated mating configuration (112), which is a circular extension with external threads fixed within the threaded hollow configuration of the top section (114) of the single-point adaptor (110). Alternatively, other means of arranging the ignition coil system (100) with the single-point adaptor (110) and the mating configuration (112) known to a person skilled in the art can be used to serve the same purpose.
Figure 2 is an illustration of an exemplary component of an Adaptor (200A) and its sectional view (220B).
The designed single-point adaptor (200A) comprises four different sections. In a preferred embodiment, the first top/upper section has an outer hexagonal configuration (202) that provides a mechanical grip to turn and fix the single-point adaptor (200A). In an alternate embodiment, one of the multi-gonal configurations can be used to serve the purpose. Further, the first top/upper section has a circular hollow internal configuration (210) with threading (212). The second intermediate section has a solid circular cross-section (204), the third intermediate section is an annular flange (206), and the fourth bottom section is a solid circular section (208) with external threading configuration (214). In an alternative embodiment, other configurations, shapes, and arrangements of the single-point adaptor known to the person skilled in the art can be utilized to fulfill the same purpose.
In an embodiment, the single-point adaptor (200A) is made of mild steel to achieve adequate clamping forces, specific strength, and economical significance. In an alternative embodiment, any other material/alloy can be used based on the requirement to fulfill the same purpose.
Figure 3 is an illustration of an exemplary component of the assembly of an Adaptor on the cylinder head (300).
In one embodiment, the externally threaded bottom section (310) of the single-point adaptor (302) is arranged or inserted into the cylinder head (308) at a predefined location. The outer surface profile on either side of the annular flange (306) is flat, coinciding with the flat surface profile of the cylinder head (308) of the internal combustion engine. The annular flange (306) acts as a stoppage for the insertion of the bottom section (310) of the single-point adaptor (302) inside the cylinder head (308). Furthermore, the flat surface profile on either side of the annular flange (306), positioned on the cylinder head (308) of the internal combustion engine system, prevents play between the mating parts. In an alternative embodiment, a press-fit mechanism or any other means known to a person skilled in the art can be used to position the adaptor on the cylinder head to serve the same purpose.
Figure 4 is an illustration of an exemplary component of the assembly of the Ignition Coil System with an adaptor over the cylinder Head (400).
In one embodiment of the present invention, the ignition coil system (402) is mounted on the compact-designed single-point adaptor (404) through which the ignition coil system (402) is positioned on the cylinder head (408) of the internal combustion engine system at a predefined location.
The compact design of the single-point adaptor (404) leads to fewer components involved, reducing the number of bolts and bolt extensions, which collectively reduces the overall weight of the engine, the cost of components, and tooling costs. The reduction of excess components provides more open space for heat dissipation to the environment, enhancing the cooling efficiency of the internal combustion engine system and improving serviceability and ease of assembly.
