Abstract: The invention a self-locating ignition lock assembly for a motor vehicle comprising a lock body with a key slot for receiving the ignition key therein, said body having a plate securely fixed to it, said plate having an aperture shaped to expose the key slot; and the plate being made of a fluorescent substance for absorbing light energy during the day and rendering itself fluorescent to be visually self-locating during the night.
This invention relates to a self-locating ignition lock assembly for a motor vehicle, more particularly, though not exclusively, for a two wheeler motor vehicle.
It is common knowledge that in many situations the two wheeler rider will have to grope in the dark for locating the ignition key slot for the purpose of inserting the ignition key therein especially at night. Such a situation causes considerable inconvenience to the rider apart from loss of time.
It is therefore an object of this invention to propose a self-locating ignition lock assembly which enables to the rider to locate the ignition lock assembly quickly and easily, even in total darkness.
The invention proposed herein does not require any source of power, but is self operative and, as stated above, self-locating.
Various other features of this invention will be apparent from the following further description thereof given hereunder:
The self-locating ignition lock assembly for a motor vehicle, according to this invention, comprises a lock body with a key slot for receiving the ignition key therein, said body having a plate securely fixed to it, said plate having an aperture shaped to expose the key slot; and the plate being made of a fluorescent substance for absorbing light energy during the day and rendering itself fluorescent to be visually self-locating during the night
The self-locating ignition lock assembly will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings which illustrate, by way of example, and not by way of limitation, one of the possible embodiments of this invention.
The embodiment will be seen to comprise a lock body B with a key slot S for receiving the ignition key K therein. The body B has a circular ring P securely fixed to it by any known means.
The circular ring P is made of a fluorescent substance for absorbing light energy during the day and rendering itself fluorescent to be visually self-locating during the night.
The circular ring P is securely fixed to the body B. the lock assembly is mounted on the speedometer panel T or to the vehicle body panel in the front Alternatively instead of the circular ring P, the lock body top surface is attached with a circular plate made of fluorescent surface.
It will be appreciated that various other embodiments of this invention are possible without departing from its scope and ambit.
We Claim:
1. A self-locating ignition lock assembly for a motor vehicle comprising a
lock body with a key slot for receiving the ignition key therein, said body
having a plate securely fixed to it, said plate having an aperture shaped to
expose the key slot; and the plate being made of a fluorescent substance
for absorbing light energy during the day and rendering itself fluorescent
to be visually self-locating during the night.
2. A self-locating ignition lock assembly as claimed in Claim 1 wherein
the plate is circular.
3. A self-locating ignition lock assembly as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 wherein the plate is a circular ring.
4. A self-locating ignition lock assembly for a motor vehicle substantially as herein described and illustrated with reference to the accompanying drawings.
We Claim:
