Image Processing Device And Method

Abstract: The present technology pertains to an image processing device and method that enable the prevention of the device becoming high cost. A setting unit sets the size of an image block and restriction information that restricts the prediction method applied to a block of said size. An inter prediction unit generates a predicted image in accordance with the restriction information. An encoder (1000) encodes the block using the predicted image and generates an encoded stream. Also the encoder (1000) transmits the encoded stream and the restriction information. The present technology can be applied to such cases as encoding/decoding an image.
