cationic polymers in hair oil formulation for quoting and conditioning benefits
is also known.
Recently structured surfactant systems are developed which can take high loads
of oil and deliver both shampoo and oil conditioning benefits both in one go.
The structured surfactants systems are typically based on an appropriate

combination of anionic surfactants and oils. These cosmetic products are able to
deliver interesting rheology and / or aspect and / or sensorial profile. However,
conditioning benefits delivered by such systems can never be equal to direct
application of oil.
Hair can suffer damage from a number of sources. For example, max damage ,
especially mechanical damage , can happen while grooming wet hairs .
Mechanical sources of hair damage include excessive brushing and combing
and prolonged use of heated appliances for drying and styling the hair.
Environmental sources of hair damage include such as exposure to UV and
chlorine. Chemical sources of hair damage include treatments such as
bleaching, perming and straightening, and overly frequent washing with harsh
surfactant-based cleansing shampoo formulations.
Damage to the hair typically manifests itself in cuticle and protein loss from the
hair fibre, hair fibre dryness and roughness, hair fibre brittleness and breakage
and frayed or split ends, etc. Dry, damaged hair is prone to further damage
during grooming, resulting in symptoms such as "flyaway" hair which is
difficult to style or which does not retain a style, especially under conditions
such as high humidity.
Various combinations thereof have been suggested for use in the treatment of
dry, damaged and/or unmanageable hair.
The present inventors emphasise that Hair treatment formulations comprising a

ALMOND OIL

Phytochemistry:
Almonds contain approximately 49% oils, of which 62% is monounsaturated
oleic acid (an omega-9 fatty acid), 24% is linoleic acid (a polyunsaturated
omega-6 essential fatty acid), and 6% is palmitic acid (a saturated fatty
acid)[19] and the "Oleum Amygdalae", the fixed oil, prepared from either
variety of almond and is a glyceryl oleate, with a slight odor and a nutty
taste[15]. The other main fatty acids contained in sweet almond oil are:
myristic, palmitoleic, heptadecenoic, 9-heptadecenoic, stearic, linolenic,
arachidic, eicosenoic.
Pharmacology:
This oil is rich in many important nutrients. It has high levels of mono and
polyunsaturated fatty acids, and vitamins like A, Bl, B2, B6, D and E. It greatly
helps to soften, and recondition skin and hair, which makes it excellent for hair.
Many nutrients are required by hair to grow strong and healthy. Vitamin E and
potassium, for hair health is fairly common knowledge, and almond oil with its
high levels in this vitamin can greatly help for hair growth and make hair strong,
reduce inflammation It promote growth by keeping hair moisturized, healthy
and less prone to breakage making hair growth more noticeable.
Hair is made up of keratin, which is a dead protein, according to the American
Hair Loss Association. Since the protein is dead, once it becomes damaged it's
very difficult to fix it almond oil nourishes and moisturizes the scalp, and
removes the flakiness. When hair has breakage, the cuticles are rough and split

ends are evident. Almond oil smoothes the hair cuticles, thus giving a healthier
appearance to hair.
Argan Oil:
Phytochemisty
The seeds contain a large amount of oil, which can reach a value of more than
50%. The oil is composed of triglycerides (95%), mostly consisting of
unsaturated fatty acids (30% linoleic). The unsaponifiable fraction consists of
carotenes (37%), vitamin E (8%), triterpenic alcohols (20%), sterols (20%), and
xanthophylls (5%). The phenolic component contains benzoic, hydroxybenzoic,
phenylacetic, and caffeic acids, while oleuropein, flavonoids, and their
glycosides are also present-
Pharmacology
The argan oil is able to help hydrate the hair in a natural way. It is able to stop
the fly away of hair, the curliness and also the roughness of the hair in a natural
and efficient way. The argan oil is also able to penetrate the pores of the hair
follicles and shaft and thus is able to enhance the elasticity of the hair. With this
penetration, it is also able to help in the nourishing of the hair.
The argan oil is also famous for treating damaged hair by being able to help in
controlling unmanageable hair. The argan oil contains a lot of natural anti-
oxidants that will help strengthen the weakened hair strands. Argan oil adds
shine to hair and is able to restore the natural lustre and beautiful shine of hair.

After a color treatment on hair, application of argan oil can help in removing the
brittleness of the hair and restore its natural smoothness.
For those who love to treat and have their hair styled very often, this product
will definitely help in the repair and restoration of damaged hair due to styling.
JOJOBA OIL
Phytochemistry
Jojoba seed contains a light-gold colored liquid wax ester which is the primary
storage lipid of the plant. Jojoba wax (called oil) makes up 50% of the seed's
dry weight. The physical properties of jojoba oil are: high viscosity, high flash
and fire point, high dielectric constant, high stability and low volatility. Its
formulation is little affected by temperatures up to 570°F (300°C). Jojoba oil
contains straight- chained C20 and C22 fatty acids and alcohols and two
unsaturated bonds, which make the oil susceptible to any different types of
chemical manipulations. The extracted oil is relatively pure, non-toxic,
biodegradable, and resistant to rancidity. Jojoba oil has high boiling as well as
freezing points. It has high thermal stability, smoke, flash and fire points. Its
deformulation point is 315 degree centigrade. Jojoba bean oil contains 45 to 55
per cent oil or liquid wax, with chemical properties similar to those of the body
fat obtained from sperm whale. Jojoba seeds contain alpha, delta, and gamma
tocopherols, all forms of vitamin E.
Pharmacology

Jojoba oil moisturizes the hair strands and protects them from external damage.
This oil removes build-ups on the scalp that can block hair follicles hampering
hair growth.
Unlike other oils, Jojoba oil does not actually penetrate the hair cell membranes.
Instead it seals the hair shaft allowing it to retain its natural oils and nutrients
keeping the hair strong and pliable.
Crusty build-up of serum at the base of the hair follicles is a common cause of
brittle, damaged hair and inhibits new growth as it blocks the flow of new serum
into the hair shaft. Jojoba oil is extremely effective at disintegrating this buildup
and freeing the hair follicle to grow and receive nutrients.
It's filled with rich natural elements, jojoba is easily absorbed by the skin
nourishing it with microelements and nutrients such as:
• Zinc • Iodine • Chromium • Silicon • Vitamin E • Vitamin B • Copper
With regular application of jojoba oil, the scalp can become clean leading to
vibrant, shiny and soft hair. This oil is very good for those having dry hair as it
can make hair soft and well moisturized.
AMLA
Phytochemistry
Amla is highly nutritious and is an important dietary source of Vitamin C,
minerals and amino acids. The edible fruit tissue contains protein concentration
3-fold and ascorbic acid concentration 160-fold compared to that of the
apple. The fruit also contains considerably higher concentration of most minerals
and amino acids than apples. Glutamic acid, proline, aspartic acid, alanine, and

lysine are 29.6%, 14.6%, 8.1%, 5.4% and 5.3% respectively of the total amino
acids. The pulpy portion of fruit, dried and freed from the nuts contains: gallic
acid 1.32%, tannin, gum 13.75%; albumin 13.08%; crude cellulose 17.08%;
mineral matter 4.12% and moisture 3.83%. Amla fruit ash contains chromium,
2.5 ppm; zinc 4 ppm; and copper, 3 ppm.
Pharmacology:
Amla is rich in vitamin C, tannins and minerals such as phosphorus, iron and
calcium which provides nutrition to hair and also causes darkening ,
rejuvenating of hair and warding off thinning and premature greying, adding
body to hair, and stimulating growth.
Amla enriches hair growth and pigmentation. It prevents premature graying of
hair, dandruff, increases the strength of hair follicles (and thus preventing
hairfall). It increases natural shine and soft texture to the hair, but also helps
rejuvenate hairs that are dull and damaged. It also prevents split hair ends.
Application of Amla extract over the scalp has a cooling effect. As such, it
keeps the mind cool and promotes sound sleep. Amla oil is useful for increasing
memory.
Walnut Oil.
Phvlochemistrv:
Walnut oil is limpid, light-coloured oil, delicate in flavour and scent,
with a slightly nutty quality. This oil is high in polyunsaturated fats. It

contains about 20% Oleic acid and 60% Linoleic acid (Omega 6).
Walnuts are the only nuts that contain a significant amount of Omega
3 (Linolenic acid). Omega 3 has an anti-inflammatory effect and it
helps to maintain a supple and youthful skin. Walnut oil also contains
natural Vitamin E. In its role as a captor of free radicals, vitamin E
protects cells from attacks by free radicals by neutralizing them.
Topical vitamin E has shown to have a wide variety of skin benefits.
Many studies have shown that it can help decrease the effects of
psoriasis, erythema, and may help in reducing the risk of skin cancer.
Vitamin E also helps in the reduction of scaring from wounds and on
the appearance of stretch marks on the skin. Walnut oil is highly
hydrating and nourishing due to the Omega 6 content.
Pharmacology:
Many people primarily use walnut oil for moisturizing hair since the
oil is rich in fatty acids that promote strand hydration. This also helps
to prevent dandruff, also known as seborrheic dermatitis. Walnut oil
also contains antifungal properties that are believed to combat several
infections that may affect the scalp and cause hair loss, such
as ringworm. The high concentration of Omega 9, 3 and 6 also help to
prevent balding by strengthening the hair follicles. Hair is believed to

have improved growth due to the stronger strands and possibly due to
a cleaner scalp.
The walnut husk is frequently used as a natural hair dye and to bring
out the natural. Although using walnut oil for hair dye may not be
effective, it is believed that the oil may accentuate the hair's natural
color. In fact, several proteins found in walnut oil are believed to
enhance color and make it appear more vibrant.
Generally, it is recommended to use walnut oil for hair treatments at
least twice a week for the most noticeable results. It may be used on
its own, but it may work best if mixed with other carrier oils. Walnut
oil is considered safe for most people, though is not recommended for
those who suffer from nut allergies.
OLIVE OIL
Phytochemistry:
Olive oil is composed, like all vegetable oils of fatty acids bound to the alcohol
glycerol. Typically, the following fatty acids are found in olive oil: 66% elaic
acid, 12% linoleic acid, 9% palmitic acid, 5% eicosenoic acid and 5%
palmitoleic acid The green colour is caused by chlorophyll (up to 10 ppm).
Olive oil may contain up to 1.5% of an acyclic triterpene hydrocarbon,
squalene.

Pharmacology
Olive oil infuses the scalp with moisture, resulting in less flakes on your hair
thus helps control hair fall & dandruff.
Olive oil's vitamins and nutrients might help make hair strands thicker, which
gives the appearance of a fuller head of hair. Scalp treatments with the oil can
be used to remove sebum build-up, which is sometimes responsible for slowed
hair growth.
It is known by all that olive oil is the best natural oil for hair growth. Regular
use of olive oil revitalizes the scalp, nourishes the hair roots and promotes the
growth of hair strands. This oil contains various elements such as vitamin D,
vitamin E, and B vitamins (niacin and biotin) that help in treating baldness. The
monounsaturated fats (healthy fats) present in this oil gives shine and lustre to
damaged hair. By daily massaging the scalp with olive oil there will be
improvement in blood flow to the scalp, which in turn stimulates hair growth.
Olive oil is rich in high levels of mono-unsaturated fatty acids and Vitamin E.
Vitamin E is an antioxidant, promotes overall scalp health, also it literally steeps
the hair cuticles in moisture. Both mono-unsaturated fatty acids and vitamin E
protect and nourishing hair. Olive oil makes hair grow stronger. Due to its
emollient properties olive oil is often recommended for treating hair loss. It
helps in battling dandruff, which can be one of the reasons for hair loss.

Most people have hair loss because of the presence of a hormone called DTH
which leads the hair follicle shaft to decrease. The oils ability to prevent DHT
from strangling the hair and decreasing the follicle size not only promotes the
natural growth of hair, but also aids in the reversal of hair loss.
Coconut Oil
Phytochemistry
Fatty acids:caprylic,capric,lauric,linoleic,myristic,oleic,palmitic,stearic
Pharmacology
The benefits of coconut oil for hair are numerous. Coconut oil helps keep hair
fully moisturised, it promotes full growth and creates strong hair whilst keeping
the scalp free from flakes. Its main benefit comes from increasing the protein
retention in hair - allowing for fuller and stronger growth. Coconut oil benefits
black hair in two important ways.
First, coconut oil's hydrophobic oil characteristics allow it to inhibit the
penetration of water from the surrounding air and environment. Second, coconut
oil is able to bind to the natural protein structure of the hair. This helps the hair
retain its natural moisture content and reinforces the hair fibre, making it
stronger.
One of the primary causes of hair loss and recession of the hair line is the action
of microbes on the scalp and at the base of the follicles. Laurie acid in coconut

oil acts as an anti-microbial oil that prevents the build-up of damaging microbes
thus preventing hair loss and stimulating fresh strong growth.
Coconut oil also contains a high Capric acid. It tackles microbes at the source
preventing further spread and loss of hair whilst stimulating new hair growth.
The minerals and vitamin E present in the oil helps in correcting damaged hair
and helps in maintaining the shine and lustre of the hair strands and keeps hair
free from lice and dandruff.
The fatty acids in coconut oil serve as a great anti-dandruff mechanism. Regular
application softens and moistens the skin reducing the accumulation of hair and
flakes.
It acts by promoting the growth of cells in hair. It also prevent scalp to become
dry . Study had suggested that coconut oil had been proven to minimize protein
loss from hair.
It can also make hair more moisturize. Miniaturization will help strengthen hair
roots.
Research has been conducted to better understand the oil and its benefits in hair
care. Recent research points to coconut oil's benefits as both a sealant and hair
protein reconstruct or of sorts. These protein reconstructor benefits are
especially interesting in black hair care applications. Solid at room temperature,
coconut oil has been used for generations by women of colour in those tropical
paradises around the world where coconuts are indigenous and grow freely.

Coconut Oil as a Sealant
It is found that while wet hair is able to absorb trace amounts of coconut oil
residue into the hair fibre, coconut oil is only able to act on the surface of dried
hair with no penetration into the hair fibre. In its sealant capacity, coconut oil
acts as other oils. It simply coats and conditions the outer cuticle layer
enhancing shine and increasing the hair fibre's pliability. It also reduces friction
and static electricity between the hair fibres.
Coconut Oil as Protein and Moisture Support
Researchers also found that using coconut oil as pre-shampoo treatment is better
than using it post-wash. This is partly owing to the fact that coconut oil only
seems to penetrate wet hair fibres. The constant swelling and shrinking of the
hair fibre in response to typical washing, conditioning, and drying stresses the
hair. When coconut oil is used on the hair as a pre-treatment, a small portion of
coconut oil is absorbed into the hair fibre when the fibre naturally swells. The
authors suggest that some coconut oil residue may even be able to penetrate into
the hair's cortex. The authors suggest that this penetration effect is minimal on
undamaged, healthy hair. Damaged, or porous hair, is the best candidate for
coconut oil penetration because the cuticle is vulnerable and already relatively
open. Coconut oil protects the hair by binding to the hair's inner proteins which
reduces the hair's ability to swell in response to water. Ruetsch et al. found that
coconut oil actually reduces the hair protein's chemical ability to bind to water
molecules which keeps water swelling in the hair fibre down to a minimum.
Wheat germ oil:

It is extracted from the germ of the wheat kernel, which makes up only 2.5% by
weight of the kernel[1] Wheat germ oil is particularly high in octacosanol - a 28-
carbon long-chain saturated primary alcohol found in a number of different
vegetable waxesHDctacosanol has been studied as an exercise- and physical
performance-enhancing agent. Very long chain fatty alcohols obtained from
plant waxes and beeswax have been reported to lower plasma cholesterol in
humans. Wheat germ oil is also very high in vitamin E (255 mg/100g), and has
the highest content of vitamin E of any food that has not undergone prior
preparation or vitamin fortification.141 As a cooking oil, wheat germ oil is
strongly flavored, expensive and easily perishable but does not effect the
damage control of hair Wheat germ oil contains the following fatty acids:
Component g/100g
Linoleic acid (omega-6) 55
Palmitic acid 16
Oleic acid 14
Linolenic acid (omega-3) 7
Popularly used in inks, shampoos and hair oils, the high tannin content of Indian
gooseberry fruit serves as a mordant for fixing dyes in fabrics.[16] Amla
shampoos and hair oil are traditionally believed to nourish the hair and scalp
and prevent premature grey hair but does not effect the damage control of hair.
It is a very good source of citric acid which is useful for other purpose than
damage control of scalp. '

Thus it can be observed that none of these ingredients can be use for damage
control of hair.
It has been surprisingly found that when these ingredients mixed together due to
synergism can be used for hair damage control which is missing in any of the
ingredients mentioned above.
Numerous characteristics and advantages of the invention covered by this
document will be set forth in the foregoing description. It will be understood,
however, that this disclosure is, in many respects, only illustrative. Changes
