FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to an improved hub index synchronizer assembly.
PRIOR ART
Conventional hub index synchronizer assembly comprising of hub, sleeve, detent
springlspring and ball arrangement, and synchronizer ring. In this assembly, a
sleeve accommodates hub on one side with detent springlspring attached to
internal spline of the sleeve. Further, both sleeve and hub are connected to a
synchronizer ring.
However, in the known hub index synchronizer as discussed hereinabove, splines
are provided with zero slope. This can causes problem of gear jump out.
Hence, the present invention has been proposed to obviate the problem of gear pop
out by providing a positive locking mechanism using a spring on the slope.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
The primary object of the present invention is to provide improved hub index
synchronizer assembly which overcomes disadvantages associated with the prior
arts.
Another object of the present invention is to provide improved hub index
synchronizer assembly which involves precise gear shifting.
Further object of the present invention is to provide improved hub index
synchronizer assembly which involves shift facilitation, positive gear locking and
better pre-synchronization.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION
According to this invention, there is provided an improved hub index synchronizer
assembly comprising of a sleeve accommodating hub on one side with detent spring
attached to internal spline of the sleeve and a synchronizer ring connected to said
sleeve and hub, wherein internal spline of the sleeve is disposed at an angle with the
horizontal plane.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION WITH REFERENCE TO THE
The present invention is directed to an improved hub index synchronizer assembly,
which provides improvement over the conventional hub index synchronizer described
herein below with reference to the drawing.
Now, reference may be made to fig. 1, wherein a sleeve (1) accommodates hub (2)
on one side with detent springlspring (3) attached to internal spline (S) of the
sleeve. Further, both sleeve and hub are connected to a synchronizer ring (4).
Further, reference may be made to fig. 2, wherein internal spline (5) is disposed at
0 degree with horizontal axis (X). This can leads to the problem of gear jump out
as already discussed. Hence, the present invention is provided.
Now, reference may be made to fig. 3 indicating improved hub index synchronizer
assembly of the instant invention, wherein a modified sleeve (Sf) is provided
accommodating a hub on one side with detent spring attached to internal spline of
the sleeve. Again, both sleeve and hub are connected to a synchronizer ring.
The internal spline (6) of the sleeve (Sf) is provided at an angle with the horizontal
axis (X). The angle may vary from 0 to 12' without restricting scope of the
invention to the same. Said provision of internal spline of the sleeve at an angle
eliminates the drawback of gear pop out.

Further, it results in numerous advantages such as precise neutral detect, gear
shift assistance, better pre-synchronization and positive gear lock.
Hence, the present invention leads to improvement in gear shift quality.
It is to be noted that the present invention is susceptible to modifications, ,
adaptations and changes by those skilled in the art. Such variant embodiments
employing the concepts and features of this invention are intended to be within the
scope of the present invention, which is further set forth under the following
claims:-

WE CLAIM:
1. An improved hub index synchronizer assembly comprising of a sleeve
accommodating hub on one side with detent spring attached to internal spline
of the sleeve and a synchronizer ring connected to said sleeve and hub, wherein
internal spline of the sleeve is disposed at an angle with the horizontal plane.
2. An improved hub index synchronizer assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein
the angle is preferably 0- 12 degree.
3. An improved hub as claimed in claim 1 or 2, is associated with the advantages
such as herein described.
4. An improved hub index synchronizer assembly substantially as herein
described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
