PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION
The following specification particularly describes the invention and the
manner in which it is to be performed.
FIELD OF INVENTION
The present invention is related to front axle assembly of vehicles and more particularly it relates to improved knuckle of non drive front axle of vehicles.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
In conventional knuckle of front axle, the configuration is unsymmetrical, due to
which it was difficult to manufacture and time consuming, assembly of knuckle
arm is done with through holes and bolting.
Conventional knuckle is generally made for particular brake assembly which is
not capable of assembling the variety of brakes up to widest brake since it doesn't
have mounting and assembly provision to accommodate the widest brake
assembly.
Since there is no separate provision of holes for brake mounting due to which it is
very difficult to assemble the brake assembly.
Conventional knuckle also suffer from one further disadvantage is that brake
assembly and steering arms were assembled with common bolting which involved
aligning of brake assembly, knuckle and steering arms which is difficult.
Due to uneven configuration or shapes of knuckle brake mounting face,
manufacturing was difficult and costly.
OBJECT OF INVENTION
The main object of the present invention is to provide improved knuckle for brakes of non drive front axle.
Another object of the present invention is to provide improved knuckle for brakes of non drive front axle which bear and supports all dynamic wheel end load.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide improved knuckle for brakes of non drive front axle which is configured to withstand torque generated by braking
SUMMARY OF PRESENT INVENTION
In accordance with this invention , improved knuckle for brake of non drive front axle comprises; a top arm portion and a bottom arm portion, circular flange portion, extended member for mounting aggregates said top and bottom arm portion comprising bores vertically aligned with each other for disposing king pin bush and king pin, said top arm portion comprises bore means disposed horizontally for mounting steering arm , bottom arm portion comprises bore means for tie rod mounting, said circular flange portion comprises threaded bore for stopper mounting, holes for sensor mounting, holes for brake assembly mounting , said extended member comprises keyway for mounting wheel hub bearing and heat treated portion for wheel hub mounting.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION
Accordingly the present invention discloses an improved knuckle joint of non
drive front axle in vehicles comprising;
a top arm portion;
a bottom arm portion;
a circular flange;
at least one extended shaft member; wherein
said top arm portion comprises steering arm mounting means and said bottom arm
portion comprises tie-rod mounting means; and
said circular flange comprises brake assembly mounting means, said brake assembly mounting means being configured to mount the widest possible brake shoe.

DEATILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Referring to the drawings wherein the showings are for the purpose of illustrating a preferred embodiment of the invention only, and not for the purpose of limiting the same.
In accordance with this invention , improved knuckle for brake of non drive front axle comprises; at least two arms portions like top arm portion(l) and bottom arm portion (2). circular flange portion(3), extended member (4) for mounting aggregates said top and bottom arm portion comprising bores (5.5') vertically aligned with each other for disposing king pin bush and king pin, said top arm portion comprises bore means (6) disposed horizontally for mounting steering arm, bottom arm portion comprises bore means (7) for tie rod mounting, said circular flange portion comprises threaded bore (8) for stopper mounting, hole (9) for sensor mounting, holes(lO) for brake assembly mounting, said extended
member comprises keyway(ll) for mounting wheel hub bearing and heat treated portions (12) for wheel hub mounting. On bearing seating area heat treatment is provided to resist the wear on bearing seat thus it improves the service life of Knuckle.
Now referring to figure 05 which shows assembly knuckle with axle beam.
The said knuckle is connected with said axle beam (13) with the help of king pin (14) and closed through fastener and washer (15,16), upper king pin cover (13), O-ring (18) , king pin bush (19), oil seal (20), thrust washer (21) from top and Thrust Bearing(22), Oil seal (23), King Pin Bush(24), O-ring (25), Lower kingpin cover (26), fastener with washer (27) from bottom.
Now referring to figure -06 which shows wheel end assembly with knuckle
Said knuckle is assembled with Wheel hub cap (28), Bearing lock thrust washer (29), Bearing lock nut (30) , Bearing thrust washer (31), Outer bearing (32), Gasket for cap (33), wheel hub assembly (34) with bolts (34'), Shims (35), Spacer (36), Inner bearing(37), Inner bearing cover(38), Snap ring(39), Oil seal(40), Fasteners(4L41').
Figure-07 shows knuckle assembly with steering arm and tie rod arm,
Said knuckle is connected to steering Arm (42) with the help of Bolts (43) for said steering arm (42), Tie-rod arm (44) with the help of Bolts (45) for said steering arm and nut (46) and Tie-rod assembly (47).
Said steering arm (42) and tie rod arm (44) is provided for leveraging the steering mechanism. Said knuckle is connected to said steering arm (42) with the help of
bolts (43) . Said tie rod arm (44) is connected to bore means (7) of said knuckle with the help of nut and bolt (45, 46).
Said knuckle is capable of assembling the brake assembly up to widest size having shoe width of 200mm. It is the most optimum design to suit the widest brake assembly.
This optimum design of knuckle is capable of bearing all kind of dynamic loads which are generated by vehicle while operating.
The said knuckle supports the wheel end of front axle aggregate completely and giving improved steering performance.
The said knuckle has arrangement for brake assembly mounting in such way that it resists the braking torque generated while braking.
The said Knuckle is capable of assembling the other parts of steering aggregate on it easily like Tie-rod Arm, Steering Arm & gives optimum performance in steering mechanism & fulfills the feature requirement of vehicle performance.
The said knuckle is easy for dismantling during the servicing of the vehicle which reduces the down time of vehicle benefiting the customers.
Due to its simple construction, shape and size, it is easy for manufacturing. The said knuckle has a unique feature that in this category of front axle depending upon vehicle application variety of brake widths can be assembled on it.
The foregoing description is a specific embodiment of the present invention. It should be appreciated that this embodiment is described for purpose of illustration
