prevention of rust in body panel and peel off of paint from rear bumper.
BACKGROUND/PRIOR ART
Conventionally, it is known to have been provided a mounting part with the
rear bumper for mounting on the rear panel. However, the mounting part is
provided separately without being integral to the rear bumper. Therefore, the
assembly is complicated and time consuming. As a result, the assembly cost is
high.
In order to obviate the above drawbacks, the bumper is integrally provided with
the mounting part (dog house) for mounting on the rear panel of vehicle.
The rear bumper dog house is mounted on the rear body panel by means of a
plurality of clips/screws. However, the disadvantage is that, there are higher
chances of paint peel off and rust due to continuous rubbing of said rear

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
Further objects and advantages of this invention will be more apparent from
the ensuing description when read in conjunction with the accompanying
drawings and wherein:
Fig. 1 shows: conventional dog house and its mounting.
Fig. 2 shows: one embodiment of dog house of present invention.
Fig. 3 shows: mounting of dog house of fig. 2.
Fig. 4 shows: another embodiment of dog house and its mounting according to
present invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION WITH REFERENCE TO T B
ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
The present invention discloses improved rear bumper of vehicle.
Reference may be made to fig. 1 indicating known dog house (1) integrally
provided with bumper (2) mounted on rear panel (3) by means of clip (4).
The upper surface of the dog house is completely in contact with the rear
panel. This leads to higher chances of paint peel off from the rear bumper and
rust in the rear panel due to continuous rubbing of said rear bumper dog
house with said rear panel during movement of vehicle.
In order to overcome the above drawback, the present invention is introduced.
In order to reduce surface area of contact between the dog house and panel,
the dog house (mounting part) can be provided with a plurality of ribs on its
top surface. However, less number of ribs result in less strength of the
assembly. To maintain the strength, more number of ribs is required to be
provided on the surface, which again leads to same problem like in prior art.
Hence, another provision is made to maintain the same strength like before.
The same is discussed hereinbelow.
Now, reference may be made to fig. 2 and 3, wherein the dog house (1) is
integrally provided with rear bumper (2) for mounting on the rear panel (3),
wherein the dog house is improved.
The top surface of said dog house is improved by providing a
projectedlextended member (4) integrally around circular hole of the dog house
to be in contact with rear panel. The member (4) faces towards the panel i.e.
outwardly from the dog house.
The aforesaid provision reduces the surface area of contact between the dog
house and panel as shown in fig. 3.
Alternatively, a plurality of block mountings (M) can also be provided around
the circular hole of said rear bumper dog house as shown in fig. 4. The block
mountings protrude outward towards the panel.
The aforesaid provision constituting another embodiment still reduces the
surface area of contact between the dog house and said rear panel.
The dog house integrally provided with said rear bumper can be connected to
the rear panel with the help of clip or screw by clipping or screwing
respectively. However, screwing is associated with the following shortcomings:-
- Complicated assembly
- Time consuming
- Expensive
- Difficulty in handling
- Requirement of special equipment for screwing and unscrewing
- Development of higher strength, which is not required for the invention
- It may lead to breakage of bumper.
However, clipping involves the following advantages:-
- Simple assembly
- Less time consuming
- Cost effective
- Easy handling
- Development of strength sufficient for the present invention.
Hence, clipping is preferred over the screwing. Therefore, clipping is carried out
instead of the screwing for the instant invention.
The above provision results in prevention of rust in body panel and paint peel
off from the rear bumper by decreasing contact area between the rear bumper
dog house and rear panel.
The present invention helps in achieving the advantages mentioned herein
above without compromising quality i. e. by maintaining same strength be tween
rear panel and bumper like prior art.
The dog house is made of material such as plastic i.e. any polymer of plastic.
Again, the dog house can be manufactured by the method of injection
moulding. The material and method hereinabove are given as example without
restricting scope of the invention to the same. Thus, other materials and
methods readily apparent to person skilled in the art are understood to be
within the scope of the invention,
Further, the invention meets vehicle durability test requirement.
It is to be noted that the present invention is susceptible to modifications,
adaptations and changes by those skilled in the art. Such variant embodiments
employing the concepts and features of this invention are intended to be within
the scope of the present invention, which is further set forth under the
