Improved Robust Design Of Eutectic Pouches For Cold Storage Appliances Or Rooms
Abstract: This invention can be incorporated into all domestic, commercial and industrial refrigerated spaces, which are stationary or in movable or transport vehicles. The new design flexible eutectic pouches facilitate easy manufacture and assembly, robust and efficient application, and reduction of vertical temperature gradient. Fig. 1a shows a schematic of an exemplary application of the new design flexible eutectic pouches to a horizontal top-door freezer. The cold space (101) is bound by inner walls (102) and cooled by evaporator tubes (103). The new design flexible eutectic pouches (104) are placed over tubes (103) and fixed to the inner walls (102) all around. The height of pouches (104) is selected to minimize vertical temperature gradient. The pouches wrap around evaporator tubes (103) as illustrated in the close up detailed in Fig. 1b. The pouches (104) are then enveloped by insulation (105) till the outer walls (106) of the appliance.

1) A new design of eutectic pouches and their application in cold storage spaces wherein:
i. the pouches are suitably filled with eutectic solution with a eutectic (or otherwise phase change) temperature appropriate to the long term or short term storage of the products stored in the cold space,
ii. the pouches are flexible and are fixed over and partially wrapping around the evaporator tubes that are used to cool the space,
iii. the pouches are of a suitable height with respect to that of the cold space to maintain vertical temperature gradient,
iv. the pouches have one or more vertical partitions that do not span the full height of the pouch,
v. the pouches are made of a robust material that prevents leakage of the fluid contents,
and,
2) Cold storage appliances or rooms incorporating the new design pouches of claim 1.
