Abstract: IN ORDER TO RECORD ATTRIBUTE INFORMATION WHICH DIFFERS ACCORDING TO THE ENCODING METHOD OF A 3D IMAGE, AND TO ACHIEVE A DATA RECORDING AND PLAYBACK CONFIGURATION, WHICH ACQUIRES ATTRIBUTE INFORMATION AND ENABLES DECODING THAT CORRESPONDS TO THE ENCODING METHOD, THE ENCODING METHOD OF A 3D IMAGE, WHICH IS CONTAINED IN DATA TO BE RECORDED TO A RECORDING MEDIUM, IS IDENTIFIED, AND THE ATTRIBUTE INFORMATION, WHICH IS TO BE RECORDED TO A MANAGEMENT INFORMATION FILE, IS CHANGED ACCORDING TO THE IDENTIFIED ENCODING METHOD, AND ATTRIBUTE INFORMATION UNIQUE TO EACH ENCODING METHOD IS RECORDED IN THE MANAGEMENT INFORMATION FILE. FOR EXAMPLE, IF THE ENCODING METHOD IS THE FRAME SEQUENTIAL METHOD, FRAME IDENTIFICATION DATA, WHICH INDICATES WHETHER THE FRAMES THAT CONSTITUTE A 3D IMAGE ARE A LEFT-EYE IMAGE (L IMAGE) OR A RIGHT-EYE IMAGE (R IMAGE), IS RECORDED AS ATTRIBUTE INFORMATION. THE PLAYBACK DEVICE ACQUIRES INFORMATION UNIQUE TO THE ENCODING METHOD FROM THE ATTRIBUTE INFORMATION, AND IS ABLE TO PERFORM DECODING CORRESPONDING TO THE ENCODING METHOD WITHOUT ERROR.
CLAIMS
1. An information processing device comprising
a data processing unit which performs a data recording
5 process on a recording medium,
wherein during the data recording process on the
recording medium, the data processing unit determines a method
of coding a 3D image included in recorded data, changes
attribute information which is to be recorded in a management
10 information file according to the determined coding method,
and records attribute in formation unique to each coding method
in the management information file.
2. The information processing device according to claim
15 1, wherein the data processing unit records the attribute
information unique to each coding method in each of the
management information files having a hierarchized
configuration.
20 3, The information processing device according to claim
1, wherein the data processing unit determines whether or not
the method of coding the 3D image is a frame sequential method,
and in the case where the method of coding the 3D image is
theframe sequential method, the data processing unit performs
25 a process of recording frame identification data indicating
whether a frame constituting the 3D image is a left-eye image
(L image) or a right-eye image (R image) as the attribute
information in the management information file.

1, wherein the data processing unit determines whether or not

the method of coding the 3D image is a inter-view reference
coding method where anyone of a left-eye image (L image) frame
and a right-eye image (R image) frame is set as a base image
which is a reference image during decoding, and
5 in the case where the method of coding the 3D image is
the inter-view reference coding method, the data processing
unit performsa aprocess orecording base image identification
data indicating which one of the L and R images is the base
image as the attribute information in the management
10 information file.
5. The information processing device according to claim
1, wherein the data processing unit determines whether or not
the method of coding the 3D image is a coding method where
15 inter-image reference between a left-eye image (L image) and
a right-eye image (R image) is likely to be needed during
decoding, and in the case where the method of coding the 3D
image is the coding method where inter-image reference is
likely to be needed, the data processing unit performsa process
20 of recording inter-image reference identification data
indicating whether or not inter-image reference between the
Land Rimages is likely to be needed as the attribute information
in the management information file.
25 6. The information processing device according to claim
1, wherein the data processing unit determines whether or not
an entropy coding mode is used for the coding in the method
of coding the 3D image and performs a process of recording
a result of the determination as the attribute information

7. The information processing device according to any one
of claims 1 to 6, wherein the data processing unit records
the attribute information in units of management data of each
of the management information files in each of the management
information files including:
(a) a clip information file set to be in correspondence
with a stream file which is a file storing image data; and
(b) a play list file having playing section designation
information with respect to the clip information file.

8. An information processing device comprising:
a data processing unit which performs a data playing
process on a recording medium,
wherein during the data playing process on the recording
15 medium, the data processing unit reads attribute information
of a coded 3D image recorded on the recording medium from a
management information file, determines a method of coding
the 3D image based on the read attribute information, reads
attribute information used for a decoding process according
20 to the determined coding method from the management in formation
file, and performs the decoding process according to the coding
method using the read attribute information.
9.° The information processing device according to claim
25 8, wherein the data processing unit determines, based on the
attribute information recorded in the management information
file, whether or not the method of coding the 3D image is a
frame sequential method, and
in the case where the method of coding the 3D image is
30 the frame sequential method, the data processing unit acquires
frame identification data indicating whether a frame

constituting the 3D image is a left-eye image (L image) or
a right-eye image (R image) from the attribute information
recorded in the management information file and performs a
decoding process according to the acquired information.
10. The information processing device according to claim
8, wherein the data processing unit determines, based on the
attribute information recorded in the management information
file, whether or not the method of coding the 3D image is a
10 inter-view reference coding method where any one of a left-eye
image (L image) frame and a right-eye image (R image) frame
is set as abase image which is a reference image duringdecoding,
and
in the case where the method of coding the 3D image is
15 the inter-view reference coding method, the data processing
unit acquires base image identification data indicating which
one of the L and R images is the base image from the attribute
information recorded in the management information file and
performs a decoding process according to the acquired
20 information.
11. The information processing device according to claim
8, wherein the data processing unit determines, based on the
attribute information recorded in the management information
25 file, whether or not the method of coding the 3D image is a
coding method where inter-image reference between a left-eye
image (L image) and a right-eye image (R image) is likely to
be needed during decoding, and
in the case where the method of coding the 3D image is
30 the coding method where inter-image reference is likely to
be needed, the data processing unit acquires inter-image

reference identification data indicating whether or not
inter-image reference between the L and R images is likely
to be needed from the attribute information recorded in the
management information file and performs a decoding process
according to the acquired information.
12. The information processing device according to claim
8, wherein the data processing unit determines, based on the
attribute information recorded in the management information
10 file, whether or not an entropy coding mode is used for the
coding in the method of coding the 3D image and determines
a decoding process mode based on the determination information.
13. An information recording medium on which image data is
15 recorded, comprising, as recorded data:
a stream file storing 3D image data as content to be
played; and
hierarchized management information files storing
management information of the content,
20 wherein the hierarchized management information files
include management information files indicated as follows:
(a) a clip information file set to be in correspondence
with a stream file which is a file storing image data, and
°- (b) a play list file having playing section designation
25 information with respect to the clip information file, and
have a configuration where information of a method of
coding a 3D image recorded in the stream file and attribute
information unique to the coding method are recorded in units
of management data of each of the management information files,

wherein a playing apparatus for playing the content

acquires information necessary for decoding the 3D image
included in recording content of the information recording
medium in units of management data of each of the management
information files by sequentially referring to the attribute
information according to a hierarchy of the management
information files.
14. An information processing method of allowing an
information processing device to perform a data recording

wherein during the data recording process on the
recording medium, a data processing unit determines a method
of coding a 3D image included in recorded data, changes
attribute information which is to be recorded in a management
15 information file according to the determined coding method,
and records attribute information unique to each coding method
in the management information file.
15. An information processing method of allowing an
20 informationprocessingdevice to perform a data playing process
on a recording medium,
wherein during the data playing process on the recording
medium, a data processing unit reads attribute information
of-a coded 3D image recorded on the recording medium from a
25 management information file, determines a method of coding
the 3D image based on the read attribute information, reads
attribute information used for a decoding process according
tothe determined coding method from the management informatH on
file, and performs the decoding process according to the coding
30 method using the read attribute information.

16. A program of allowing an information processing device
to perform a data recording process on a recording medium,

determine a method of coding a 3D image included in recorded

coding method in the management information file.

to perform a data playing process on a recording medium,
whereiduring the data playing process on the recording
medium, a data processing unit is allowed to read attribute

from a management information file, determine a method of
coding the 3D image based on the read attribute information,
read attribute information used for a decoding process
according to the determined coding method from the management
20 information file, and perform the decoding process according
to the coding method using the read attribute information.
