Abstract: Innovation sourcing systems and methods for knowledge based innovation are described. In one implementation, an innovation sourcing system (102) includes a knowledge integrator (110). The knowledge integrator (110) can extract knowledge content related to a topic from knowledge databases (112). The knowledge content includes trends on at least one topic and showcases of existing products and services related to the at least one topic. Based at least on the knowledge content, a task handling module (116) can receive user inputs in response to posted tasks. The user inputs include ideas and ratings of the idea. An idea converter (120) can receive at least partial implementation solutions from users for incorporating at least one idea, selected from the ideas received in the user inputs, into at least one of a product and a service.
CLIAMS:1.An innovation sourcing system (102) for knowledge based innovation, wherein the innovation sourcing system (102) comprises:
a processor (202); a knowledge integrator (110) executable by the processor (202) to extract knowledge content, related to at least one topic, from knowledge databases (112) and provide the knowledge content to users, wherein the knowledge content comprises trends on the at least one topic and showcases of existing products and services related to the at least one topic; a task handling module (116) executable by the processor (202) to receive user inputs in response to posted tasks, wherein the user inputs include ideas, comments on the ideas, and ratings of the ideas, and wherein the user inputs are received based at least on the knowledge content; and
an idea converter (120) executable by the processor (202) to receive at least partial implementation solutions from users for at least one idea, selected from the ideas received in the user inputs, for incorporating the at least one idea into at least one of a product and a service.
2.The innovation sourcing system (102) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the knowledge databases (112) store internal knowledge content related to organizational knowledge and external knowledge content received from filtering agents and Rich Site Summary (RSS) feed for determining the trends and the showcases.
3.The innovation sourcing system (102) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the at least one idea is selected based on the ratings of the ideas.
4.The innovation sourcing system (102) as claimed in claim 1 further comprising a co-innovation integrator (118) coupled to the processor (202) to receive information on capabilities of external agencies, evaluations of the capabilities and suggestions for collaborative research.
5.The innovation sourcing system (102) as claimed in claim 1 further comprising an innovation web creator (122) executable by the processor (202) to: identify, based at least on semantic analysis, interrelations between topics posted on multiple forums; and
create a web thread by connecting interrelated topics.
6.The innovation sourcing system (102) as claimed in claim 5, wherein the multiple forums include a forum related to the knowledge integrator (110), a forum related to the task handling module (116), a forum related to the idea converter (120), and a forum related to a co-innovation integrator (118).
7.The innovation sourcing system (102) as claimed in claim 1 further comprising a user assessment and reward module (124) coupled to the processor (202) to implement a point based reputation model for identifying the users to be rewarded.
8.A method implemented by an innovation sourcing system (102) for knowledge based innovation sourcing in an organization, the method comprising
providing knowledge content extracted from knowledge databases (112), by a knowledge integrator (110), to users, wherein the knowledge content comprises trends on at least one topic and showcases of existing products and services related to the at least one topic; receiving user inputs in response to posted tasks posted by a task handling module (116), wherein the user inputs are based at least on the knowledge content provided and user analysis of the knowledge content, and wherein the user inputs include at least ideas and ratings of the ideas; and receiving, by an idea converter (120), at least partial implementation solutions for incorporating a selected idea into at least one of a product and a service, wherein the selected idea is selected from the ideas based at least on the ratings.
9.The method as claimed in claim 8 further comprising assessing participation of the users, by a user assessment and reward module (124), based on a point based reputation model.
10.The method as claimed in claim 8 further comprising receiving information on capabilities of external agencies, evaluations of the capabilities and suggestions for collaborative research through a co-innovation integrator (118).
11.The method as claimed in claim 8 further comprising identifying interrelations between topics posted in multiple forums, based at least on semantic analysis, and creating a web thread by connecting interrelated topics by an innovation web creator (122).
12.The method as claimed in claim 8 further comprising providing an alert to a user for subscribed topics when the trends and the showcases related to the subscribed topics are updated.
13.The method as claimed in claim 8 further comprising receiving selected topics from the users for extracting the knowledge related to the selected topics.
14.A non-transitory computer readable medium having embodied thereon instructions for executing a method comprising:
extracting knowledge content from knowledge databases based on a combination of semantic analysis, data analysis, RSS feeds, and filtering agents; providing the knowledge content to users, wherein the knowledge content comprises trends on at least one topic and showcases of existing products and services related to the at least one topic; identifying interrelations between topics posted in multiple forums, based at least on semantic analysis, and creating a web thread by connecting interrelated topics;
receiving user inputs in response to posted tasks, wherein the user inputs are based on the knowledge content, user analysis of the knowledge content and the web thread of the interrelated topics, and wherein the user inputs include at least ideas and ratings of the ideas; and receiving at least partial implementation solutions for incorporating a selected idea into at least one of a product and a service, wherein the selected idea is selected from the ideas based at least on the ratings. ,TagSPECI:As Attached
