Description:FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to the field of pesticides. The present invention in particular relates to a synergistic, broad spectrum insecticidal composition comprising Emamectin benzoate, Lambda-cyhalothrin and Bifenthrin. The present invention further relates to the process of preparation of said composition and uses thereof.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Protection of crops and its produce from insect pest damage is essential for enhancement of agriculture produce. Even with the availability of alternative types of pest control, chemical control remains an important tool for the prevention and control of pests in agriculture, especially insect pests. Insecticides of varied types and structural groups have been reported in literature and a large number are in commercial use. However, judicious use of such chemical pesticides is absolutely needed to protect the environment and natural ecosystems. In this regard, application of insecticidal combinations has emerged as an attractive approach to ensure that the chemical load in the environment is reduced. However, not all chemical insecticidal actives are compatible with each other, and therefore requires a great amount of experimentation and effort to develop an efficacious pesticidal combination, which is stable and effective in controlling the insect pests in economically important agricultural crops.
CN 102037994 A enables the combination of Phenthoate (Cidial) and Emamectin benzoate emulsifiable concentrates formulation comprising solvents and surfactants.
WO 2000/002453 A1 generically enables the combination of Phenthoate and Emamectin benzoate emulsifiable concentrates formulation comprising use of surfactants, and an aromatic solvent.
There is therefore a continued need to develop insecticidal compositions that provide multiple advantages including to enable increase in the crop yields, to provide a composition with high synergistic action, to provide a combination where the dosage of the active ingredients is reduced as compared to the individual recommended dosage, to avoid excess loading of the toxicant to the environment and to negligibly impact environmental safety. The present invention aims to provide such an insecticidal composition with aforesaid advantageous features. More importantly, the present invention aims at providing a composition wherein the insecticidal activity of the insecticidal composition is considerably higher than the sum of the activities of the individual active compounds and that results into good enhancement in crop yield.

Emamectin benzoate chemically known as (4R)-4-deoxy-4-(methylamino)avermectin B1 benzoate (1:1) is an avermectin insecticide. It is a contact insecticide with negligible toxicity to non-target organisms. It allosterically activates glutamate-gated chloride channels (GluCls) causing paralysis in the insects
Lambda-cyhalothrin chemically known as (R)-cyano-(3-phenoxyphenyl)methyl (1S,3S)-rel-3-[(1Z)-2-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoro-1-propen-1-yl]-2,2-dimethylcyclopropanecarboxylate is a pyrethroid ester insecticide. It is a contact insecticide and it acts by disrupting the gating mechanism of sodium channels that are involved in the generation and conduction of nerve impulses, causing rapid paralysis and death of the insects.
“Bifenthrin” means 2-methylbiphenyl-3-ylmethyl (Z)-(lRS)-cis-3-(2-chloro-3, 3, 3-trifluoroprop-l-enyl)-2, 2-dimethyl cyclopropanecarboxylate. Bifenthrin is effective against a wide spectrum of pests when ingested, but typically is more active than chlorantraniliprole through direct contact, thus functioning as a low to moderately effective ovicide and adulticide in addition to being a good larvicide.

Example-3: Field evaluation of the bio-efficacy of the present Insecticidal composition.
The presently disclosed insecticidal tri-mix was tested for its bioefficacy against Stem borer and Leaf folder on Rice crop. The plants were aligned in a plot size of 25 square meter. The trial was carried out in a Pusa-1509 variety of Rice in karnal, Haryana. The trial was laid out in a random block design consisting of a total of 13 treatments in three replications.The1st application just after initiation of insects at ETL level (35-40 DAT of rice) and followed by 15 days interval.
Measured quantity of the chemical was added to required volume of water @ 500L/ha for spraying. The spray tank was filled with ½ the quantity of clean required volume of water and then the measured chemical (according to the dose) was added followed by the rest half quantity of water. The solution was stirred well and thorough coverage were ensured.

EVALUATION OF BIO-EFFICACY IN RICE CROP
Evaluation of bio-efficacyfor Stem borer & Leaf folder.
Stem borer: The efficacy of various insecticides against rice stem borer was judged on the basis of the percent dead heart at early stage and white ear heads at grain filling stage. The percent incidence of dead heart/white earheads was calculated as follows:
Percent incidence =(Number of dead heart/white ears )/(Total number of tillers/ panicles) x100
The observations on the dead hearts (DH) and white earheads (WEH) were recorded on ten hills selected randomly for each plot and tagged. Dead hearts were recorded at 0, 5, 10 and 15 days after application (DAA). While white earheads were recorded 10 days before crop maturity (10 DBCM).
Rice Leaf folder: To study the efficacy of insecticide, pest population was recorded in different phases i.e. before and after application. The damaged leaves and total leaves from 10 randomly selected hills were observed in each plot at 0,5, 10, 15 days after application (DAA). The percent incidence of leaf damage (LD) was calculated as follows:
Percent incidence =(Number of damaged leaves)/(Total number of leaves) x100

Example-4: Evaluation of phytotoxicity of the present Insecticidal composition
Visual observations were recorded at 3, 7 and 10 days after application (DAA) of testing products. The parameters observed were leaf injury on tip/surface, necrosis, vein clearing, epinasty, hyponasty and wilting. For the rating on phytotoxicity the core Scale of 0 – 10 was followed for leaf injury on 5 tips/surface.

Result and conclusion:
As seen in Table 3 to 6, treatment number 12 and 13 (dosages of 750 ml and 937.5 ml per hectare or 300mland 375 ml/acre) indicated that maximum percent control of Stem borer and Leaf folder in rice crop over 1-15 DAA.
Also, in Table 8 to 11, treatment number11 and 13 (dosages of 562.5 ml, 750 ml and 937.5 ml per hectare or 225 ml, 300 ml and 375 ml/acre) has no phytotoxicity symptoms.
