THE FOLLOWING SPECIFICATION DESCRIBES THE INVENTION:

FIELD OF INVENTION:
The present invention generally relates to jewelry and more particularly to
necklaces.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION:
Jewelry, preferably necklaces are commonly used and worn by girls, ladies and
women. Generally, necklaces have one or more strands permanently or
detachably attached at opposite ends with a necklace clasp. The conventionally
available necklace are in chain form or may contain a chain for wearing around
the neck and an attractive design or patterns (herein after referred to as design)
at central portion having as shown in Fig 1. The design may comprise natural
and/or synthetic gems, precious and/or non-precious gem-stones, pearls studded
in polymeric materials, precious metals such as silver, gold, platinum etc. or only
precious metals with various designs. The drawback of conventional necklaces
with design is that the designs are permanently attached with the neck portion of
the necklaces and are expensive and generally not exchanged often or as
desired by user.
Further drawback is that the color scheme or the conflagration may not be
compatible with the wearer's clothing or other jewelry, thereby restricting the
usability of the necklace available with the user.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION:
It is, therefore, an object of the present invention to provide a necklace that
solves at least one of the aforementioned problems.
2

According to the present invention, a necklace comprises a neck portion which is
to be worn around the neck, a central design portion and a detachable means
adapted vertically on the ends of each portion to connect the central design
portion detachably with the neck portion.
According to the present invention, a locking means may be provided for
securely locking the detachable portion of the necklace.
According to one embodiment of the present invention, the detachable means is
a clasp having atleast two male connectors projecting out from end of the neck
portion and a female connector for each male connector on the end of the central
design portion to receive male connector releasably.
According to one embodiment of the present invention, the detachable means
comprises a pipe having a longitudinal slit and a slider sliding through the slit.
According to one embodiment of the present invention, a neck portion of the
necklace may comprise design at the both ends. The design provided with the
neck portion may match with the central design portion.
The design referred in the description is not only limited to design, it may
comprise various patterns made by using various metals, gems, or the like.
According to one embodiment of the present invention, the central design portion
may be a single design. Alternatively, the central design portion may comprise
two or more portions detachably connected to each other allowing user to
change the design as per his/her needs.
Figure 2 shows a portion (10) of the neck portion comprising design and a central
portion (20) of a necklace according to the present invention. Fig 2A shows a

detaching means (30) according to the present invention in which four male connectors (12) are adapted on a curved strip (14) vertically connected with the design provided on the neck portion (10) and four female connectors (22) in the form of the depression on the cured ends (24) of the central design portion (20) of the necklace matching with the curved strip (14) of the neck portion to receive male connectors releasably.
4
The vertically adapted detachable means ensures the flow of necklace without disturb. The present invention allows the user to change the design of the necklace by just exchanging the design.
