"INTEGRATED DAMPENER SWITCH FOR DOORS IN THE VEHICLE"
MAHINDRA & MAHINDRA LIMITED A COMPANY REGISTERED UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF COMPANIES ACT, 1956 HAVING ADDRESS AT R & D CENTER, AUTOMOTIVE SECTOR, 89, M.I.D.C, SATPUR, NASHIK - 422 007, MAHARASHTRA, INDIA.

FIELD OF INVENTION:-
The present invention relates to safety switches in automobiles and more particularly the present invention relates to integrated dampener safety switches for vehicle doors in automobiles.
BACKGROUND OF THE PRESENT INVENTION:-
Automobiles, especially cars, trucks, buses and other vehicles are completely closed structures with the exit being made through different doors. The typical car will have two to five doors which include the front doors, rear doors, tail door and the front hood opening. During the vehicle running, the driver has to ensure that all the doors are locked which avoids any accidents. There are lot of automated sensors and other vehicle door closure warning systems known in the art which ensures that the vehicle doors are closed during vehicle running condition.
In the prior art door closure warning systems, a small electrical switch is mounted in the vehicle door panel. This electrical switch indicates to the system that whether the door is closed properly are not. Due to over slam of the door, the switches tend to break which leads to replacement of the system. In order to avoid this switch damage, a small dampener also mounted in a separate location in the door. But the drawback is that functioning of electrical switch is dependent on adjustment of door stopper/dampener for example positive height adjustment of dampener will not activate door switch even in closed condition. Also the stopper/dampener is not engaged with door plane as per the design. Multiple packaging spaces needs to be protected in this design which is still not ensuring 100% of electrical switch functioning. In the prior art switches adjustment is required at assembly line to ensure proper functioning of the door switch. In this existing design of door switch there is issue of packaging in y as length of switch is impacting the pillar trim style.

Hence there is a need in the art for an electrical door closure warning switch which overcomes the drawbacks of the prior art system.
OBJECTS OF THE PRESENT INVENTION:-
The main object of the present invention is to provide a dual function of dampening and proper door closing indicator in a single integrated unit.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an integrated dampener switch for vehicle doors which prevents electrical switch damage during door slam.
Further object of the present invention is to provide an integrated dampener switch which consumes less space for mounting in the vehicle.
Yet another object of the present invention is to achieve better NVH & exact function of the door switch in the vehicle with the integrated dampener switch
STATEMENT OF INVENTION:-
Accordingly the invention provides an integrated dampener switch for doors in the vehicle comprising plunger type electrical switch moulded in the EDPM dampener having one end switch operating spring biased pin type member protruding outside the said EDPM dampener and other end mounting base with electrical wire routing connector adapted to mounted in the vehicle body pillar reinforcement with the said switch operating member facing door panel such way that the said operating member pushed to enable switch off electrical connection when door is full closed.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES:-
The objects and advantages of the present invention will become apparent when the disclosure is read in conjunction with the following figures, wherein

Figure 1 shows the schematic view of integrated dampener switch moulded with an EPDM (EPDM rubber (ethylene propylene diene monomer)
dampener of the present invention;
Figure 2 shows the section view in the middle of integrated dampener switch in assembled position;
Figure 3 shows cut sectional view of integrated dampener switch with tail door panel and roof of the vehicle;
Figure 4 shows dampener switch assembled at the tail door of vehicle;
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PRESENT INVENTION:-
The foregoing objects of the invention are accomplished and the problems and shortcomings associated with the prior art techniques and approaches are overcome by the present invention as described below in the preferred embodiment.
The present invention is illustrated with reference to the accompanying drawings, throughout which reference numbers indicate corresponding parts in the various figures. These reference numbers are shown in bracket in the following description.
The present invention discloses a new design of integrated dampener/stopper with electrical switch to achieve the function of door opening indication/alarm and the dampener effect (NVH) while door closing in a single integrated system.
Figure 1 represents the integrated dampener switch arrangement (100) wherein a switch (103) is molded with an EPDM Dampener (102). This integrated dampener switch (100) is connected with electrical wire routing (104) which goes to the front end of the vehicle where the electrical control accessories are mounted. The function of integrated dampener is to achieve the door opening

indication/alarm and also the dampener effect Noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) while door closing in a single integrated system.
Figure 2 represents the integrated dampener switch (100) location and section in the middle of integrated dampener switch (100) in assembled position. In this section (103) is the switch molded with the EPDM dampener (102) which is connected with wire routing (104). This integrated dampener switch (100) is mounted on pillar outer upper panel (105) and tail door panel (107) is closed condition. When the tail door panel (107) of the vehicle is presses the switch (103), the cabin light (not shown) gets deactivated which acts as the indicator of door closed condition of the vehicle. The dampener (102) with switch also acts as a stopper for the tail door panel (107) to create the dampening effect/NVH effect in case of over slam of the door and hence protecting the switch (103) from damage. In this image, roof (101) of the vehicle is represented to give clarity to the location of the integrated dampener switch.
Figure 3 represents the cut-sectional view of Integrated Dampener Switch with the tail door panel and roof of the vehicle. It is clear from the figure that the integrated dampener switch is assembled into the D-Pillar reinforcement of the vehicle with the electrical wire routing from the back end of the dampener switch. The electrical switch is slightly projected outside the dampener so that when the vehicle tail door closes, it first comes in contact with the switch and as the tail door travels further, it also presses the dampener ensuring proper closure of the door with proper NVH.
Figure 4 represents the exploded views of vehicle with integrated dampener switch (100) assemble at the tail door section. In this figure, wire routing (104) is passing through the body box section of body side outer (106) and the pillar outer upper panel (105). The wiring harness (104) is further connected to battery (not shown) in the front end of the vehicle for power supply.
It should be understood that the integrated dampener switch of the present invention is not just limited to the tail door of the vehicles. It applies to every door/closure in the vehicle.

The technical advantages achieved by the present invention are:
• With this new design of integrated dampener with electrical switch complete packaging issue is resolved in the vehicle.
• With this new design we are achieving the 100% prevention of electrical switch damage in over slam condition of door.
• With this design common packaging is possible for dampener and electrical switch.
• With this we are achieving Better NVH & exact function of the door switch in the vehicle.
• We are able to provide dual function of dampening and proper door closing indicator in a single system.
• 100% insuring of electrical switch engagement.
