Abstract: An intelligent function unit (110) is provided with: an input selector (131) which selects whether to use as an input signal an actual input signal or a pre created simulation input signal; an output selector (133) which selects whether or not to output an output signal to a second control device; and an arithmetic unit (122) which either causes an input/output control unit (123) for which a combination of a plurality of general purpose circuit blocks and a usage order are set to process input signals for each step and sends the output signal to an engineering tool or causes the input/output control unit (123) for which a combination of a plurality of general purpose circuit blocks and a usage order are set to consecutively process input signals for a set time period of at least two steps and store the output signals for each step in a logger unit (140) and sends the output signals for the set time period stored in the logger unit (140) to the engineering tool.
