, Description:FIELD OF THE INVENTION:
The present invention relates to public street light management system. The present invention more particularly relates to an intelligent street lighting system for detecting Lamp failures remotely from the control center which facilitates maintenance scheduling.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION:
Intelligent street lighting refers to public street lighting that adapts to movement by pedestrians, cyclists and cars. Intelligent street lighting, also referred to as adaptive street lighting, dims when no activity is detected, but brightens when movement is detected. This type of lighting is different from traditional, stationary illumination, or dimmable street lighting that dims at pre-determined times.
Intelligent street lamps are a key element in the development of safe, clean and smart cities. Continental’s Intelligent Street Lamp simplifies the management of lighting, monitoring and analyzing environment, traffic and parking information in smart cities.
Due to the increase of environmental concerns, lighting control systems play an important role in the reduction of energy consumption of the lighting without impeding comfort goals. Energy related emissions are responsible for approximately 80% of air emissions and central to the most serious global environmental impacts and hazards, including climate change, acid deposition, smog and particulates. Lighting is often the largest electrical load in offices, but the cost of lighting energy consumption is low when compared to the personnel costs. Thus its energy saving potential is often neglected. According to study global grid based electricity consumption for lighting was about 2650 TW in 2005, which was an equivalent of 19% of total global electricity consumption. The share of electricity for lighting is around 20-30% in hospitals, 15% in factories, 10-15% in schools and 10% in residential buildings.
So there is a need for an intelligent lighting control and energy management system for energy saving, especially in public lighting management. It realizes remote on/off and dimming of lights, which can save energy by 40%, save lights maintenance costs by 50%, and prolong lamp life by 25%. The system application in streetlight control for each lamp will reduce in streetlight electricity and maintenance cost, and increase availability of street light. The present invention enables remote light control as well as adaptive street lighting depending on surrounding traffic participants. It provides advanced features such as remote maintenance, over-the-air updates and performance monitoring, features that allow smart cities and operators to save energy and reduce cost by working more efficiently. The Intelligent Street Lamp also can provide data for future smart cities. The present invention can increase safety by detecting critical situations and transferring this information through communication to connected vehicles. By identifying free parking space, the solution can reduce congestion and improve overall traffic flow and can detect multiple pollution levels like noise and air quality, to improve the quality of life in tomorrow’s cities.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION:
The main object of the present invention is to provide a street light management system for reducing the cost of energy and maintenance to support remote control monitoring.
Another object of the present invention is to allow users to plan the lamp infrastructure, optimize maintenance and monitor the entire lighting system.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a system for detecting Lamp failures remotely from the control center, which facilitates maintenance scheduling.
Other objects and benefits of the present invention will be more apparent from the following description, which is not intended to bind the scope of the present invention.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION:
Accordingly, a system for intelligent lighting control and energy management system is disclosed. An intelligent lighting control and energy management system using GSM comprising of;
a. Server (database of the website ) for user registration & other activities;
b. Display system showing the lights;

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION WITH RESPECT TO DRAWINGS:
The present invention is an intelligent lighting control and energy management system for energy saving, especially in public lighting management. It realizes remote on/off and dimming of lights, which can save energy by 40%, save lights maintenance costs by 50%, and prolong lamp life by 25%. The system application in streetlight control for each lamp reduces in streetlight electricity and maintenance cost, and increase availability of street light.
The present invention provides a street light management system for reducing the cost of energy and maintenance to support remote control monitoring and allow users to plan the lamp infrastructure, optimize maintenance and monitor the entire lighting system. The present system detects Lamp failures remotely from the control center, which facilitates maintenance scheduling.
In one embodiment, Energy costs are immediately reduced by up to 35% through intelligent ON/OFF switching, targeted progressive dimming and efficient management of the consumption. Maintenance teams no longer need to patrol the streets, they receive detailed notifications with any malfunction, including possible defect analysis and necessary materials. Around 65% of energy can be saved and money also can be saved as compared to on/Off controlling. The present invention detects burned lamps and allows Automatic voltage detection and compensation in the end of the power line branches. The present invention is a Web based, multi featured interface for managing street lights. Centralized and shared information about street lights. Burning hours, energy consumptions, broken lights etc. can be turned into graphical reports and same system can be used also in other municipal applications like pump stations, buildings, district heatings, dumps etc.
In one embodiment, The present invention detects failures of any node. Intelligent street lighting system using GSM. The system compromises of server, display system and nodes which are micro controlled processed with embedded sensors measuring different parameters. Each node in the network is linked to the main server via a protocol. The analog data sensed by the sensor is converted in digital form, processed by microcontroller and then sent to the server. The other nodes sends the data to master and the master collects the data and further sends to concentrator and server where the data is monitored and on necessary alterations process it to switch On/Off the nodes devices. The present invention increases life of streetlights, reduces power consumption, ease of monitoring and controlling and less installation cost and helps in the energy saving and autonomous operation on economical affordable for the streets. Chips would be made to be installed on the lights. These chips consist of a micro-controller along with various sensors like CO2 sensor, fog sensor, light intensity sensor, noise sensor and GSM modules for wireless data transmission and reception between concentrator and PC. The data from the chips is received on a remote concentrator (PC) and the PC would also transmit the controlling action to the chip. According to the survey of variation in the intensity of light in the field area, efficient programming is done to ensure minimum consumption of energy. The emissions in the atmospheres is detected along with the consumption of energy and any theft of electricity. The present invention detects a particular location for the existing consumption of energy, emission levels, cost of set up & maintenance, etc. of that location and design an energy efficient system on database of the website collects the data (current, power consumption, theft, carbon emissions, etc.). The present invention is used for monitoring lighting control status, command the controllers depending upon the light intensity required and lamp controller power on/off/dim the lamp, monitor the status of the lamp, to collect the data from various sensors.
